Good morning to all the night owls
I m late waking this morning and seem to have missed my
3 am slot however 4.30 am will do ( 4 and a half hours is positively a very long sleep for me) who knows I might even drop of again for a doze before I get up at 6 ready for some work
So who s around ?

Dickens Mon 24-Nov-25 12:28:57

Aveline

Well I had a bad night's sleep off and on all night. Main reason was that I was cold! Feet and hands like blocks of ice. My coverless duvet is great but really isn't warm enough when the temperature plunges. Old duvet and brushed cotton sheets duly fitted this morning. I'm looking forward to a warmer night tonight.

Oh Aveline - I don't think you can sleep if your feet or hands are cold!

Would bed-socks help, or a hot water bottle in a 'fleecy' cover - you could always kick it out if you get too warm?

BlueBelle Mon 24-Nov-25 13:30:43

I sleep in a sleeping bag with my duvets etc on top that way nothing normally falls off

Aveline Mon 24-Nov-25 13:35:35

Thanks Dickens but I will be safely ensconced in a 13.5 tog duvet with flannelette sheets tonight. I'll probably not sleep as too hot. Mind you I've just remembered how hard it is to turn over in those sheets they feel like velcro. Oh well. I'll let you know how it goes.

Went to bed at 9 as had a well busy and productive day now wide awake so an even earlier morning cup of tea 😂☕️.
Shall do a bit of scrolling then hope to sleep with music in my ears.

I didn’t think I’d ever be posting on this thread but just before midnight I checked my bank and noticed Netflix had just helped themselves to three payments of £18.99 - one last Saturday and two last night!!
I phoned Netflix (I wasn’t really expecting anyone to respond but they did) and the money has been refunded but I couldn’t for the life of me understand why it was taken in the first place. The young lady was very helpful and apologetic but her accent was impossible to understand in my tired and anxious state.
I’ll be watching Netflix like a hawk now in case it happens again.
So, I’m doing what I would never normally do at this time of night….drinking a mug of decaff tea. I’m far too wired to sleep.
Ho Hum!

Mollygo Tue 25-Nov-25 03:42:47

It’s cold, but the stars are beautiful. I didn’t want to know either of those things, but when your dog asks to go out . . .

Usedtobeblonde Tue 25-Nov-25 04:04:57

This is proving to be “ the night of the bladder” for me.
At least 4 visits since I woke for the first time about 11pm.
My new normal is bed about 8 so very tired.
Sleep not long after but awake approximately 2 hours later.
However last/tonight I have managed to get back to sleep almost immediately until now.
I think I have had enough sleep for now so thought I would check up on this thread.
My iPad is fully charged so I am going to check my online banking as merlotgran must have been doing as it is heading towards the end of the month to see were I am at.
Might make a cuppa but I am feeling snug so may stay where ai am.

Crossstitchfan Tue 25-Nov-25 04:24:19

Morning UTBB and any others awake at this ungodly hour.
I really don’t want to be, but I just can’t drop off. I woke about an hour ago for no apparent reason. I am so tired, so why can’t I stay asleep?
I would love a cup of tea, but like you, I am snug.and can’t face a chilly kitchen.
Might check my bank too.

Esmay Tue 25-Nov-25 04:25:00

Woke up a few minutes ago .
It's usually my bladder which is increasingly irritated. And sensitive .
I've always drunk lots of fluids now I realise that I need to curtail my evening tea drinking .
The other thing which wakes me are nightmares.
I don't know which is worse.
I had nightmares and night terrors as a child so did my mother and so did my son .
I'm fact my son had a miserable time with them.
I put a film on and sometimes drift off .
I'm grateful for the distraction of the TV .

RosesandLilac Tue 25-Nov-25 04:56:45

And me Usedtobeblonde 🙄, which is unusual for me.
I have made a coffee with my Tassimo that I have in the bedroom, it’s such a bonus not having to go downstairs and disturb the dogs.
I’m in bed very early nowadays, I read for an hour or so and usually fall asleep very quickly.
We’re without electricity today from 8 to 6, so I have flasks ready to fill with hot water and soup. I’ll cook sausages and keep in a flask for putting in rolls for lunch too - I’ll bake the rolls as soon as I get up.
Battery lamps at the ready and the wood burner will be alight earlier than usual. I think I have everything sorted for a day without power 🙄

Nannytopsy Tue 25-Nov-25 05:31:59

I had nearly 5 hours sleep! That’s the effect of cocodamol but I don’t take it every night because of constipation.
Now to try for another couple of hours …

Georgesgran Tue 25-Nov-25 05:46:10

I’ve just woken for the loo - otherwise an undisturbed almost 4 hours solid sleep, but I’ll stay in bed (tv on) for another half hour. Must write a card and bag up a tin of M&S chocolates to leave at my Chiropody Practice after this afternoon’s appointment, as I don’t have another until January.

BlueBelle Tue 25-Nov-25 05:50:47

Are you without electricity because of your house or is a it an area problem Roseandlilac it’s so miserable when that happens It hasn’t happened here for some years but I ve always got a torch by my bed in case
It feels a cold one this morning as my hands are typing this let’s hope it’s bright and not miserably rainy
Getting up in half an hour for a lovely hot shower

BlueBelle Tue 25-Nov-25 05:55:37

By the way I ve reported 7kabale who seems to have disrupter all threads over night

Aveline Tue 25-Nov-25 07:31:30

I was awake at 4 for no apparent reason. I debated getting up but eventually fell into a strange sleep. I dreamt a complete TV mini series complete with diverse casting. Very odd.
The new duvet was lovely and cosy but the cover was so heavy and stiff and hard to manoeuvre. Will try my soft bamboo one if I can face changing the cover again.

TerriBull Tue 25-Nov-25 07:44:55

I was also awake at 4. I thought about getting up and making some meaningful contribution to the thread, but then wondered what an earth that could be at stupid o'clock, so I just dozed źzzzz

Usedtobeblonde Tue 25-Nov-25 09:25:11

I stayed awake unit about 7:45 and I’ve been awake about 15 minutes, just going to have my first cup of tea.
I hope you all managed a few hours.

Dickens Tue 25-Nov-25 09:47:55

Oh my goodness, yes! I remember that!

I'll probably not sleep as too hot

This is the thing isn't it... I'm the same with clothing - dress up warm and then as I move around start to heat up. At the moment I'm suffering from hives, and the fluctuating temperature really does not help.

Anyway - hope you managed to sleep - at least initially before you had to turn over grin and decided you'd be better off getting up and getting back in again...

Georgesgran Wed 26-Nov-25 02:11:40

Just off to bed now.
Hope everyone gets a few hours rest. X

TerriBull Wed 26-Nov-25 02:19:42

Finding myself awake, I'll listen to my book on Audible in the hope it sends me off.

JamesandJon33 Wed 26-Nov-25 02:55:33

Morning all. Here I am, bang on time. I didn’t post yesterday as I slept until nearly six. Odd isn’t it that you have poor nights and good ones with no apparent reason why…Probably need a nap this afternoon though.

Catgrann Wed 26-Nov-25 03:19:30

Good morning all. I haven't been asleep at all yet 😔.My trouble is falling asleep, and when I eventually do then the cat will be pulling my hair at about 6am to get me up,then we go back again. If I'm not going out I sleep all morning, half a day wasted.
It is good to be able to see on here that others are awake too,not that I wish you sleepless nights,it's horrible, but I often feel like I am the only person on the planet who is awake!
I'm having a coffee and a biscuit then will see what happens .

HelterSkelter1 Wed 26-Nov-25 04:04:18

Oh dear. Here I am. Eyes open at 3.45. I am warm, not thirsty. No nasty dream. Everywhere is quiet. I was in bed and then asleep by 10. So I suppose 6 hours is fine.

I have a glass of water so I won't venture downstairs yet. I finished watching The Crown, but may watch the final episode again now. What an impressive actor Imelda Staunton is. So very convincing as Queen Elizabeth.

And if QE11 really did say in her wedding speech at Charles' wedding "for those who don't know me, I am the mother of the groom" what a very witty woman she was.

I hope you all drift off again soon and that Aveline is not velcroed to her brushed cotton sheets.

Erica23 Wed 26-Nov-25 04:14:02

Hello ladies. First time on here, but this is the 3rd morning I’ve been awake at 3.30, decided to get up in the hope DH might go back to sleep.
I’ve got sciatica at the moment, even with painkillers I can’t get in a comfortable position. Might try and have a short nap after lunch, before we pick up the DGC from school otherwise I’ll be no fun at all. 🤣

Aldom Wed 26-Nov-25 04:39:23

I've been awake since about 3am.
Just waiting for my camomile, honey and ginger tea to cool.
I went to sleep quickly, probably because my new electric blanket had gently warned my bed. I've put it back on ready for my return.
I'm missing home and friends since moving house and county. Once awake my mind won't switch off.
Nice to know others are awake to keep me company. Wishing you all a few more hours asleep. smile
