I went to a Christmas lunch recently and noticed that most of the ladies were wearing trousers (mostly black). I wore a dress. Are trousers the go to choice for a lot of people, and, if so, where do they buy them and what sort? Thank you.

Recommendations for Trousers
(59 Posts)I bought mine from Bon Marche and they’re fabulous. They are pull on with a short elastic panel in the waistband around the hip area but they are woven fabric, not jersey. Wash well and minimal ironing.
Wear what you like and feel comfortable in. That’s pretty much the dress code nowadays.
I hate the feel of tights so I wear trousers all the time until it’s warm enough for bare legs and a dress.
Usually FatFace or White Stuff. Joules seems to making a comeback too.
I don’t worry about what other people wear.
I wear trousers all the time. Sometimes jeans but mostly straight leg jersey either from Lands End or M&S.
Jersey doesn't need ironing- mostly - and looks good all the time imo.
When it is cold I wear plain black, grey or navy trousers for best. Land's End do a good range and they are reasonable cut and quality. As for style, I am short and dumpy so I wear slim legged trousers but taller people can bring off the more fashionable wide leg trousers.* The inevitable Marks and Spencer also do a good range.
I still think that, for me, dresses are more comfortable in the warmer months and I really don't look good in shorts or cropped trousers.
I hope this is of some help to you.
*For older people wide leg trousers can present a tripping hazard especially if they cover your shoes,
I wear trousers all the time. TBH these are usually jeans; I do have what I'd call "smart" black jeans. which I happily wear if going out to lunch! I have a pair of "proper" black trousers for special occasions; these are from M&S. IMO a pair of jeans or trousers can instantly be "smartened up" or "dressed down" by the appropriate top worn with them.
I live and in trousers, I did wear two dresses this on the Queen Mary for the “posh” evenings, but only because I couldn’t find any proper posh trousers, so thank you for your published choices, I’ll be checking them out
I haven’t worn a dress for years. I normally wear jeans or straight leg trousers from Bon Marché, M&S or Cotton Traders.
Usually M&S as they do different lengths
I have brought a few from them this winter from different ranges wide leg pull on smart Jersey ones, wide leg knitted jersey, boot leg jeggins in grey cord.
M&S certainly have a large range.
Hobbs are good for dressy trousers.
Otherwise I find that Marks and Spencer carry an excellent range of trousers to suit every body shape, leg length and purse.
I have just started going back to dresses after years of trousers only.
What I want to know is what has happened to all the skirts?
Keepingquiet so do I. Having a thick waist and small hips skirts suit me much better.
Many years ago, I only bought from M&S, but over the years, the quality has deteriorated, and they have become very thin. I have bought Bon Marche in sales, excellent bargains.
I doubt if I will have to buy any clothes again, as I have more than sufficient.

Skirts are definitely harder to find especially if you want knee length so many are midi length and at just 5' 2 they do me no favours unless I am wearing heels.
I usually manage to get some from Crew clothing White Stuff or Fatface.

I wear those, warm and easy to wear. No zip, either, which can sometimes add a bulge where it's not needed.
The concealed zip in the side of trousers is less conspicuous but difficult to do up these days.

I have a pair of black velvet trousers for 'posh' evenings.
I haven't worn dresses or skirts since I retired almost 20 years ago. I wear pull on indigo jeans from Cotton Traders just about every day except when it is hot when I go for cropped. I reserve an almost new pair of the jeans for smarter occasions, pairing them with a pretty top. Day to day I have tops of varied weights, so today I have on a Joules fleece top with zipped neck and side zips for easy access to the phone in my jeans pocket.
I go for comfort all the way these days!

Are you saying that you’ve never bought a pair of trousers🤷♀️
I mostly wear trousers, and have ordinary pull on elasticated waist black and grey trousers for wearing at home, but I find that Seasalt have some good trousers, needless to say I only buy them in the sales, but actually I have now found a way that suits me. I am only 5ft 6ins so quite often their "cropped" size suit me well and dont have to do any altering. What I have done recently is that my rather good linen trousers from them, in different colours, rust, yellow, blue, I wear and look quite summery. But the secret is that at the moment I am wearing my polar very thin undertrousers from Mountain Warehouse , which I bought for my trip to the artic. So they are very thin and fine, dont restrict my movements at all and the summer trousers go over them. I find them very comfortable - wear wide leg trousers as they are easier to get on and off with my back problems - and it is quite cheering to wear colours instead of boring dark or black trousers, so they are my solution. Have never been keen on jeans as they are too figure hugging and have always thought them too cold to wear. As a singer, I also have a couple of velvet black wide legged trousers, which have been very acceptable for singing in choirs etc, as you are actually safer in black trousers rather than a skirt, when you have to get up onto rather perilous seating on stages or into choir stalls. Long johns definitely needed for churchs in the winter especially!
Yes, my go to choice.
I wear black or navy jeans, skinny of slim cut. Zara do nice jeans.
Your go to choice should be whatever you feel comfortable in.
I wear trousers more in Winter when it's cold but live in skirts and dresses in the Summer. Most of my trousers are M&S purely because they provide a longer leg length than most shops.
Yes, go for whatever you want, when you want and where you want, anything goes!!
I've bought some really warm ones from Uniqlo. There are shops in some big cities, but I had to get mine online. They also do extra warm stuff, Heat-tech, and it's fashionable.
I wear both dresses and trousers/leggings, but almost never skirts. Dresses have the advantage of not having to be matched with a top half, and are cool in summer. Trousers are usually warmer, and as I knit a lot I have a million jumpers, so am never short of something to wear with them. I wear them in spring, autumn and winter.
I like LauRie for both jeans and slightly dressier trousers, and have several velvet pairs from different brands (probably all bought in sales) for dressing up.

Hi. No, I wear trousers quite a lot but they are all jeans. I tend to wear a dress for ladies wot lunch but noticed at Christmas that I was the only one on ten who was wearing a dress. They all looked lovely so I wondered what other people did to wear nice trousers.
