There is obviously lots of media attention citing how appalling he is and all the vile nonsense he's been up to.
However, I see no effort being made by the American political system or the judiciary to actually stop the illegal and immoral acts he is carrying out and /or remove him from office.
Has any one any insight in to this?

What are they actually doing in America to stop Trump?
(156 Posts)I’m assuming, and don’t actually know, it’s because the Republicans pretty much dominate both Congress and the House of Representatives (have I got this right?)
So Democrats have little authority or power?
In my view I’m astounded no one is appearing to do much to stop him, but I have read of some of his actions being halted by the courts.
Also, I don’t really understand the “executive orders” process, but on the surface these seem to allow the POTUS to do more of less what they choose.
Here are some links about legal challenges. A bit of Googling will find more. there are also many social media pages reporting on organisations resisting in states such as Oregon, Minnesota, and many more.

Wasn't there talk of impeachment ?
The only thing that matters to most Americans is money and fame. The media made Trump by putting him on their screens and people thought he must therefore be very special because he had so much money.
They also loved him because he wasn't a politician, and for some reason they gave him the most political poweron the planet.
Many continue to love him- many are worried but feel afraid to say so because that's how facism works. Others hate him and want him gone and they are growing in number...
Are we learning the lessons from the US experience? From the media and the supposed popularity of reform I would say not and may well find ourselves in a similar situation very soon...
It's a bit like whack-a-mole. You bash down one bad idea of Trump's, and another pops up.
It is great that the citizens are climbing above the deliberate shock tactics, and are beginning to gain some 'wins'.
There is a lot of talk regarding his belligerent nonsense re Greenland being a distraction from his releasing the Epstein files which he has been ordered to do but so far has not.
Another theory being that he needs to be involved in a (manufactured) war in order to put off the mid term elections later this year.

Second try at answering, my first effort got lost somewhere.
He has been impeached twice but survived. Impeachment is actually the same thing as indicted - the accused/impeached president still has to undergo a trial in the Senate.
There are answers to questions on impeachment at www.reddit.com/r/Askpolitics/comments/1qeromz/what_exactly_happens_after_an_impeachment/
We should be attending also to what Stephen Miller is saying. I suspect he is one of the puppet masters.
There have been many and various attempts to rein Trump in in and there are many ongoing legal cases, but all these actions are being taken mainly at state level.
The main problem is that the president's authority is almost paramount and when you get some one like Trump to prepared to run roughshod and dismiss anyone who dares question him, it gets difficult. if a Trump opponent is dismissed - and many have been, he is replaced by a Trump stooge.
Trump is surrounded by as nasty a group of ,mainly, men on the make, who would render their own children down for lard if it was to their advantage, all of them contunually acting outside the law.
I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that the only difference between the USA and other unpleasant countries like North Korea, Iran, China or Russia is that, as yet, except for the occasional protestor, there have been no widepsread extra-judicial murdering of his opponents.
Thank you Elegran. Those links are very useful for getting an overall picture of what's happening.
It's staggering the number of cases being taken out against Trump and the administration.
I wonder what you expect us to do? Honestly. Especially when all of our checks and balances have failed us because The Heritage Foundation spent 40 years planning this.
We are fighting in the courts, and winning. We are protesting. The only thing left is to literally pick up our guns and start a Revolution. Which, IMO has already started in Minneapolis.
His ICE goons are literally killing people in the streets. He is threatening to send an elite troop of Paratroopers into Minneapolis. Steven Miller just told the local police to surrender now.
And Steven Miller IS the puppet master. He is the one to be paying attention to.

FWIW, the Estee Lauder heir is behind the Greenland push.

Greenland has rare earth minerals that US needs - but that China needs even more. Why would Americans want to stop their President from acting in their best interests? The action against Venezuela is about oil, but with similar motivation. Links below to two interesting conversations with much more detail. Second one is long but very interesting.
Trump is a useful idiot. Distracting everyone from the technocrats wielding real power. While everyone is jumping up and down about Trump, who is paying attention to the positioning of Vance, who could do 2 terms in the White House.
(Monica makes a similar point - with a brilliant turn of phrase 😂).

Seconded. I can’t ever remember a time before when the POTUS is on the UK news virtually every day. And not for good things
.
The Midterm Accountability Project is being developed as a pathway to the midterms. Don't have details at the moment.
Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger, sworn in on Saturday, has already rescinded a mandate that required state and local law enforcement to play the role of federal immigration agents in certain circumstances.
Little step by little step, and it will all add up.
Like other Posters, I read daily updates from The Democratic Coalition.
@imaround I wonder what you expect us to do? Honestly
Your situation seems so incomprehensible to us, because in our system (UK) if a Prime Minister goes rogue they are toast. We have ways to get shot of them fast at any stage of the current term . Their own party will turn on them (for making that party unelectable ) .
Americans often think we are "subjects" totally subservient to Monarchy.but that's not true either. If a Prince or even King goes feral , becomes an embarrassment, he goes too.
We just can't imagine a free western country where any single person is so completely unassailable as Trump appears to be.
Butterandjam Take to the streets, demonstrate your contempt for him. Lobby your senators and congressmen. Write to the papers, write on social media, speak to local radio and TV stations and encourage everyone you know to do the same
In order for evil to prevail it only needs good men to do nothing. Do something!
The United States had a checks and balances system that worked for 250 years. When there is an entire party who is committed to destroying a country, not much else will stop it.
Keep Farage and big money out of your elections if you don't want this happening in The UK.
Absolutely imaround.

I think that’s a massive generalisation and a tad insulting for the 48% who didn’t, and never would, vote for him.
Just like us, they are a very mixed bunch of citizens.
However, I agree most heartily with you last para. It scares the bejesus out of me! I never thought Trump would be POTUS once, let alone twice, I didn’t think Johnson would be our PM. Whilst I’d never vote for either of them, I take nothing for granted anymore.

Well we will do our best, but Farage’s power and confidence appears to grow daily.
Us normal citizens each side of the pond need to stand by each other.
