Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in Brackley , but with a slight chill with all the Sahara dust making it feel colder than it is .
The usual bus journey into Bicester, meet and chat to those I know .
Health wise OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a lighter but grey and still morning home in North Yorkshire. I drove back yesterday starting with headlights and fog lights for some time, and then that rather more annoying bit where you go through patches of thick mist or fog and then out to sunshine, so it was lights on lights off, sunglasses on sunglasses off! There was nothing like that when I got home. I felt very weary but pleased with my trip, and arrived home, and began to unpack all the bits and pieces. Had some bread and there was food in the freezer, but all of a sudden I thought, no blow it I will go and have sunday lunch at a nearby pub. They are like a home cooked place and do a couple of different meats etc.

The thought of having to first go to Tesco or wherever and then shop and come back probably feeling past it decided me to see a) If I could park b) If there was a space for me as they are usually pretty booked out and I know that lots of families who come to see grannies regularly book there so that the family can enjoy a good meal together without the granny having to do a main meal for everyone and c) If they had something I wanted to eat.
Well for once I did well as it was just before 12 noon, so space in the car park, hardly anyone arrived yet and hurrah they were doing roast beef. Doesnt matter how long you have been cooking and know what you are doing, I think beef is so much better when cooked in a larger piece as they do there and I thoroughly enjoyed my roast beef and a lovely yorkshire pudding - home made too , with good veg and lovely horseradish that bites back and even went mad and had a small glass of merlot to go with it. An extravagance but very worthwhile as I really enjoyed it , with very few people arrived , so was able to go home with no washing up and got some milk on the way home and that gave me the energy to unload the car and begin to get sorted here.

Once everything was put back where it belonged I didnt attempt to do much more than check on emails and post etc and in the evening was happy to watch the last of Call the Midwife for some time I gather. Just what I felt like watching, didnt need a lot of thought but all very well done especially by Judy Parfitt as Sister Monica Joan. There are certain actors who, if I see their name in the cast I would most likely watch as they are always in good plays so people like Judy Dench and Micheal Gambon and Billy Connolly and Stephanie Cole, would get me marking it as something worth watching. Do any of you remember the Dennis Potter Blue remembered hills or the Singing Dectective from years ago?

Today is going to be a "sorta" day . There are plenty of things I need to do including checking some insurance dates and getting some basic shopping in. I dont think I have any appointments but need to check on the calendar and see if I need to put in a prescription, so a very local day. Not moving very well yet but never mind, it was worth the trip and I hope to feel less creaky later on.

Lovely to see a few more daffodils out - I have put groups of miniature daffodils in my borders and they are cheering the borders up but there are plants still sat in pots waiting to be planted and of course the wretched weeds are growing higher than most stuff and annoyingly right in amongst my plants. When I can do them myself I take the time and trouble to carefully go through the lavender or whatever to get to the root of the weed and gently get it out so that the plant is not harmed or roots broken, but if I have to get someone else to do it cant say they will do it to my standard!! Anyway it is quite nice to have no set plans for the day and take it easy.

Hope you have a good trip in to Bicester Mick. Frustrating when the one thing you have asked for help with doesnt get done isnt it? I am totally with you Grandmabatty, as it is bad enough to have to ask for help anyway, and then to see it not done you are frustrated by not being able to flounce out and do it yourself as "the little red hen" used to say. To be reminded that you cant do something easily any more adds to the annoyance factor I think!GrandMattie hope you can drop off for a little more sleep and wake up feeling a bit better. Karmalady fingers crossed for good news on your boiler today. Baubles do hope all goes well for your husband at the hospital today.

Well no sign of any sunshine, no squirrel rushing by but a lone pigeon wandering round under the tree pecking at I dont know what. In fact think that the mist is getting more not less, so at least a morning of domesticity looks likely as not lured away from jobs by a wish to get outside.

Hope to day brightens for us all, and we can manage to tick one or two jobs off the never ending lists!

Good morning all and it’s foggy here in Essex.

We had a very successful weekend at our seaside cottage with sons 1 and 2. Lots of clearing out of outhouses and trips to the tip with both cars.

I cleaned the cottage as it looked tired and mucky with dead insects and cobwebs and dust . We hadn’t been there for two months. Soon had it looking fresh and clean.

Still lots to do, but no rush.

We had mist and damp all day yesterday but the journey home was good.

Today I’ll go to Chimes. Only 5 of us today as one has Shingles, one is away and another has a hospital appointment. We will have to concentrate and not giggle too much.

I will attempt to phone the hospital with regards to DH’s urgent appointment. I don’t hold out much hope.

I must go to the bank and do a transfer . We still don’t do online banking. Dh dead against it and he was a Banker. I’m assured things have moved on and are very safe now.

Wishing you all a good day.🌱

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a dry bright start to the day
Fingers crossed today for the new boiler Karma, hope you warm up soon
Hope all goes well today Ash
Oh my goodness dragonfly, I hope you’re ok without any major damage, how awful
We did quite a bit of gardening over the weekend so today I think we’ll go for a walk and then call into the garden centre to get a few new things. A rest this afternoon and then I’m off out this evening at a line dancing class.
Sorry to hear about your painful feet grandmabatty
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a misty damp looking Suffolk. Nothing I have to do today so,apart from walking the little dog after breakfast, I may try to finish sorting out a pile of clothes I haven’t worn for ages and probably assigning most of them into the bag for the local charity shop.

Yesterday I booked tickets for an outing one of my friends had done with her daughter and said was brilliant. It is organised by a social enterprise company in Norwich and is an underground tour of a part of the medieval city close to the castle. It is late this month and I’m going with a friend who lives on the north Norfolk coast and Norwich is a good half way point for us to get together.

They also do a tour of Carrow House, the former home of the Colman family( of mustard fame). There are only a few of those tours and I’ll look for tickets in the summer.

I hope today is a good one for all especially those who are unwell or with worries.

Good Morning

Grey, but dry and not too cold, in my part of Essex.

Have a good week, one & all flowers

Good morning everyone from the east coast and it’s a grim, grey morning.

We had a nice day yesterday with shopping and a lovely lunch.
DS in China called to tell us while we are there DDILs brother is getting married. It’s in DILs home town so we will be going. I’m quite excited about it. When DS and DIL got married the wedding had lots of western influences but I’m looking forward to seeing a full Chinese wedding. It’s a four hour train ride from DSs city and not a tourist town at all so we attract a lot of attention there being foreigners. DH isn’t keen on going.

Today is DGDs 4th birthday. All our gifts are Barbie themed and we’ll take them over when we go a look after them tonight. DH is making chocolate pancakes for dessert after their dinner. She’s having a special day with her mummy while GD1 is at school.

At lunchtime I’m taking mum and little dog to the vets so she can have the dressing changed on her paw then I’ll go for GS from school. I need to put a curry in the slow cooker this morning with having such a busy day.

Wishing everyone a lovely day with moments of joy🌼
Thoughts to those struggling with illness and stress💐

Good morning Mick and everyone from rainy Carlisle.
I'm a bit behind this morning after a restless night and weird dreams.
I had quite a busy weekend, I took my rotting, dismantled garden bench to the recycling centre on Saturday after nipping to Sainsbury's for a few oddments but mostly to refuel the car.
Yesterday I gave the interior of the car a good clean, lots of wood chips to clear up.
I've also been planting out in the garden and sitting out in it with my afternoon coffees. After a few warm, sunny days, that's all over for a bit by the sound of it.

Today, the usual round of vacuuming and bed changing plus some necessary boring admin to do. This is an expensive time of year for me starting with the house insurance which is up for renewal shortly followed by the boiler's annual check, followed by the car insurance!

The good news on the pill front is that the GP, new to me, is starting a steroid reduction program so I'm hoping that works without flaring up my condition.

Wishing you all a good day if possible.

Good morning from a brightening northwest coast. I just had a restive day yesterday after my gallivanting the day before. I’m enjoying finding plays etc. on Classic British Telly on YouTube (rather like Karma) and have started South Riding from ‘74 and watched a Noel Coward play from the same era. Can’t be bothered carrying on with Bridgerton and the like…

Will practise some songs for the music club tomorrow and get on with some housework.
Thoughts to all🌺

hollysteers Mon 09-Mar-26 08:29:11

Restful not restive 🙄

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 6°C
A very restless night, DH eays I was calling out in pain.

Yesterday was a reasonably quiet day, I was hoping to run up to DD's, but my diverticulitis put paid to that
I sat sewing a dress by hand, which I had cut and altered. It was stretchy material and my machine is acting up, so hand sewing was easier,

DH did put down the new dining room rug, but it involved moving out the furniture. It was an opportunity to give it a proper clean, including all the chairs and floor
I am really pleased with the result.

We were shocked to read about the fire next to Central station.
DS1 and DD will need to drive to work leaving their cars at a Subway station and DS2 and Family are returning from Edinburgh today but there are no trains from Central Station.
DH is stressing already, about driving in town.
I will need to do the school run, if DH has to go to Glasgow.

This morning, I need to phone the candle suppliers, there were discrepancies in the order and yesterday I need to investigate.
Originally, I ordered 600 palms, but the P.P has changed his mind a number of times over the weekend, about ordering more and how many. Our congregation is swelling.
He is hard work!

I hope all the hospital appointments go well. Ash, I was surprised to be in and out in ten minutes, after my recent echogram.

Before deciding if I go out today, my pain levels will need to die down a bit .

I wish you all a lovely day, whatever your plans.

Greyduster Mon 09-Mar-26 08:35:21

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Grey but mild here in South Yorkshire, and I woke up late, having had something of a broken night.

I went down to our local garden centre yesterday morning to buy plant food and bird food and had a bacon sandwich which I ate in the car as their cafe is basically a very large tent and it was a bit cool to be sitting out. The sandwich was generous and tasty but now my car smells of bacon! I suppose there are worse things it could smell of!

While I was out I missed a message from DD asking if they could pop in and when I got home they were on the doorstep! We had coffee and then went out for a local walk before they left. DS phoned in the evening to say he will be down to take me out to lunch on Saturday.

I have nothing planned today except to sort out the bird feeders and go over to the gym at some point. I had a text from the surgery this morning so will have to call in there at some point.

Have the best day you can folks.

Hope the appointments go well Ash and Mr baubles and thoughts to all with health concerns.

I’m sure you will be fine today Jax back on the phones.Another step towards normality 💪

Good morning from Sheffield

Another night of little sleep, GrandMattie I am with you on the exhaustion front

We had a successful weekend with the grandchildren . They had a good time and it was nice to see them

DH has taken up Pickleball so we had a trip to a shopping outlet to find him some shorts and top and shoes to wear.

I don’t think I’ll be joining in with his hobby.
Yoga is just about as energetic as I can manage

I have prayer group this morning , working this afternoon.
Take care everyoneflowers

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 09-Mar-26 08:51:52

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it's dry and will be 11°c

I’m going over to see my stepfather mid morning take him some shopping from my larder. Owing to circumstances I e had to neglect him somewhat these past few months. Two sets of neighbours over the road from him have done a sterling job getting in his groceries twice every week ~ such kindness.

Our youngest daughter had offered to get his shopping put into her weekly Teaco delivery but this was never needed, thanks to his splendid neighbours.

Such kindness much appreciated by our little family x

grandMattie Mon 09-Mar-26 09:04:37

People’s kindness is always so very touching ,isn’t it fgt. And you find out who your true friends are!
“You’ve friends for a reason, for a season or for life” is never truer in your circs. Abrazos

Morning all from a grey but mild West Oxfordshire.

A good day yesterday. Church with just six in the congregation. OH and I had a tromp around our fairly local bluebell woods. They aren’t flowering yet but here’s a photo I took yesterday of the beginning of them!

Cleaner is here this morning and I’ll do a Waitrose shop. After lunch I’ll pop over to my neighbour who hosts a monthly craft group.

Have a good day.

harrigran Mon 09-Mar-26 09:13:04

Good morning from a grey NE but with a temperature of 8°.
Yesterday was a lazy day, I did go into the garden to get some fresh air but the wind was very chilling.
DD rang during the afternoon and we chatted for more than an hour. I asked if she had heard any more about the police presence on Friday night, nothing in the news but she said that a wagon turned up at 7am and took away all the broken furniture and swept up all the broken glass. Glaziers were there too replacing the windows.
Have a good day.

Redcar Mon 09-Mar-26 09:13:47

dragonfly I hope you can get a doctors appointment today, and that you are only bruised. Hard floors are very unforgiving aren’t they.

grandMattie Mon 09-Mar-26 09:14:28

Ooh, llfo, this has made me rather sad 😔 that I left east Kent. We had a few gorgeous bluebell wood near us, the best being “Hanging Woods” a 10 minute walk from our house.
I know nowhere here and I don’t have transport to out of the way places.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 09-Mar-26 09:20:07

I took this last year GM.

Annapops Mon 09-Mar-26 09:28:55

Good morning from a very misty Durham.

Fitness class this morning then I must take a package to PO, another Lego sale.
I have a few more items to sell on so will attempt to organise today.

School pickup later, just one DGD today as GS stays behind for his SATS booster class.

Thinking it will be bolonaise for dinner today. Lots of cheese on top, the way GD likes it.

Wishing all the best day.

Grandmabatty Mon 09-Mar-26 09:41:46

dragonfly I hope you aren't too badly bruised

aggie Mon 09-Mar-26 09:45:26

Good Morning from a bright dry Co Armagh,
Out to get groceries this am
Yesterday was footering about in the greenhouse , but it’s too cold to do proper gardening
A large pelargonium seems to have survived in the greenhouse , I’ve gingerly pulled off any crispy bits and gingerly watered it by adding rainwater to the saucer underneath it , so fingers crossed I’ll get some cuttings , if not the whole plant
It is very cold daytime and even colder nights
Thinking of the poorly ,the sad , and the falling from chairs ! 💐

WhiteSwan63 Mon 09-Mar-26 09:52:16

Dragonfly I’ve just caught up on other posts and saw you had a fall. No wonder you are in agony. Hope you get to the Drs 💐

GrandmaC47 Mon 09-Mar-26 10:47:10

Morning from dull Co Durham.
No plans for today.
Have a good day everyone.
