I didn't know about the rape, I thought the mother was a girlfriend, but yes I read how she found out at 14 when doing a school project. How awful for her.
I think where and how his remains are dealt with should remain secret.
It's highly likely that if it's a burial, the grave will be unmarked to avoid any 'morbid visitors'. His house, the scene of this awful crime was torn down as is usually the case.
Anthony Russell should be given a royal pardon for services to humanity. The slaying of a monster was an act of heroism in British folklore. The man is a hero and we should all thank him for his selfless act.

I presume you are joking or are some kind of troll? He raped and killed a 5 month pregnant woman and 2 other people.

You have to be joking, surely? He wasn't behind bars because he didn't pay his TV licence or parking fines - the man is another convicted murderer and rapist who committed heinous offences. He's no 'hero' - not by anyone's standards.
smg305, your post is truly disgusting for the reasons already stated by Desdemons and ViceVersa.
Imagine being prison officers responsible for the rapist murderer. Heās already killed two people. Heās nothing to lose by attacking or killing again.

No Allira you are wrong. A paupers funeral is never in a shared grave, whatever gave you that idea. They bodies are always cremated when paid for by the city unless the family offer to pay and arrange and pay for a funeral. Yes it does happen.sometimes.
Are you in the UK, because a quick google confirms
Whatās a pauperās grave?
The term pauperās grave means that people who are buried in this kind of plot do not have the āexclusive right of burialā ā a phrase that defines someoneās rights over a private grave.
Someone may be buried in a common grave which already contains someone elseās coffin, or the plot may be reopened for a further burial at a later date.
Like Allira I don't think anyone should have to share a grave with Huntley, known or not.
He should rot in hell. The person who killed him is an evil piece of work and should never be released or he will kill again. I pity the prison officers for having to deal with such people.
I was watching Jeremy Vine today and Ann Widecombe was on the lonely. She said he has done something alful, but everyone deserves a funeral as it is only decent. I don't agree with every thing Ann Widdecombe says but I agree with her here.
The person who murdered him was a piece of s... too. Beast though Huntley is he should not have been killed in prison. I say this as someone who has no sympathy for him.
Panel not lonely.
everyone deserves a funeral as it is only decent.
So would Ann Widdecombe like to make sure that everyone, including HM Service veterans, have a decent funeral, not a pauper's funeral?
Allilra she said funeral she did not say what type.
I am not getting into HM service veterans as this was not discussed.
Huntley is dead now killed in prison by another scum bag. I will shed no tears, but surely we can have compassion for his Mother and a prayer and a funeral might bring her some comfort.
Why is it being assumed that no one will arrange his funeral? Myra Hindley had one.
I don't really care whether or not you wish to discuss that rafichagran.
I was just making the point.
Ian Brady was cremated and his ashes buried at sea. That way, thereās nowhere that can become a focal point, which seems a good idea.

What point it had nothing to do with what was being discussed, I dont know why it was bought up.
Of course HM service veterans should have a funeral.

I agree, this could be an idea.

I can assure you that I know exactly what I am talking about.
Your city, wherever it may be, may do things differently of course.
Maybe there is confusion over "shared/common graves"?
I understood that "common" graves were simply dug deeper initially so people needing a burial but with no assets or family could still have a respectful burial. It's not like a grave with dozens of bodies all lined up.
The graves may have from 3 to up to 6 people in them - vertically - just like a "private" grave - but in this case they wouldn't know each other.
Given that graves are often leased these days - sometimes from as little as 25 years, it's not so terrible. In my area I was told that grave markers are allowed/used with the names of the deceased.
My mother-in-law chose a burial plot with a 50 years lease. She said, "once I'm gone, 50 years is quite long enough".
That said. I think the general public really shouldn't know where the remains of the man we are discussing on this thread, are finally put.
I don't know about cremations by the way.
Maybe it depends on space?
OK. I have just looked this up and found this on the "funeral guide" website.
Public health funerals are usually conducted at crematoria, unless the authorities are aware the person had religious beliefs which deem burial an important rite, or the person had expressed a written wish to be buried.
Most local authorities will include a short committal ceremony for the person who has died, in the chapel or at the graveside. A council representative will attend the funeral, if no other mourners are expected to attend.
In some local areas, it is possible for families to arrange for a religious minister or civil celebrant to be present at the funeral, but they will be asked to take responsibility for this themselves.
Years ago I knew someone from my council who arranged burials.
I guess cremation is more popular now for everyone - (and cheaper for councils).
