👋🏻 anyone around? I can’t sleep, my mind is racing after having a CT scan under the 2 week process. I greatly suspect my breathlessness isn’t cardiac because my chest xray a couple of weeks ago has shown up something that isn't just ‘odd blood vessels’ as told by the consultant in ambulatory care….. She didn’t convince me at all and didn’t tell me I was on the 2 week pathway either.
So, I have a 4-6 week wait to hear the CT results.
What will be, will be 🙏

Grammaretto Tue 17-Mar-26 02:58:22

I'm wide awake and bushy tailed 😔 it must be 3am!

Oh Roses! What a worry for you. That wait is grim but what's the saying- we die if we worry and we die if we don't. or something like that

Look after yourself . Plan a few treats while you wait.

JamesandJon33 Tue 17-Mar-26 03:01:45

I have been awake since just after one. No sign of sleep yet.

HelterSkelter1 Tue 17-Mar-26 05:54:28

Another sleep till 5.15. Again no idea why. Have made a large mug of tea and will have a couple of paracetamol. I feel very achy all over and have done for months now and paracetamol does take the edge off it.
Roses waiting is awful. Maybe you are on the 2 week pathway as the wait to have the scan without would be far too long. Be brave. Lots of treats.

BlueBelle Tue 17-Mar-26 06:49:26

Another one with good wishes for Roses
I was on the 6 week pathway 3 years ago it all happened so quickly but I waited the full 6 weeks for a call up, an op happened very quickly after that and then a second preventative op and three years on I ve forgotten almost it ever happened. Still have 6 monthly check ups for another couple of years but it was handled so well now I look back, although it didn’t seem it at the time Good luck

Maybe you’re worrying less about it Helter I do think the more laid back we can be about non sleep the better

Esmay Tue 17-Mar-26 08:02:25

I'm wishing you well Roses 🌹 .
I fell asleep watching Face The Music and woke up to watch Far From The Madding Crowd .
And managed to get to sleep asleep again .
Over the last couple of years I've developed hay fever and until the anti histamines kick in I feel so congested .

So this morning 2am I realised the sewage pipe was blocked. I arranged for the water people to come out and pushed notes through my neighbours doors as quietly as possible. Told them the ref number and phone number of the drains people. Couldn’t get to sleep till 5. Later that morning went to the house where the blockage usually originates from to check that the engineers could access it. Was told the other neighbour was going to fix it later that day so I phoned the water people and asked them not to come out till tomorrow but that I would cancel it if it was sorted. When this evening I spoke to the two neighbours they complained that I’d woken them up by pushing the note through their letterbox. I cancelled the engineers only to find that my drain was still blocked. It ended up with one neighbour telling me to leave their property ( that was where the blockage was and no one was keeping me informed about what was happening) and another one shutting a door in my face when I tried to tell them there was still a problem ( she said I’d been rude to people)I’m going away on Saturday for four weeks and can’t use any water in my house ( including the loo). Whenever there’s a blockage I’m the one that alerts everyone as I’m at the end of the row but no one has ever thanked me. Everything I’ve done today has been to help everyone. In fifty years this is only the second time I’ve ever had an argument with any of my neighbours ( the first one was about a fence and the neighbour, unknown to me, was in the early stages of Alzheimer’s). I don’t think I’ll sleep tonight as I’m so upset and wound up. I can’t believe that the only comment I had was about me putting the note through the letter box. At 4 am I was still trying to unblock my drain. I never lose my temper but when I do it actually makes me ill. And then I start blaming myself for everything.

JamesandJon33 Thu 19-Mar-26 06:16:30

Bless you MayBee. Hope all gets sorted. Some people are just naturally ungrateful, aren’t they. Have a good time when you are away and try to forget all this. As they say ‘ All things shall pass’ which applies to your sewage system also. 🤭

Not the same at all but just commiserating, my kitchen outside drain is blocked, I m very careful about stuff going down from the kitchen, but I don’t think it’s from the sink, although I have a cover over it with slats in it I think soil has got down outside
So rubber gloves on and hands and knees up to my armpit in sludge but I can’t do it, so looks like I ll have to get the folks out, that ll be an expense, at least it only affects me.
Always something May

Bluebelle. My outside drain gets blocked easily from blown in leaves. I am going to
cut a length off my stiff hose which has a bit of flexibility and use that to poke around before buckets of soapy water. I think I will be able to push it round a bend. I need a drain cover or even just some chicken wire over the top of the drain. Must do that before the autumn this year. My To .Do list gets longer!

HelterSkelter1 Thu 19-Mar-26 07:43:12

My To Do list will outlive me!!!! Maybe DDs will inherit it!

MayBee70 Thu 19-Mar-26 10:23:51

At least one of the neighbours came round this morning and we’ve made peace. He said did I want to apologise to the other neighbour and I said Ihave nothing to apologise for given that the blockage originated on her property and I had been trying to sort it out for her. I did manage to get back to sleep this morning. I still woke up feeling quite sick and shaky though and my heart rate whenI checked it last night was off the scale. There is a plan of action now though for when it happens again. I’ve still got an open sewage drain directly outside my back door. Thank goodness the dog is having a few days at my partners; I don’t know what I’d do if she was here as I can’t walk her because of my knee. If I hadn’t been awake at 2am yesterday morning none of this would have happened!

Have you tried hot water and washing up liquid?

MayBee70 Thu 19-Mar-26 10:45:53

“Does fairy liquid unclog drain?
"Pouring a little washing-up liquid followed by hot water down the drain can be an effective first step to get things flowing again. "The washing-up liquid helps to break down greasy deposits and loosen trapped debris, while the hot water flushes it through more easily”.

Cheesed off. I’ve been awake for the last two hours.
Normally it wouldn’t bother me, but I’ve got a very full day, including hosting a meeting this afternoon and I need to have all my faculties about me.
Re. Drains Clogged with fat - I find washing soda and hot water more effective.

MayBee70 Fri 20-Mar-26 05:18:57

Been awake for a while. No one came to clean the blockage yesterday. Three days without a working loo is not pleasant…sad And my bad cold seems to have come back with a vengeance.

JamesandJon33 Fri 20-Mar-26 05:45:51

A very disturbed night. Woke several times by very vivid dreams. Coat and shoes stolen in one … but all a bit sad and worrying.

Doodledog Fri 20-Mar-26 08:45:19

I've been awake since 4.00am. I was tempted to log on here, but am trying not to pick my phone up when I can't sleep. As ever, I have a busy day after a sleepless night. I don't think it's the thought of the day itself (the cleaner comes today, I have a class this morning and a list of chores/errands for this afternoon, plus a visit to my MIL in a care home). None of that is stressful, but I wonder if knowing that I'm not able to sleep till I wake is making things worse.

I'm very tired though, and am not going to be on top form for my class, or feel remotely like doing the chores and errands. My watch tells me that I more usually report being tired on Fridays than any other day of the week, and my routine is usually much the same. Food for thought?

Luckygirl3 Fri 20-Mar-26 09:39:55

It's such rubbish isn't it? I am sorry this insomnia problem is so widespread amongst the gran brigade.

HelterSkelter1 Sat 21-Mar-26 03:53:25

Hello anyone wideawake. I woke up at 3.00 and have been reading the news headlines and will make a cup of tea and then read my latest library book of short stories by Helen Dunmore. All very different. A hard back in slightly larger print.
I hope all regular posters are fast asleep.

Doodledog Sat 21-Mar-26 04:09:29

Afraid not. Again, I have things to do in the morning, so here I am. I need to be able to pay attention, too - I am more likely to fall asleep I think. It’s so annoying when this happens.

grandMattie Sat 21-Mar-26 05:02:05

I’m awake, been awake an hour. I always put off doing anything for at least an hour in the (usually vain) hope that I’ll go back to sleep.
I managed to have a nap in the afternoon so coped with my 12 hour day of busyness.
Today is much quieter, for which I am grateful.

JamesandJon33 Sat 21-Mar-26 05:33:34

A little later today, around 4:30. Tired last evening but watched another episode of Woman of Substance, until the predictability got on my nerves. Sunny again today so out in the garden I expect. ….as snooze in the sun?

BlueBelle Sat 21-Mar-26 06:07:30

I ve been awake a few times just relaxing trying not to think some vivid dreams I can’t remember
No Maybe my drain problem is nothing to do with fat or food going down, it’s an outside problem, although it has a cover on it , the cover had moved slightly and I believe with the rain and wind etc over the winter some soil around it has got into it I ll have one more go but I think it’s a ‘pay for’ job….boo

Not sure if this link will work but I’m still in such a state about the row with my neighbours about the blocked drain that I can’t sleep. So I’m hoping that listening to some Tom Hardy bedtime stories will help me to wind down
