The weather is grim, the news is abysmal, and on top of that we have the ups but more importantly ‘the downs’ of day to day life to contend with. So what are your comfort foods?
Mine are homemade soup with freshly baked bread from the Bakers shop and chocolate.

Tonight we are having pork pies from our favourite farm butchers, so much better than any supermarket ones I’ve ever had. I never used to be keen on pork pies before I tried these.

Real butcher's faggots. Slow cooker, a tin of ratatouille, equivalent of water. Slow cook high/medium 4 hours or high 8 hours. Add some gravy granules when nearly done. You don't have to do much else depending on individual taste, but very comforting.

Riversidegirl your post made me smile - I like that real Butchers make the faggots 🙂
Faggots just don’t taste the same as the ones my Mum’s Butcher brought on his van to the villages when I was young.
I loved them back then with mashed potatoes and peas.

Eggy bread.

Ooh, now I've not had eggy bread for ages! That's put me in the mood for it now.

I can't stand the frozen ones. They always fall apart too!

When I was young a neighbour of my grandma made faggots on a Thursday. I think her name was Rhoda. Down to her house I was sent with a pudding bowl and 6p. Best faggots I ever tasted
