Good Morning Everyone,
On this dark, but dry at the moment6 here in Brackley this morning.
A day indoors , I did suffer yesterday in the cold wind as I walked into it, but I recovered .
I wanted to watch some cycling on TV from Spain events washed out weather wise.
Health OK but taking extra care,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a wet, chilly spot in south Glos where it’s just about 1° at the moment.
Yesterday morning’s glorious sunshine was so welcome, we walked the dogs as the sun rose.
I had 5 hours of zoom art class, really enjoyed it as usual, although I have mixed feelings about the end result!
I felt really cold after sitting so long, I hadn’t put the heater on, and it took me a while to warm up again.
Nothing much planned today, more crocheting later I expect 😊
Best wishes to everyone 🌹

Good morning from a wet Bristol. Lots of cold wind and rain today after yesterday’s sunny if cold day.
The vicar wants a great deal of bunting to celebrate the church’s centenary this year. I was given some fabric to cut out. I made 100. I don’t know how many the organiser wants, she just left envelopes with fabric and a template in the church. I’ll probably offer to sew some up.
The afternoon was spent trying finish a beanie and also the quilt.
A shame that England lost the Calcutta cup yesterday. DH always watched the game. DS told me that coincidentally the cricket team was playing in Calcutta, I hope that they are doing better there.
Church this morning, then my upstairs (Tesco) neighbour has invited me to lunch in her flat. No dinner to make!
May all the mountaineers have a peaceful, day, especially fgt.
Carpe died 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Malta where it seems we are to have a wet, windy day with a high of 14°C.

I didn’t go out yesterday but got a lot of jobs done, changed the sheets and did some laundry.

Had a lovely long FaceTime with DD2 and DGD in the US. I miss them so much. It’s over three years since I saw them in person.

I’ve woken up feeling not very well, headache, nausea, still coughing and have a stuffed up nose so I think I will stay put for now.

Wishing you all a good day. Thoughts with the FGTs as always.🙏🏻

I’m so sorry, bellas. Tail end of ‘flu? Or new germs generously donated by DGSs?
Look after yourself! 🫂

Good morning from a drizzly Torbay following a fine day yesterday with quite a few hours of sunshine.

There was a good turnout for the Coffee Morning and we won a bottle of Merlot in the raffle! DH had hoped for a pasty from a nearby bakery but it was closed so we enjoyed lunch at a nearby bistro which was an unexpected treat!

Today I’m the accompanist for the early service again. At my request, some fairly easy hymns have been chosen! Unfortunately, I haven’t slept well but no doubt I’ll cope.

I hope whatever you do today brings you joy. A blessed Sunday to all. 🦩💐✝️🥰🦩

Good Morning everyone from a dry-so-far south coast and it's not as cold as yesterday was. The sun was lovely though!

Just struggled to put a clean pillowcase on my new v-shaped pillow. Not easy with a dodgy left arm/shoulder and the design of the case doesn't help. It really needs a zip right across the top edge.

More household chores await this morning and expecting the usual video call from DD at some point. She and her partner are off on holiday to Ecuador, in March so they are busy planning lots of exciting trips there. They love their long haul, exotic (to us) holidays.

Kind thoughts of all our GNs who are struggling with worries, health issues or sadness. I hope the day brings some ease and improvement.

Grammaretto Sun 15-Feb-26 07:03:51

Good morning all from the Angus coast. I'm at a pottery away weekend, staying with a friend. Yesterday's sunshine was a joy but I fear snow today as I'll be driving south this afternoon.

We were thrilled here to hear the rugby result!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Bellasnanna

I shall read your news later.
Have a good day everyone.

ginny Sun 15-Feb-26 07:12:32

Good morning all. We had a very windy night and it is still blowing now.
I have just put two lemon meringue pies in the oven ready for family dinner this evening , a celebration for DH s birthday last week and MILs tomorrow.
Homemade Lasagne for mains which I took out of the freezer last night.
I’m out at 9.30 to meet with my scrapbooking pals but will leave a little early.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 15-Feb-26 07:18:39

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It’s feels a little cold but there isn’t any frost,

I won’t be going to church this morning. I still have a dreadful cold. The cough is beginning to clear but my cold is appalling.

We didn’t have our special Valentine meal yesterday (apart from the chocolate) so we’ll do it today.

I’ve had too much time to think about my son’s falling out. It will be two years soon. I suppose what I’m particularly sad about is that we won’t be having a family Golden Wedding celebration in May. I told OH that we would only do that if we’re all there. I know it’s just a small thing if we look at the state of the world currently. Anyway.

Have a good day.

Good morning from Sheffield

Another dismal day,we are to have snow later by all accounts

We had a wander around a local market town yesterday, not a lot of shops but the ones there were nice and different. We found a lovely cafe with very good coffee

DH has been losing weight( on purpose) and we found a nice new coat for him. Half price in a sale so he is very pleased with that

Not sure what to do today, it’s so cold and blustery. I might find some indoor jobs to do rather than going out

Take care everyone flowers

Good morning from a damp, still, quiet Cornwall. From today First Buses have closed their depots and withdrawn completely from the county, with Transport for Cornwall taking over. It's a big upheaval for bus travellers but I look forward to exploring via new routes. One of my family works for the new company and I believe the service will be better than before.

Anyway, at lunchtime I'll new-bus it to my son's whence I'll be whisked to the north coast to watch my granddaughter's riding lesson. Thank you for your caring comments about her hockey injury. I'll see later how it is.

Yesterday I sorted one of my tool boxes but got bored trying to decide what to keep and what to discard so I have that task to finish. I met my younger son for coffee in Café Nero. It was lovely to catch up with him but it's a shame the café allows yapping dogs. I was a bit lack-lustre due to double antibiotics for a seized-up jaw infection but still enjoyed it and managed to eat a muffin with a teaspoon, posting it through my limited jaws in tiny bits. 😂

Greyduster Sun 15-Feb-26 07:24:25

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a murky, very cold South Yorkshire. We are not likely to see the sun today. Yesterday’s blue sky is already a distant memory.

I cut my roses down yesterday. I’m hopeless at pruning so they will have to take their chances as always. There is a lot of work to be done in the garden this year and I’m not sure I’m up to a lot of it now. If anything drives me out of this house, it will be the garden.

DS is coming down to spend the day with me today. I shall cook a roast dinner. Hopefully we may get a chance to stretch our legs this afternoon.

Have a good day folks.

Marzipan22 Sun 15-Feb-26 07:30:18

It's not a small thing though llfl is it? My sons are chalk and cheese and I'd be gutted if they fell out. I remember when you first mentioned it and can't believe it's been two years.

luluaugust Sun 15-Feb-26 07:33:11

Good morning from a wet W Kent. Awful night with indigestion after a hot curry I think my curry nights may be over. Quite day and less food.
Bella and llfl hope you feel better soon
Best wishes

Susan56 Sun 15-Feb-26 07:37:08

Good morning from Shropshire where we are forecast sun, rain and a gentle breeze.

We have free electricity today so lots of laundry and tumble drying will be done.DH is going to defrost the freezer before we fill it up tomorrow.

We feel the same about our garden Greyduster😢

Hoping all is well with Pantglas.

Thoughts to all in the sick bay and all with mountains to climb.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

kittylester Sun 15-Feb-26 07:38:15

Good morning all from a chilly, sodden North Leicestershire.

We expect DD2 and family to arrive around lunchtime for a couple of nights. We haven't seen them for quite a while so will enjoy a good catch up.

Have the best day possible everyone.

baubles Sun 15-Feb-26 07:53:41

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. It’s been so cold further last few days, we now have a smattering of snow.

I’m sorry that your plans for your Golden Wedding celebrations have been spoiled by your sons’ falling out LLFL, I would feel the same way though. Very sad.

Hope you feel better soon Bella.

I had a fairly lazy day yesterday. We certainly don’t make a big deal of Valentine’s Day but we always exchange cards. We did laugh yesterday though as, not for the first time, we gave each other the same card.

Today will be Mass and DH will watch the rugby, yesterday we celebrated the victories of both our countries of birth. 🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿smile

Wishing everyone the best day possible. Hugs to all those who are struggling.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 15-Feb-26 07:54:12

According to to my iPad it’s 3° but will feel like -5° with light rain.

The Imp came in for a cuddle around 6.30am, he went back to sleep, but has developed a little cough. We are off to watch his big brother at his go-carting birthday party this afternoon. We have had to explain to him that he is too short to join them racing. We are expecting a few tears.

Thinking of all our morning friends with troubles 🙋‍♀️

Redcar Sun 15-Feb-26 07:58:57

Good morning everyone from a wet and windy south coast. The sea looks quite rough this morning, not sure if a walk on the beach is a good idea!

My DDs and I had a relaxing morning at a local spa, followed by lunch. We went to a nearby seaside town in-the afternoon, along with hundreds of others making the most of a rare sunny day.
Not sure what we’re doing today, but I’m sure it will involve using the indoor hot tub and pool in the house where we’re staying.

Thinking of all who are struggling at the moment and hoping that life treats them a little more kindly.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Grandmabatty Sun 15-Feb-26 08:05:47

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and grey. No sign of blue skies here. No snow either grammaretto so you may be ok driving later. grandMattie the rugby went Scotlands way for once! Bellasnana there are so many bugs around. Take care.
Yesterday I met my friend for breakfast. We spent a lovely 2 hours blethering. The breakfast was nice too. Once home, I washed all the whites, dried it and remade the bed. I pottered about the house thereafter.
Today I'll have a trip to tesco to look forward to 🙄 then maybe a visit to the retail park to buy a gift card for a friend's birthday. I had a really good night so feel refreshed. I'm not sure what dinner will be. Possibly fish cakes for a change. Have a good day all.

brook2704 Sun 15-Feb-26 08:06:48

Good morning everfrom Inverness where it’s dry and bright, we’ve still got snow on the ground and it feels cold
A busy but enjoyable day yesterday, DD2 and the DGC came round for the afternoon and evening, it was lovely to see them all and catch up on all their news. Then this afternoon there’s a line dancing social event at the local village hall, they take place every month or so and there’s lots of dancing, chatting, teas, coffees and home baking etc. Hosted by lovely friendly ladies that are so welcoming
Family tensions and fall outs are always upsetting llfl especially when you’re stuck in the middle. I hope that they can put their differences aside and eventually reconcile
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

BlueSapphire Sun 15-Feb-26 08:11:03

Good morning everyone from a very dreary wet Northampton, rain for most of the day.

Yesterday's visit to the vet went well with both cats being not so stressed as last year. Their reputation had gone before them, and the.vet was ultra kind and.gentle. Their new cat carriers worked well. At least that's over and done with for another year - I think I get more stressed than the cats!

A lovely thing yesterday - DS.arrived.to take.us, complete with a large bunch of roses for me - "for Valentine's Day" he said. I had tears in my eyes as the last time I had flowers on the day they were from my darling late DH, eight years ago.

Then DS kindly offered to take me to the shops, dropped me off and picked me up a couple of hours later, so no lengthy waits for buses. I even had time for a coffee in Costa, where I met the mum of one of DD's childhood friends, and we had a lovely catch up, after 30 years!

The rugby was so depressing yesterday I gave up watching England, and I was also disappointed for Italy who came close to beating Ireland. However the rugby news wasn't all had this weekend, as on Friday my Saints team came back from 19-0 down to beat Harlequins 40-24!

Late brunch this morning then early afternoon I am off to the theatre for an opera gala concert. Shall go into town early as I have a top to take back to Primark.

Wishing all a pleasant and pleasant Sunday.

Marydoll Sun 15-Feb-26 08:12:41

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 5°C and wet. It was supposed to snow overnight, but to my great relief, it didn't.
DD is travelling back from holiday today and I was fretting.

I have had little sleep again, my RA was causing excrutiating pain. I have no idea, what has caused the flare up. I was up at 4.30 looking for pain relief and making hot water bottles to put on my joints.

Llft, Dollie's dad fell out with us all during the pandemic and refused to talk to us. We never quite knew why. Gradually, the ice melted. For the first time in four years Dollie's dad phoned my other son, to update him on DIL. It was a day, I never thought I would see.
Please do not give up hope. ♥️

I went to Mass last night for the first time in four weeks. I didn't do much, but was humbled by the number of people, who came looking for me, to ask after DIL.
One parishioner said that it was obvious from all the hugs, I received, that many people cared about me and had missed me being about..
One elderly and always forthright gentleman demanded to know where I had been. I jokingly asked if he had missed me. Of course, I did, he said 😪

I was shocked last night, when I received a message from DIL, to say her catheter had been removed and she had walked to the loo, unaided. A huge step forward.
Wee Dollie is missing her mum so much. She fel asleep, snuggled into me at Mass last night. 😍

Baubles, did your DH not have his op? I must have missed that.

A quiet day, I hope, I don't really want any visitors, just some peace and quiet,

I wish you all a pleasant day and best wishes for all in the sick bay.💐

madeleine45 Sun 15-Feb-26 08:23:14

good morning Mick and all GN's from a cold raining and miserable morning in North Yorkshire. What a change from yesterday! Have had a rubbish night , and am really hobbling and struggling this morning. What a change from yesterday, and how right it makes me feel about making the most of any decent day!

Yesterday, it took me quite a while to get ready and I am just definitely getting slower and slower to do anything to my annoyance. However my plan to take all food etc with me as it was valentines day, and I thought that everywhere would be busy and booked and expensive was true and very worthwhile, for the effort made. Still about an hour after I had hoped to leave I did get myself going at last.

Once I was actually on my way I relaxed and took my time, enjoying the countryside and a few flowers out etc. I made my way to Saltburn, and of course it was very busy, with everyone determined to make the most of the sunshine. It took me a couple of drives and cruising round the promenade to find somewhere that I could park, which would allow me to open the boot and get my buggy out.

I was eventually successful and was glad to then sit for a while, then made some coffee and had something to eat and used my binoculars to look out to sea and to watch the happenings around me. The world and his wife had decided to make the most of the day, and were out in force. The sea had a few brave souls paddling or swimming but quite a lot of the surfing brigade, all in their wet suits and making the most of the weather, but there was not a lot of waves for them to use. The promenade was extremely busy. Families of all kinds wandering by with small children trying out their tricycles or little bikes with stabilisers. Having to watch out for the dogs on very long leads causing a bit of a hazard across the prom, but the surface was good as it has recently been resurfaced. So after taking my coffee very slowly I had to take a deep breath and make a start.

So got the boot opened and checked that the power was working and ok on the buggy, before the effort of getting it out, which was a common sense thought I had had to try and work out a sensible and practical routine to learn to getting it out and set up. I wanted to do it all myself , but at the same time take the precaution of doing it with other people about, in case of some major hazard , where I would have to ask for help to get it back in the car etc.,

It took me a while to get it out and sorted , I was rather slow, partly because my back was so painful, but more chickening out a little and checking and rechecking that I was doing it all right, but eventually there I was, with thick jacket on, car locked, sunglasses at the ready and bits in bag with me. Then it was take a deep breath and give it a go! Ta Da !! Success and I began very slowly , checking that I had remembered the right sequences etc but then as I gained more confidence I , at last, regained my freedom to get around.

I had put my best binoculars and bits and pieces in the bag with me and then I was off and away. Taking my time I weaved my way through families and dog walkers and was able to go right along the promenade from where the funicular is at the moment missing along past flower beds and good views out to sea. As it used to be with the old AA people or when you used to see another car like your own and acknowledge it I was now part of the buggy brigade, noticing the various types of buggies passing me by. Local people with their big buggies taking the air and enjoying the sunshine and other skeleton style like mine, not so comfortable but more importantly allowing the riders to be independant. I even asked a couple walking by with their dog to take a picture of me on the buggy, so that I had the proof of my first real outing on my own, to show friends etc.

I was so pleased with my progress that thought to drive it further round and into the town, but then caution took over and I decided that for the first time, I should stop whilst I was ahead and not face the rough paving and manhole covers etc. I got back to the car without mishap, and my back was rather painful as were my knees, being in a different position from the big buggy and of course this one has a lot less springing. Then I thought of just taking the key in with me and having a sit down before making the effort to close it all down correctly and then the biggest effort would be getting it back into the car. But I thought, no dont put it off , as if I sat down and seized up I might be rather stuck.

Fortune favours the brave. After very slowly sorting it all out and getting it folded down etc I had the boot opened and moved the buggy nearer to the boot, ready to make the big effort of picking it up safely , without causing it or me a mischief, when a gentleman walking by asked if I would like him to put it in for me. I accepted gratefully and thanked him for his help. I then got myself organised and went off to Guisborough and called into cafe Nero, for a celebratory coffee. They were quite quiet being later in the afternoon and I was happy to enjoy my coffee, get warmed up a bit and read my paper. Then on the way home I called into a Tesco and got some shopping and arrived home very weary but very pleased with my outing.

It took an effort to get stuff from the car , and I was too weary to do anything much and just had a sandwich and a few crisps , too tired to make any effort cooking and went to bed early leaving the mess to sort out today. So as we say, take your pleasures and pay for them. It certainly feels like that today, as I creak around. But I have no major plans for the day and will be fine when the painkillers begin to work, and I can then potter about restoring things to their proper places, listening to desert island discs and private passions and ignoring the cold and wet outside. I must get my Makaton book out and make some effort as , all being well, I intend to go to the class tomorrow. I know that I wont be able to get the certificate , having missed a week, but it will still be good practise and I will also be able to see if I am doing it correctly, so that the teacher can point out any errors. It is so much harder to correct something if you have been doing it wrong for some time. Well that is the plan anyway, if I can stop coughing etc etc.

Hope you recover well today Mick and can find something interesting to watch on tv. Well done cutting out all that bunting Grandmattie and hope you enjoy your dinner. Bellasnana hope you will feel a bit better soon and keep snug and warm in the meantime. ginny I could just enjoy a slice of lemon meringue pie right now. Ladylfl , I hope you will feel better soon. Sorry to hear about your son s falling out. Is there anyone in the family or a friend of his that might be able to talk to him and see if the Golden Wedding might give him an excuse to come and join in? He could possibly be sorry about how things are but not see a way to return without having to make an apology or risk being turned down or whatever. I have a close friend where something similar had happened over quite a while, and fortunately they were both invited to another occasion, without being told that each other would be there. It allowed a meeting to take place without either party feeling that they had had to climb down from the original situation, but did provide an occasion, if begrudingly to begin with, for them to get back together and things are much better now.

Well I wish everyone a good day, with the memory of that little sunshine yesterday to cheer us and remind us that things should soon get better. Enjoy whatever you do and take it easy.
