A huge march against the Far Right

(526 Posts)

Yesterday we had a massive march believed to be 500.000 people in London against the Far Right and not a word on here, vey little on the news and way way down towards the bottom on the BBC news page
I ve put this in chat as I m not looking for hard politics or arguments but I m proud of the people marching against the rise of the far right, against the division and hatred that is currently being spewed out by Farage and friends
Well done London and all the people who travelled to give out a message of togetherness, of kindness, of inclusion.

I would expect no less from you DAR.

Comments can be made to seem very different from how they are intended.

Your post is a case in point of leftie aggression, I am sad to say. (Mon 30-Mar-26 11:19:22)

Those are not my words Meandrogrog (Also, I do not sit on the left politically - it's always worth making sure your insults are founded on the truth).

I simply asked AI to analyse the tone of each post. Anyone can do it. It may be worth you doing it before you post. I often do - simply because it is so easy for others to take offence when none us given.

That's intriguing Daisy. Our posts may be independently analysed for bias and tone?

Quite different then from the article in the Daily Mail I was reading. I am sure the woman who wrote the article was not lying!

You asked me to comment, which I did politely and with honesty. So please don't compare me to the Daily Mail. Thanks

Why are lefties so aggressive?

Please expand on this theory and draw my attention to any rudeness?

Much obliged.

I wish Id been there! Been laid up with medical problems beyond my control but so happy to see so many good people out there!😍

Yes, Marmia. If you put your own post in you can ask it to give you a version that says what you want to say but in the tone you want to use.

Of course the people can be offended simply by the truth if they don't agree with you.

Do you use AI at all at the moment for anything? It's a usefull tool.

So very grateful to all those who were on this demo in London. Gave me back some hope for the future. Would have loved to have been able to be with them - I did my share back when I was younger!!!!
Yes ,it was all peaceful and have heard personally from several of those who were on it, what a great united feeling it gave them all.
The flags are totally unimportant, it is the people who matter!!!!

I 100% agree .. coupled with the amazing turnout for the No Kings Marches (7.5 million estimated) 🥰🤩

Then use it for your own posts DAR but don’t be repeating other posters comments along with an AI interpretation of their ‘tone’.

Couldn’t help but wonder where were the Union Flags and St George’s Cross flags?? Was this really the future of the UK? Iranian and Palestinian flags but not our own plus of course a video from Elon Musk. What’s not to like?

'Traditionally' Brits were secure enough in their identity and history as a mongrel nation to mock the insecure Americans for their flag veneration. We were actually taught this at school - the explanation given was that the USA was a very young nation (obviously no one counted the thousands of years of indigenous occupation!) and that they would get less sensitive about bits of cloth when they had more history.

MSM managed to ignore both the anti far right march in London and the many No Kings marches in the US, where numbers totalled about 8 million.

Oreo Mon 30-Mar-26 14:53:06

The French go in for flag flying and they are a very old nation. As do many other countries.

Moii Mon 30-Mar-26 14:53:29

I've seen it on multiple news stations. A lot were flying the brutal Iranian regime flag which is confusing, how can anyone supporting human rights back that. Strange times.

ronib Mon 30-Mar-26 14:54:53

What’s a mongrel nation? I know British people love dogs ….. ??Seakay

I'm always puzzled by what this 'Far Right' is, that all these high-minded virtue-signallers are marching against, and I'm thinking that if I'd actually suffered under a real far right government, such as Nazi Germany, I might feel that what I went through was not appreciated. And before anyone says that today's 'right' is the thin end of the wedge, what happened to personal choice and a variety of viewpoints?

Was it the brutal Iranian flag or just ‘the national Iranian flag’ being flown by Iranians over here showing solidarity with Iranians presently being bombed.
There is a huge difference.

Traditionally, when we were at school, the flag was seen as a symbol of national pride. We all flew flags for the Coronation.
They had wooden poles and were made of cotton.

I do not ever remember mocking the Americans for flying their flag, although perhaps some did.

ArthurAskey Mon 30-Mar-26 15:05:14

Nonsense. Independent estimate no more than 50k. The “far right” as you call them are the majority of decent people in the country who want to see the back of this two tier govt.

Donnaree Mon 30-Mar-26 15:07:01

There are so many rallies etc going on country wide which are never reported on on national TV. Makes you wonder who's actually in charge of what we see?

Moii Mon 30-Mar-26 15:08:14

The islamists version with Arabic writing supporting the regime not the original flag with the Lion and sun.

monami Mon 30-Mar-26 15:16:11

and what exactly is far right, is it hard working normal people who pay their taxes and are sick and fed up of their treatment from the far far left who are ruining this country, if you feel so strongly you can always home an immigrant

Iam64 Mon 30-Mar-26 15:18:49

Anyone who believes the far left is running the country is simply wrong.

Great post BlueBelle ! Power to the people.

I quite agree, the BBC gave us a report on tiger woods driving and missed the march!!! thats why they are getting a hard time for not representing the people

Agreed.
Or even the far far left!

Jacksgrandma123 Mon 30-Mar-26 15:27:03

A video has been uploaded showing the March against the ‘Far Right’ ‘ to show unity and citing the Far Right’s policy of hatred and division . It unfortunately shows a particularly virulent argument between a Muslim lady and a LGBT man which resorts in to physical jostling as she says that he is not wanted here!
“ Tempers flared at a large demonstration in central London on Saturday when a Muslim woman told a man draped in a rainbow flag to leave, declaring “we don’t want you here” and that “you disgust us”. Video footage from the Together Alliance event, which has circulated widely on social media, shows the man – who appeared to be taking part in a “Queers for Palestine” contingent – arguing face-to-face with the woman in a pink hijab on a pavement near Whitehall”

A good friend went with her daughter and I am ashamed that I knew nothing about it. My mum marched against the Iraq war when over a million marched. She also marched against Moseley and the black shirts as did my grandad. It looked a joyful, peaceful gathering and numbers don’t matter do they? It is raising awareness that counts.

Allira Mon 30-Mar-26 15:33:53

Has it changed anything?
