What would you actually like for Christmas?

It is also my birthday on Sunday, always hated it being so close to Christmas, used to get overlooked for xmas and joint presents which I hated 🙃

My frivolous answer is emeralds. I’d like emeralds.

We all make a list of things we’d like, but we don’t know what we’ll get until the day, it makes life easy knowing what everybody wants. Included on my list I’ve got a YSL handbag perfume set, two Art Deco era books, some F&M rarebit (I love it, so it’s a permanent feature on my Christmas list), some posh coffee, and a bag. If I get any of those I’ll be happy with my lot.

Yes, we too file wish lists with Christmas Central(Me). No guarantee you will get all or any, if someone has a better idea. But makes gift giving much easier.

My list this year has a number of books (it always does), my favourite perfume, aa bottle of sloe gin, I usually make my own but in moving house I do not have any local sloe bushes that I have found yet,and a sandwich maker.

I don't want anything particularly extravagent: I saw an insulated mug in Waitrose which I really liked, and would use regularly when out in the garden - it is something that was already on my radar as something I would find useful, before I saw the Waitrose one.
I also like doing a jigsaw now and then, and would be more than happy to receive a second hand one from a charity shop. Or craft-related things - a voucher for an online shop I use regularly would be great. Or wine!

What I absolutely do not want are things like toiletries and candles.

But I know from bitter experience that the only way I will get any of my 'wants' is if I buy them myself.

I would like some noise cancelling headphones, then I would not have to listen to the quiz , cookery and antique programmes which fill the tv all day.

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth.

New knees without the surgery! However what I could have would be a Sigo tenor recorder - a new design which I could play even with arthritic hands.

I'd like to trade my current body in for one around mid 40s - but minus the period problems that were such a pain until menopause put that right for me. With the proviso it's not to die any later than it's due to because of that health improvement. I don't want a sting in the tail of a longer life.

On the general Christmas front - I'm having a little grin to myself at a present I'm giving. I have a local farming friend who does lots of experimental projects in farming/use of herbs/etc - you name it and she'll experiment with it - I call her the "Ideas Machine". There's a new book just out by a guy in another country with very much that outlook and I thought "That'll give her loads of ideas to experiment with - should keep her going for a few months" - so I've got that lined-up to give her later.

Last year I was all into photo restoration and got an upgrade for Photoglory, the program I use. This year I'm looking for an interesting DIY kit, maybe a crystal mosaic set or a clay kit, something like that to keep myself entertained and busy for a couple of evenings or maybe even weeks. Looking at the screen have been interesting but also kinda tiring.

I would like a rest and a good book.

Foxie48- vaseline do a really good spray on body moisturiser.(in different kinds)- I know Boots stock it but am sure you could shop around at amazon or some online discount chemist or Superdrug etc to get cheaper, or maybe buy in bulk?

Falling Star- i always ask my eldest daughter for a certain book i like look of.

To all of those waiting& hoping for estranged family members to reconcile, i say keep hoping and wishing (&praying if its your thing) because it might just happen one day.2 of my brood had not seen each other for around 8 years- at this time last year i was still hoping for reconciliation- this year they are reunited and its the best present all our family could have wished, prayed, and hoped for.Never give up hope.🥰

I agree with Colls.

I would like to be free of GERD and IBS so that I could eat like other people and stop having to make excuses when offered different types of food I cannot eat and horrible people saying the being gluten intolerant doesn't exist. It is all in the mind. I challenge anyone who makes nasty comments about people on special diets. It is just downright mean.

I too wish my two brothers would "kiss and make up", for my mother's sake as much as anything - that would certainly be her best present, and for my 8 year old granddaughter to recover from her tumour (Rhabdomyosarcoma and be able to get on with life as an 8 year old should. She is being so brave through all the awful treatment, losing her lovely long hair etc. :-(

I would like to meet my new grandchildren. Never going to happen.
