Good morning Mick and all who follow from another dry and dark dawn on the north Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 coast where I’m up early to start a busy week.

First to Dad’s where biting-of-the-tongue will be the order of the day🤬. He had the brass nerve to ring me yesterday and pompously announce “Ive finished burning “your” rubbish!”

DD laughed and said he’s very brave over the phone isn’t he…

What a lovely romantic chap you have Kitty 🥰. Hope all you Scottish grans had a good Burns Night. The staff at PG Towers insisted on joining in with the liquid celebrations 🥃🤦‍♀️ last night!

Hope Jax is on the mend and not going round the bend with the enforced unbizziness 😉 and everyone has an easier week ahead 💐

Good morning from Bristol. It has cooled down a bit and is dryish atm.

Quiet day yesterday, although one church announcement was rather funny. “They” had made too much mashed potato for the Burns night and we were invited to help ourselves so as not to throw it away. Bowls and clingfilm was provided.

I did avail myself as I had beetroots with which I wanted to make borscht, requiring potato. I’m not a great carb eater and potato is my least favourite, rice is.

Nothing much today - Tesco, and possibly the monthly OAP film on in the church hall by “Home Instead”. It’s always some feel-good film, usually involving old people. Depends a bit on the weather.

Carpe diem dear friends, have a peaceful day. 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Mick and others from Polmont where it's currently 3°. I can't tell the weather yet as it's too dark.
Yesterday was a full on morning with the boys. Dgs2 came through at 7 full of the joys, then went back to wake his brother. They were very good. We made a den in my bedroom, briefly went out to the garden then there was lots of drawing and painting. Once they went home, I gradually tidied up. Their influence could be seen in every room 😂
Today is early childcare day. I had a reasonable sleep in 2 sessions but my feet are sore this morning, so painkillers will be needed. I'll head up to dds soon. Once I've dropped off the boys at school/nursery, I'll come home for a nap before going back to the school. A session in the school library followed by a thing with dgs1 which dd can't manage. Afterwards, dgs1 will go to football training and I'll give dgs2 dinner. Dd is going to be late because of motorway issues. I will probably have an early night. Have a good day all

Bellasnana Mon 26-Jan-26 05:38:40

Good morning from Malta where it is wet, windy and the high today is 10°C with a low of 3°C. Maltese winter has arrived!🥶🥶

Went to Mass yesterday but didn’t do much else.

I woke up at 4am today so got up and watched a very good tennis match. There are a couple more to come but I’m going to get dressed and make a start on the kitchen which needs a good ‘bottoming’.

Hoping you all have a good day.🤗

Grandmabatty Mon 26-Jan-26 05:40:39

GrandMattie, the best borscht I ever had was on the train from Leningrad (as was) to Moscow. It was freshly made as was the chicken stew and ridiculously cheap.

Ashcombe Mon 26-Jan-26 05:58:44

Good morning from a dark and dry part of La Sarthe.

Today we have to take Perry to the cattery and we’ll use my car as DH’s has a slow puncture which he will get fixed when he’s back next month.

Following the storms, two suspicious objects were washed up in Torquay, one of which turned out to be a defunct diving cylinder! I hope the weather will be calmer for our return ferry tomorrow afternoon. The photo shows the lovely day we had on Saturday here, viewed from DH’s living room.

Hope today is the start of a good week for you all. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from Shropshire.Dry at the moment but rain forecast for most of the day.

Yesterday was a day of rest and recuperation. We had vegetarian haggis, neeps and tatties for our evening meal, delicious!

A morning at home then we will venture out this afternoon to hopefully purchase new trainers for DH.Not as straightforward as it sounds, he is very fussy about footwear so it could be the first of several shopping trips🤦🏼‍♀️

Hoping Jax and Marydoll are both improving 🙏🏻thoughts with FGT and all our absent good morning friends.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Susan56 Mon 26-Jan-26 06:27:50

Safe travels Ash and olddudders and hope it’s a calm crossing for you🙏🏻

GrannyGravy13 Mon 26-Jan-26 06:34:00

Good morning from S E Essex, it’s currently 3° and cloudy.

I have to attack the ironing mountain today, I wish I wasn’t so set on ironed bedding 🤦‍♀️

Safe crossing tomorrow Ascombe

Thinking of all our morning pals not posting 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from a dark, rainy, breezy Cornwall.

I was amazed to see that they've already managed to get the Dawlish line running again after the storm. It's a favourite station of mine, for its proximity to the sea.

I've deliberately stayed in for two days - unheard of for me - and it's been delicious. I've pottered, crocheted, sewn, jigsawed and read. Birds galore have been coming for the organic oats I put out, including a gull the size of a cat, plus a very big and healthy-looking squirrel. The robins wait for me to open my curtains, then they descend from the wood, chirruping away.

I've applied for a one-day course called
Woodworking for Women, which fascinates me as I'm used to using the same equipment as men so I'm wondering how it will be adapted for women. 🤔 I just want to refine some of my skills and maybe learn some new tips. I do find the title a bit offputting but as it's at a very reputable College I'll give it a go.

Today I'm off to my Lego library for the second session of a new social group, run by a woman in a wheelchair who comes with her assistance dog. It'll be interesting to see who it attracts as the weeks go by as the town it's in is very different economically and socially from my own. I lived there several years ago and really enjoy the people I meet there and the friendliness in the shops.

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.

We are up early as DS1 has a hospital appointment in Sheffield at 9am. DH will do it as, although I am driving now, my energy levels are not reliable yet.

This afternoon we are having a carpet fitted in one of the bedrooms and we are a visit from DS2 and our eldest grandson. We don't see him so often as he lives in Edinburgh with his Finnish girlfriend.

Have the best day possible everyone.

RosesandLilac Mon 26-Jan-26 06:43:20

Good morning, it’s merely damp here in south Glos which makes a change from thoroughly soaked!
We did a longer dog walk yesterday and enjoyed a coffee and a hot beef roll from the market place vendors. It didn’t rain until later but the skies were threatening for much of the walk. The dogs enjoyed it going somewhere different.
My feet and ankles were very painful for the rest of the day despite wearing proper walking boots; I slept badly too because they ache.
I learned that one of out two GPs is leaving this week, that means that the very poor service from our surgery will be even more dire. There’s a 7 week wait to see a nurse and there will only be a doctor for 2 days a week. Utterly ridiculous for a large village with a sizeable elderly population.
I’m beginning to wonder if I should register at a neighbouring village, it’s a 15 minute drive 🤔, I already drive 10 minutes to get to ours here.
I have a pile of ironing to tackle this morning and then it’s housework.
Best wishes to everyone 🌹

Good morning from sodden s somerset, lots more rain later and a cold easterly wind

Grandmabatty I wish those feet of yours would hurry up and calm down, to give you some much-needed peace. You are very stoic

I walked a different route around town yesterday, lovely to have so many chats, all with dog walkers. It was very pleasant and this walk was flat.

I don`t have any appointments this week, I like that, it leaves me free to do what I want. I might bottom my bedroom, it keeps me on top of house maintenance, just a bit every day. I will include wardrobe fluff today

I bought a long coat online yesterday. I was fed up of my longer skirt getting soaked, It is olive green and waterproof, warm lining and breathable with a hood. I can wear wellies with it, or posh boots. Famous make, £60 off and not wax. I have a shorter version in maroon, love it and use it every winter, this new one is more suitable for the crummy weather we are having lately. They last and last

Trying to do one in and one out, I am going wardrobe and door- hook diving later. That was an impetus for me to test a long, zipped dressing gown I made a few years ago, I like wool and a few years ago bought a length of wool mix, coat -thickness fabric, washed it and made myself a cold-weather dressing gown. I am wearing it today and have decided to keep this one, it is very warm, heavy, has a hood and big pockets. I have a thick cotton one hanging on a door, seldom worn, a definite candidate plus something else as yet unknown

Today, I will be off out on foot again, don`t want to be getting cabin fever. I need to wear my old tatty trainers as I have to walk through lots of mud and puddles, the road is being repaired

Pantglas try not to dwell on that hurtful comment, said in a moment of thoughtlessness

Have a good day

Good morning from Sheffield
We ended up walking the Five Weirs walk. This is a walk through the industrial part of Sheffield by the side of the river Don and includes five weirs . It was very drizzly but we did enjoy it. We walking the length of it and then caught the tram back to where we parked.

Tonight I am going with DS2 and family to see Big Night of the Musicals in Manchester. I watch it every year . It will be exciting to be there live. Love a live show.

Take care flowers

NannyJan53 Mon 26-Jan-26 06:52:46

Good morning from a damp and dark Black Country. Oh for a bit of Sun!

Just chopped all the veg to make my chicken and veg soup, with pearl barley.

Line dancing at 12.30, but need to pop into town first to take a parcel to the Post Office. Return of a dress I ordered but I don't really like.

Thoughts with all our absent friends who are struggling right now.

Greyduster Mon 26-Jan-26 06:57:09

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark. I have only just managed to fire up my iPad as it was dead as a door nail this morning. We are promised a dry day so I have put so laundry in the machine.

I was on my feet most of yesterday and exhausted by nine thirty. I slept until five forty five. Unheard of these days. The family were in good spirits yesterday and enjoyed the two curries I made - there wasn’t any left anyway. I have absolutely no idea how today will unfold except that I have to put petrol in the car, and try and get some exercise.

Safe travels, Ash and OD.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Gagagran Mon 26-Jan-26 06:57:36

Good Morning everyone from the south coast. 9 degrees on my garden thermometer and dry, so far. Tomorrow is forecast to be heavy rain again.

Ironing is the plan for this morning and I want to try and get a large dent out of a table lamp shade. Someone knocked if off its table and I can't push it back to shape. Google tells me I can do it with the steam from the iron (not touching with the plate of the iron). I need to have small towel to protect my hand and push it out from the inside. Will have a go.

Best wishes to all and especially those who are struggling in any way. sunshine

GillyMo Mon 26-Jan-26 07:02:29

Good morning from Kent where it is five degrees. Rain forecast later.

Ashcombe love the little duck ornament in your photo.

Yesterday we had a a delicious roast at a restaurant beside a river. I saw some geese curled up by the riverbank having a lunchtime nap.

Today I am babysitting dgs2 so a busy day. I don't need any yoga classes when I'm babysitting as I'm continually up and down and crawling around the floor. Thankfully I have not done myself any injuries so far but need to be careful all the same.

Wishing all a good day.

cornergran Mon 26-Jan-26 07:27:54

Morning Mick, morning All from a very damp if currently dry corner of Somerset.

A decent day yesterday, reasonably productive with some better news about our friend in the evening. No plans to venture forth today. Mr C is going to paint a couple of walls in the kitchen and there’s plenty for me to be getting on with.

Best wishes to you all.

BlueSapphire Mon 26-Jan-26 07:28:54

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton,.should be dry today.

A quiet day at home yesterday, cleaned the kitchen and utility room, washed the towels. Managed to find an 'outdoor' company (Cotswold Outdoor) which could supply me with a physical gift card (for DS-in-law's birthday) by post; should arrive today.
I also ordered a new cat carrier.
Spent the afternoon with the weekend newspapers.

Yoga this morning then coffee at our little cafe round the corner.
Need to clean the bathrooms and change the bedding when I get back.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Grandmabatty Mon 26-Jan-26 07:32:40

Karma many thanks. I don't feel very stoic at times! I probably should go to the doctors but I'm putting it off

Redcar Mon 26-Jan-26 07:34:14

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s dark out, so probably cloudy, but dry at the moment. I think a cloudy day is forecast, before rain for the rest of the week. More sun is needed!
Yesterday was drizzly and cold, so no walk or gardening!
DD1 and family came for a couple of hours, the 7 year old did her homework here, the 10 year old was playing on her dad’s laptop.

Not much planned for today, I’ll go out for a walk as I’m getting bored indoors. Some ironing to do too.

bellasnana a real drop in temperature for you, I hope winter doesn’t last long!

Thinking of those who aren’t feeling 100% this morning, and hoping the day brings some improvement for you. I’m missing some of our regular posters and hoping you are ok and will be back with us soon.

Have the best Monday possible everyone.

EkwaNimitee Mon 26-Jan-26 07:37:26

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark Carlisle, the mornings are not hurrying to get lighter.
I went for an early walk after breakfast yesterday, all very quiet it being Sunday when the workers are lying in.
I did the ironing later then it was a paper reading and admin day.
Today, the usual routine housework and laundry. I'll get through it somehow, I'm really tired after a poor night's sleep feeling unwell. Nothing much I'm sure, probably brought on by overdoing it in the garden Saturday afternoon.
I'm unlikely to be tempted outside today, the forecast is for strong winds, force 9 in the Irish Sea. Lucky you're not crossing that Ash !

Wishing you all a good day.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 26-Jan-26 07:37:32

Good morning from a chillier than late Stockport.
A very quiet weekend for me, my GD remarked that I am not well and I have to agree so I have just sent an email request to the GP surgery.
I have not felt right since a viral infection in December, it will be interesting to hear if I get a phone call back today.
Probably down to my age again.
I hope all is well with everyone on here and that those also not well have a decent day.
