Good morning from a dry Bristol!
Yesterday , I went with a neighbour to the OAP monthly film show, “Conclave”, which was excellent. It was packed, many went because of Ralph Fiennes, I went because of the subject matter. It was excellent.
I started my newest quilt, using just what I’ve got in the flat, 2” strips of green, yellow, orange and turquoise. It will be very busy.
Today, I’m minded to go into Bristol for backing fabric - I don’t have enough scraps for that; also into various shops with knitwear sales. Mine varies from 40 years to about 10.
May those I with difficulties have @ good day, remembering fgt especially.

Good morning Mick and all who follow from a dry and dark north Wales coast where I’m thoroughly enjoying the chamberpot ☕️ for the first time in days - tea in Egypt tends to be mint, not my thing🤢

Had a marvellous restorative 🌞 break with no worries on the Dad front and will pop to see him this morning with shopping and take him to see the nurse for samples, BP and whatever else…🤞

So sad to read of FGTs news - didn’t we all feel as if we knew Himself from her tales of gallivanting to their safe place in Spain? Him carrying a hold-all as she swanned along with a Kindle and a lipstick 💄…take care of yourself lovely🥰

I’ve barely touched the sides of all your news folks but I have seen brilliant pictures of sewing, scenery and scoffings - yes yours Bellasnana, cake and cookies looked lishus😋

I’ll pop along later and hope to catch up x

Bellasnana Tue 24-Feb-26 05:58:00

Good morning from Malta where the forecast is sunny and 20°C.

It was hot in the sun yesterday but an annoying cold breeze rather spoiled things although it was easy to spot the tourists who were all in shorts and not much else!

Had a lovely meet up with my friends. Our usual meeting place was closed so I took them up to Mellieha where we sat enjoying the beautiful views while having a sandwich and a good catch up. They leave today but will be back in seven weeks time.

On my return home I found DD3 and the boys waiting for me which was a lovely surprise and I got my fill of cuddles. DGS1 is a very happy boy as they are learning about dinosaurs at school! His obsession!

Glad you had a good break Pantglas and that Dad was ok in your absence. I’m with you on mint tea, or any flavoured tea come to that.🤢

Thank you to all for your lovely comments on DD2’s creations. I will pass them on to her when I speak to her.

Today I’ve got my nails but hope to go and clean my car first and pop to Lidl for some bits.

Wishing you all a good day ☀️

Good morning from Sheffield

I am afraid my little car is no more
My old micro failed its mot. It was going to cost £1500 to get through the test . We decided it was too much.
The car is 28 years old. My mum bought it when it was a year old after my father had passed away. She stopped driving when she was 84 and gave the car to me.
It has been in my family for so long. I was quite emotional when I said goodbye. I shan’t get another one. I only did 350miles in it last year.
We can manage with one car now

Take care everyone flowers

grandMattie Tue 24-Feb-26 06:08:13

What’s the theme for your nails this time, bellasnan? Send a photo

Grandmabatty Tue 24-Feb-26 06:12:05

Good morning all from Polmont where its currently 9° and damp. Pantglas I'm glad you had a relaxing break. GrandMattie your latest quilt sounds very colourful! A deliberate change from the previous monochrome?
Yesterday went well. The boys were duly dropped off then I came home for a nap and tidied up. I returned to the school library in the afternoon and worked away at tidying shelves and processing new books. The boys played nicely at my house until dd picked up dgs2 when he behaved really badly. It was very disappointing. Dd said he behaves like that a lot for them which is worrying. Anyway, I had a rubbish dinner from the freezer so will have to do better tonight.
Today I've woken up with a sore throat to add to the cold symptoms. It's certainly lasting. I have already checked for covid and its definitely not that at least. I'll pick up the boys in a bit for breakfast at my house then deposit them at school. After that, the day is mine until pick up time. It'll be a quiet one I think. Have a good day all

Good morning from s somerset, three cheers, apparently no rain today

I need to check the fruit tree and bush pruning today and to clear the soil around them and to get some special fertilizer down

Blimey I had a near miss with boiling water just now, large china Dunoon mug. Poured the water in and instantly there was a loud bang and a vertical crack opened and then shut, I was by the sink and quickly poured what was left out, the crack completely disappeared, not even a hairline crack left. I was very grateful to have been wearing my wool dressing gown. I have binned the mug

I loved those mugs, until now, they were expensive, I even replaced two that I had dropped over the years. Now I will only ever fill them with boiling water while they are at the back of my draining board. It was a weird moment

I am having my breakfast and will quickly sort my washing, it is potentially a good drying day

Have a good day

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire.

I was pleased to hear from my optometrist that my eyes are in good health although my vision has worsened a bit as I suspected. New specs and contacts ordered so I shouldn’t be squinting at the television for much longer.

DH received a letter telling him that his knee replacement surgery has been postponed yet again. It’s so disappointing, the date given is April 1st which really doesn’t work for us for various reasons. He has phoned the scheduler so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

Charity shop today, I think I’m on my own on the shop floor again, volunteers are dropping like flies with this horrible cold which seems to be doing the rounds.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning from a still dark but dry NE.
Yesterday was spent washing and ironing. All finished by 5.30 so watched the final of Traitors and a documentary about AI before dinner.
No plans for today so maybe do some housework and then some reading, books have been neglected for a while.
Thinking of FGT.

Grandmabatty Tue 24-Feb-26 06:33:50

baubles that's incredibly annoying for your dh! I can testify about the horrible cold. It's a bummer

Greyduster Tue 24-Feb-26 06:33:57

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire but the forecast is for a dry day so I have laundry in the machine.

Yesterday I went to the gym early and then to the garden centre where I bought, amongst other things, orchid compost. I only have one orchid - given to me by a neighbour just after DH died nearly four years ago. My record with orchids is not good, but this one seems to thrive on my benign neglect (treat ‘em mean, keep ‘em keen) so I decided it was time to give it a treat. We’ll see what comes of it.

Back at school after half term this afternoon and hopefully I will walk there and back.

Pant when I read your posts I always hear the voice of my lovely Welsh sister in law. It makes me smile😊!

Melanie sorry to hear about your car - we do invest a lot of ourselves in them don’t we. When we had to scrap our first car many years ago because it practically fell apart, I cried buckets.

Have the best day you can, folks.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 24-Feb-26 06:35:09

Good morning, no idea what the weather is like as I am in bed being quiet waiting for The Imp to wake up.

I have a few jobs to do that I have been putting off for a while.

Thinking of our friends with troubles and ills.

(((Hugs))) for a very special lady 🙋‍♀️

madeleine45 Tue 24-Feb-26 06:35:36

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark and chilly morning but dry as far as I can tell, in North Yorkshire. Have had a bit better night and am full of ideas of what I can manage to do today but we shall see.

Yesterday I did manage to do a few things that have been annoying me. Got rid of various things, and had a huge bag of recycling stuff which I put out for this morning as it is bin day. It was at least cheering to see something showing that I have made a difference even if it was still not very visible in general in the room. I also collected up a bag of toys and books that I think my grandson is past using and another bag of all sorts of bits and pieces that I had collected for Keira.

She is a very gifted crafts person and besides doing her own things she also runs various craft workshops at Upfront, and as an exteacher I am always putting aside small containers etc that I dont want to throw into the bin to end up in landfill. When she is teaching these things are very useful to allow newbies to try out something , whether it is candle making or card making or whatever. Her classes are always very popular and are free, and so there are a range of people from a group of refugees, who improve their language skills whilst making something to a group from Mind where the important thing is to encourage people to come out, and feel safe and comfortable to do something from choice and no pressure etc. So I got quite a bit removed from the flat and also did some washing, which fingers crossed might get hung outside today. Added to that I managed to sort out the timing on the radiator that had been coming on at the wrong time and yet whatever I did still seemed to go wrong. So not exciting but really cheering day and feeling I am catching up a bit.

Today I have a possible appointment to see the techi man to sort out a few problems on my laptop, and to apologise yet again for not turning up last week. He has an appointment with someone for 12 who they are not sure will be coming, so I am on "standby" to fill the gap.

I have seen that this next sunday March 1st, Helmsley walled garden is open for the first day of the season and is free for that day, so depending on the weather I might get to see that, and have passed the information on to the womens group, so there are one or two keen gardeners who might like to go. My little garden could do with a lot of weeding and have plants I want to put in, but despite improving in general dont think I quite dare to get down to the borders myself yet .Anyway cheering to think of gardens and I have crocus out and just the beginnings of my groups of miniature daffodils coming through to cheer the day. My blue hyacinths have finished flowering so have cut the flowers off and put the pot outside near the wall to get aclimatised before I plant them out in the garden. My white ones are still going strong and I love their perfume to cheer the morning.

So a better start to my day, and if the weather stays dry I might even get the car sorted out. The inside is a disgrace and could do with a good clean up and tidy, and a check up on the picnic box, to have it ready for whenever I go anywhere. I always keep the windows clean etc but do tend to have maps and stuff on the seats. Partly it is the annoying fact that they now make the side pockets smaller and my map does not fit in easily as it used to. Whilst I do have satnav and know much of where I am going to, I still like to have a map in the car with me, and when I decide to do something different to original plan or when there is problems such as accidents on the main road , like to look and see which would be the best alternative. Hopefully March will bring better weather and allow me to get out and about and go up Swaledale and to the coast. Definitely in need of some freedom after being cooped up here for so long.

I do hope your injection helps your breathing Mick and you have a good trip in to Bicester today. I shall watch out for Conclave GrandMattie . I was ill when it came round here earlier on. Hope you have a successful shopping trip. Glad you had a good holiday Pantglas and are back renewed ready to see your dad.

Wishing everyone a productive and happy day today

Susan56 Tue 24-Feb-26 06:58:21

Good morning from ShropshireDark and dry at the moment.

I got my medication sorted yesterday.Thankfully the GP agreed that I should not change anything.A big relief 😅

Today DD1 and I are going to do a final clean of mum’s house. Her neighbour has been amazing and has said he will keep an eye on the house until the sale goes through. It is all very emotional and I pray the sale happens 🙏🏻

I hope Marydoll’s DIL is home and that Gingster’s DD is improving 🙏🏻

Thoughts with FGT.

Wishing everyone a good day 🦩🌻

Good morning to you all.

School pickup yesterday went well. Both ate their (different) meals and not so many spats occurred.

Will go to the large Waitrose about half an hour away this morning as we only have Ocado fortnightly. A new Lidl opened about a mile away from us last week but not been in yet.

Bella I’m in awe again, at your DD2’s wonderful cake and biscuits. Such patience! I hope your GD had a wonderful 15th birthday.

I’m pleased you feel revived after your break Pantglas. We went to Sharm-el-Sheik about 10 years ago for some late Autumn sun. I was not expecting the hotel to have such good food, some of the best I’ve had anywhere. Meals were cooked to order in front of you by an array of chefs. Every single employee in the hotel were male, including all the cleaning staff.

I hope your DinL is back home now MD. Thinking of FGT. I feel so sad for her.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Grammaretto Tue 24-Feb-26 06:59:56

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Still dark but not cold at all.

It will be a phase Grandmabatty I shouldn't worry yet.

I'm glad you enjoyed your break Pantglas I agree that we feel we know the FGTs and are mourning with her.

One of my past helpers is back in the area so is coming to see me this morning and will help with some more decluttering. Heavy books have taken ownership of the hall.

I am arranging a second viewing of a doer-upper house in a good location. This time my architect friend and contractor are coming too.

Gaelic class tonight so I've homework to do.

Conclave is an excellent film gMattie. Look out for I Swear too.

I hope those with struggles have a better day and that the sun shines.

Redcar Tue 24-Feb-26 07:14:18

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cloudy and mild out and it looks damp. Who knows what the weather will do, but no doubt some rain will be involved. I managed a bit more weeding yesterday, but it’s slow progress. I did the ironing and washed the wheels of the rollator as they were very muddy.
I have an opticians appointment this morning and then intend to visit a few shops. I’ll visit my dementia friend later.

pantglas I’m glad you had a restful break and are ready for the challenges presented by your Dad!

baubles disappointing that your DH’s operation has been postponed again. I hope he can get another date soon, hopefully the problem with the necessary cement is resolved quickly.

karma a lucky escape for you from the boiling water.

Thinking of all those who are struggling with life’s problems at the moment and hoping for an improvement soon.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Ashcombe Tue 24-Feb-26 07:14:50

Good morning from a dull but dry Torbay. It was mild overnight, so I was a little bit too warm in bed and haven’t slept as well as sometimes which is why I’m later posting today.

I’m glad your holiday went well, Pantglas and I hope you find your Dad in good spirits.

Yesterday, my Move It Or Lose It class resumed after our teacher had been on holiday for a week. Prior to retirement, she had a career on stage as a dancer, comedian and magician, being one the few female members of The Magic Circle. Her classes are great fun as she is very supportive and encouraging besides keeping us entertained between dance routines with various jokes and anecdotes.

It must be a wrench to have to say goodbye to your car, Melanie61 after it has served you well for so long. I expect you have many memories of adventures with it.

A weird experience with the mug, karmalady!

Frustrating news for your husband, baubles. I hope he soon has a new date for surgery.

Wishing everyone as good a day as possible. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

ginny Tue 24-Feb-26 07:25:43

Good morning everyone . I have no idea what the weather is doing.
DH wants to go and look at lawnmowers this morning as ours has expired and also shoes. I doubt I’ll go with him , over an hour spent sitting in the car and no interest in the subjects.
I think I’ll do a few house jobs, make a chocolate orange cake and then some sewing. WI are making drawstring bags for a charity and I have a block to finish for sewing club by Thursday.
Choir this evening hopefully if all the people who had colds and gastric upsets last week can attend this week.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

luluaugust Tue 24-Feb-26 07:26:56

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Off to a local town this morning to try and sort out a banking problem face to face. We no longer have a branch here. DGS3 is coming to stay as he has a complicated journey to work whilst his parents are away. Looking forward to catching up on all his news
Pantglas glad you had a good break
Very scary with the mug karmalafy
Poor old car Melanie
Best wishes

Gagagran Tue 24-Feb-26 07:29:43

Good Morning all from the south coast where we are promised a warmer day with the chance of some sunshine. Fingers are crossed.

I expected a long wait to get an Easter delivery slot from Tesco this morning, but was straight in so I was pleased not to have been waiting for it to open for bookings at 6am. The same system at Christmas resulted in a huge waiting list to get a slot. Not so today.

Our tete a tete daffodils are now in full bloom and look so cheerful and happy. We have a pair of courting wood pigeons who seem to like to visit the roof of a neighbouring house and show us their contortions. Spring has most definitely arrived!

Kind thoughts to all struggling with worries, pain or sorrow. Especially today, FGT who must be feeling numb and so sad. May the day bring some ease and calmness for us all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 24-Feb-26 07:31:25

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

My morning routine at the moment is shower, dry hair, breakfast, take antibiotic, stick left foot in a bowl of hot salty water. Sadly, the toe doesn’t seem to be improving. Walking to my diabetes prevention talk yesterday was uncomfortable. I havr three more tablets to take. Unless there is a rapid change I will be looking for a podiatrist. I am seeing friends this afternoon (I will drive door to door) and will ask one of them who their podiatrist is - I know she visits one.

OH has definitely got my cold and cough. He’s asthmatic so will suffer more than me.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset. Sun in the forecast. 🤞

Another quiet one for me yesterday. The plumber came and went, assuring us the shower was sorted and in the afternoon no less than two people descended to give our ovens a professional spring clean - they weren’t that dirty to need two! Mr C used to do it a couple of times a year, a free standing cooker means getting on the floor which isn’t such a good idea for him now.

We’re in full cleaning mode. Dust removal this morning and this afternoon the car will be valeted inside and out.

Our first born has a birthday today, 51, no idea how that happened. A message has been sent and we’ll speak this evening. Seeing him on Saturday, he’s over 4 hours away in the week.

Goodness karma, how odd and potentially dangerous. Welcome home pantglas. You must both be beyond disappointed baubles. 🤞 for the next date.

Best wishes to all.

Marzipan22 Tue 24-Feb-26 07:35:47

Good morning from a brightening, drizzly Cornwall. Yesterday I took two buses to Porthleven on the south coast simply to buy organic oats in bulk at their lovely village store. The sea was brooding and a deep teal, amazing, but this photo can't show that, unfortunately. The first bus home was delayed so I headed west instead and ended up in Penzance. Plodded (backpack full of oats) up the hill to the library, which houses the county collection of art books but didn't stay long as I don't like the atmosphere there. (Splendid loos in the building though, plus showers. 😁) Caught a train halfway home and finally another bus.

Today it's the dentist to see if she can help with my stuck jaw, then silversmithing this evening. We're making domes this time.

gM I bought Conclave after watching it at the cinema. Lovely film. The book is good too.
