Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in Brackley but feels cool .
The usual routine with a bus trip to Bicester to shop and chat to those I know.
Also its a visit to the chippy at lunchtime plan to have a lunch box which is a small piece of fish ,sausage and curry sauce to to dip the chips in.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dry, chilly (again) Bristol.
Birds are chorusing their little hearts out, the blossom is looking gorgeous where the wind hasn’t shredded it all off. Apart from the icy wind, spring has sprung!
Your lunch box sounds delicious, Mick.
DD and DGD are back safely after spending 3 days in Paris.
Yesterday was quiet; I pottered about, then spent a pleasant couple of hours with our”block” residents, having a cuppa and good chin wag. Being much of an age, they were reminiscing about their school days. I couldn’t say much as mine, in my Third World tropical island, was as different as if I had come from Mars!
This morning, im going to the church hall to see if I and another parishioner can sort some sound boards out. Frankly, I think it would look better if we replaced the fabric entirely.
The rest of the day will be spent reading, or making more patchwork hearts…
I hope that everyone has a pleasant Friday. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Malta where another sunny day is forecast with a high of 26°C.

Thank you all so much for your kind birthday wishes for the boys. What a lovely group of friends you are🤗.

The party was very enjoyable, DD3 has some lovely friends and all the little ones had a good time playing.

I got home around 5.45 just in time to see Alcaraz win his match.

Looks like I will miss his match today as I have a hair appointment. What bad planning!😂

I took an antihistamine yesterday morning forgetting thst they make me drowsy, resulting in a wasted morning as I dozed off and woke feeling like a zombie.

I did manage to take an old Kenwood mixer and a broken tv to the civic amenity site before going to the party so that was one job done at least.

Not much on today apart from tennis and hairdo but I will probably go to Lidl at some point. Living it large as usual!😂

Hope you all have a good day ☀️

What a fantastic banner, bellas! Did your DD make it? And it sounds like you all had a lovely day.

Ashcombe Fri 10-Apr-26 06:36:09

Good morning from a rather cloudy and cool Torbay.

I’m glad to hear that the twins had a good celebration, Bellasnana. DH had twin brothers who were younger than him and rather outshone him academically and in sport. Sadly, although I met both of them when DH and I married in 2015, one of them died of a brain tumour a year later.

Today, I’m booked for a test drive in a Ford Puma Vignale which I hope will replace my Fiesta which was sadly written off in a bizarre accident last month. I hope I will like it as much!

Have a good day, whatever befalls. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning I’ve not had a good nights sleep, just could not get my mind to settle.
There was a lot of noise outside around 3 o’clock. Couldn’t see the reason and very unusual here.
We had a really good choir rehearsal last evening apart from one lady who caused quite a bit an incident. Apparently she is often disruptive. I think she will be asked not to come again.

Glad your boys had a lovely day bellasnana. Our youngest was an absolute treasure yesterday, he will be 5 at the end of the month.
Anyway we’ll be getting up now . We will breakfast and pop the last few bits in our cases. We are being picked up in a couple of hours for our cruise.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is very chilly and cloudy. I had two baby robins splashing around in my bird bath yesterday. I knew two adults had paired up but didn’t expect to see youngsters so early. I was delighted. Yesterday’s walk in the woods was lovely - bluebells are coming into flower now and along with wood anemones and celandines they make a very pretty sight.

I had lunch with DD and then went to the hairdressers where I had to wait two hours for my turn in the chair, as she had overbooked two previous clients, one of whom was having a very lengthy treatment. It’s not the first time it has happened. She should have texted me to say come later. If she wasn’t such a superb cutter, I think I would find someone else. I might ask among my neighbours who they use.

Not sure what is happening today. I may go into town on the tram as I could do with a pair of new trainers. And I must put some more fuel in the car☹️£££!

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a grey damp looking but still morning in North Yorkshire. I am divided into two parts today. Mentally I enjoyed some success yesterday and was glad I managed to go as planned to the tulip fields etc., but physically I am pretty much a wreck and in a lot of pain and struggling to even do the least thing, very frustrating. Depressing to think that whatever I accomplish , has to be paid for in a lot of pain.

Yesterday I started by finding the post code of the farm as there are three places called Sessay and I wasnt sure which of them the farm was near. So was able to use my sat nav to pinpoint the best way to go there. Dont use or want to use it much but this sort of thing it is good at. I got a few things put in the car and checked the buggy was all set up if they had places I could use it in. Then I was trying to rush about get jobs done and sent a text to the cleaners etc etc but then the time was going on and it was a timed entry to the tulip fields , so left rather a mess and shot off to pick my friend up.

All this railway work that has been going on, is still not finished and round here there are roads still closed, traffic lights set up etc etc , and so I had allowed plenty of time to travel, but in actual fact we had a clear run and got there early, with no bother. One of the first cars there. It was well thought out, with the nearest car park for disabled only and I was able to take my pick of spaces , and I always try to park to make it easy to get out later, so had just got myself sorted and in a decent space when a chap in yellow jacket arrived to ask if I had a disabled badge, which I was able to show him mine and then put it in the window. So they had notices up and this chap directing traffic, which was well organised . They had a cafe there and we were early and so were happy to go and get a drink and it also allowed me to look at the pathways up to the fields.

Sometimes I improve after an hour or so taking things gently , but ,of course ,not yesterday. I could see that there was no chance to use the buggy on very uneven ground, and we began to walk towards the fields, where there was a little booth to check you in and give information. I was really struggling to even walk there and could see that I was not going to manage even walking to the first bit of where I could see the tulips growing. So felt somewhat disappointed but told Heather that I wanted her to take her time and go off and enjoy them and that I would manage to do what I could and would go back to the car and would be fine sitting there and reading etc. However when we got to the front of the queue and I explained, the lady kindly said that she was sure that if I put my hazards on and drove very slowly I could leave the car park and come along the lane etc etc and drive to much nearer the tulips. That cheered me up and I duly went back to the man in the yellow jacket and explained and we followed instructions to the letter and so I was able to take it very close to one area. The weather was much cooler than the day before and so not so many people around but still a fair few, with quite a lot of I think grandparents bringing children out for a day. I think the small children found it was quite a lovely experience to walk along the rows of different coloured tulips and be surrounded by them.

We had a very slow walk across the tops of the rows and there were some seats as we went. What was quite good was to sit and bend down lowish and then you could look through one colour tulip to another colour. That allowed you to see which colours looked good together etc., You werent allowed to pick any, but could buy some in the shop if you wanted. I gather that this is the first year that the farm has tried this and so it was quite a gamble for them, putting fields aside for tulips, so of course not available for any other crop, and working out how to do it etc. So they have tulips in different areas of early, mid and late varieties to give them a time range to have a show, and there were plenty of well grown and lovely tulips on show, and the lack of rain did mean that you could walk easily on the hard ground, not wading through mud. So I made the best of it and enjoyed it but was ready to get back and sit in the car and rest. We had chosen the right time as the weather had said it would be chilly but dry and then go into rain, and it began to drizzle as we got in the car somewhat chilly and ready to be warmed up.

A careful return up the track with hazards got us back to the car park and I thanked the man on duty and we then left and had an easy run up the A19 to Thirsk where I was able to park close to Cafe Nero where we got a much needed coffee and warmed up. The wonderful Yarnbombers had done their work and there was a whole tower of knitted flowers to enjoy too. I rather seized up after sitting there and then we came home and I had missed the cleaners but they had done a good job. There was plenty I could have got on with but the trip had rather shattered me and I just sat about doing very little for the rest of the day.
I did send a quick email to our womens group and told them what it was like and both the good and difficult things, as the very uneven ground would be a problem for some of our members, but gave them the lowdown to make up their own minds.

So here I am today , pleased with the trip, but any idea of doing more than basic things and some paperwork is out of the window. If we get any sunshine I might manage to take my chair out into the garden and enjoy that, and at some point need to speak to the car people about changing the oil, but at least it is the local paper day and that will give me something to distract me. Have no plans set up for today or the weekend, as it will have to be a matter of seeing what I can manage.

Hope you have a good trip on the bus and see some friends Mick. GrandMattie I am intrigued to know where you lived as a youngster. I have been on GN for a while now but didnt know where you lived previously. Hope you have a restful day and that you get your sound boards sorted.

Well time to listen to Bach to cheer my morning and then I will cheer it even more with a decent coffee and see how the day goes. Wishing everyone a good day

I was born and brought up in Mauritius, madeleine. In the mid-1760s, my family was one of the first French colonists of the uninhabited island.

Melanie61 Fri 10-Apr-26 06:52:50

Good morning from Sheffield

A usual Friday today

Big early clean up, then working. My friend will pop round for coffee around lunchtime then a relaxing afternoon and evening. That will be the total excitement for today.

Oh just a bit of trauma yesterday
My DSinL sister has a dog that has turned aggressive. They have been to various dog classes but the dog is still snapping.
My 6 year old DGS walked past the dog and it turned on him , gripped his forearm and shook it!
Very fortunately the damage was small, although he had teethmarks and grazing. My DSinL was furious and his sister and mum were crying, all that.
To say I was angry is an understatement, I don’t anger easily.
This dog , as sad as it may be must be destroyed. I can’t see any other way. It has bitten all the adults in their family . I haven’t had chance to talk to my DD yet, she wasn’t there.
I feel like reporting the incident myself to the police, then they wouldn’t have a choice.

Take care everyone flowers

Gelisajams Fri 10-Apr-26 07:05:49

Good morning all from a cool Morecambe Bay where the recent warmer weather has brought many trees into blossom and leaf, and the bluebells are appearing in the wood. Definitely my favourite season.
I finally managed to get my clients rose tied to her new trellis yesterday. She was getting increasingly anxious about it, so as soon as she phoned to say the trellis had been fitted I went over and tied it in. I will survey the damage to her flower beds next week. It’s early in the season so I’m hoping the crushed plants will recover.
I have a friend staying, so today we will drive up to Cumbria and make use of our Historic Houses membership.
Take care everyone.

Ashcombe Fri 10-Apr-26 07:08:16

What a traumatic experience for all concerned, Melanie61, especially your DGS. Could the dog wear a muzzle? However, I think you’re right - its days are numbered.

RosesandLilac Fri 10-Apr-26 07:13:51

Good morning, it’s dry and dull-skyed here in south Glos , a bit chilly too.
I pottered around yesterday, took the clothes I had ordered from M&S to the post office for a refund - either I’ve shrunk 4” or their regular length trousers are ridiculously long - and posted a birthday card to DD.
I went into the surgery to ask for something to calm me when I eventually have the PETscan, I’m very claustrophobic. A lovely lady GP phoned me later to discuss and I burst into tears, it’s all finally hitting me I think. Anyway I will collect a prescription this morning. She’s chasing up the appointment too.
I had a cup of tea with my lovely neighbours across the road, she does cross-stitch and I have several kits that I can’t see well enough to do so I will give them to her.
A quiet day ahead.
Hugs to anyone who needs one x

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Yesterday’s trip out to get measured for a new bra came to nothing as neither M&S or J Lewis could fit me in, so gave up. Making an appointment is obviously the only way now. I will go to an independent nearby.
Today a quiet morning followed by deaf group for tea and chat later.

Melanie61 Fri 10-Apr-26 07:16:49

Ashcombe, I have had dogs all my life. I wouldn’t hesitate to deal with an aggressive dog.
You can’t put a child’s life below that of a dog. It is very distressing but once a dog has turned that way there is no training that will deal with that.
I was surprised the dog wasn’t muzzled with it being around children. I think the trouble lies with thinking the dog has human emotions.

Gagagran Fri 10-Apr-26 07:16:55

Good Morning all from a cooler central south coast. It seems to have reverted to more normal April weather after the lovely taste of summer we had earlier this week. Hopefully it will be back again soon.

I had a busy day yesterday with a hair appointment at 9, and WI in the afternoon and some essential household chores in and amongst. WI was interesting as we had several refugees from the now-closed adjacent WI. I knew most of them as I was a former president of that WI, in pre-covid days. It felt a very full house but it was lovely to catch up with one old friend in particular. I think it will work out well. Our president, who is my choir chum too, is very welcoming and organised and she hit just the right note explaining our WI activities to the newbies. I even won some chocolate biscuits in the raffle, so a good afternoon!

This morning Tesco will be delivering my grocery order and DH will cycle down to the pharmacy to collect my repeat prescription and that is all there is on the agenda so far.

How awful for all involved with that dog, Melanie and I hope sense prevails and they have it despatched before a real tragedy occurs. I can understand your anger and concern.

Wishing everyone a calm and easeful day especially all our strugglers. sunshine

cornergran Fri 10-Apr-26 07:19:24

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy, cool corner of Somerset.

After a frustrating morning we headed out to a newly discovered, very small, family owned garden centre with a quirky cafe. A restorative cuppa later we bought a couple of perennial plants to fill holes and came home in a better frame of mind.

Volunteering this morning and a grocery top up shop later.

Your grandson must have been very scared melanie, hope he’s ok today.

Best wishes to everyone, have the best day you can.

baubles Fri 10-Apr-26 07:19:27

Good morning from bright South Lanarkshire.

Enjoy your lunch Mick.

Bella looks like your boys had a fun birthday.

How awful Melanie, I hope your DGS is recovering from the shock.

I didn’t do much other than crochet flowers yesterday & I’ll do more today.
For many reasons yarn group hasn’t been as active as usual this year and we haven’t done our spring time yarn bomb so we’re trying to get some flower wreaths together quickly.

Salmon for dinner since it’s fish Friday.

Have the best day possible everyone.

karmalady Fri 10-Apr-26 07:20:35

Good morning from s somerset, cool and cloudy today, perhaps a small pop of sun

A couple of deliveries are expected this morning, I need to stay in for those. My organic box has arrived, I am onto salads and fruit at the moment, my allotment is still enabling other veg, the squash are storing very well and are delicious

I have a new allotment neighbour, very friendly male, he has an impediment but is setting to, like a whirlwind, he is very chatty and an old school gardener. I did a lot there yesterday, constructing the `falling-down` divider which meant bashing strong 7` metal rods in with my lump hammer. These are lovely strong cast iron rods with domes at the top. I already had them at home and didn`t want them in harms way at the allotment but feel good now they are re-purposed and they will bever rot, like wooden posts. I got them in by at least almost 3`

I tested my new cast iron skillet during the evening, made caramelised onion and the oil has started the seasoning process. It`s a very nice uk -made pan which I can use in the oven too, for quiche, bread etc and I am keeping this pan handy. I have no toxic non -stick left in my house apart from my small air fryer and that is next to go

A tiring day yesterday but had a good sleep and will just potter around the house today, tidy my fridge and so on

NannyJan53 Fri 10-Apr-26 07:21:24

Good morning from a cloudy Black Country.

Lovely walk yesterday in the local Country Park, and coffee and chat afterwards in the Cafe.

Today we are meeting up with DD, SIL and girls for lunch.

Melanie61 I think you need to report to police. How terrible for your DGS. A few years ago a neighbours dog bit DGD. She had to go to Doctors with the bite, and the Doctor said to SIL, if you don't report it to the Police I am afraid I will have to. So SIL reported it.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

cornergran Fri 10-Apr-26 07:23:23

You’re not alone with the trouser roses, M&S sizing is shall we say unpredictable. I’m thankful there is kind support from your surgery. 🥀

kittylester Fri 10-Apr-26 07:24:12

Good morning all from a brightish North Leicestershire.

I need to get moving early as I am meeting DS1 for lunch and have to go to the butchers and the egg farm before.

We had a good day with Bertie and Wolfie at the crazy golf - Wolfie is very competitive but learning to cope better with set backs and Bertie is a lovely big brother. Afterwards, they enjoyed using my new velvetiser and adding all the extras.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Fri 10-Apr-26 07:25:42

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and sunny. I think there's frost on the cars. Bellasnana lovely photos. Madeleine that sounds like a great day.
Yesterday I took the car to get the flaw in the paint fixed. By eleven, they had phoned to say it was done. Fortunately dd was available to take me back down. The rest of the day was very quiet. I had a delivery of a birthday present so I can tick that off the list.
Today will be really quiet. I don't expect to see anyone. If it stays dry, I will do some weeding. I might hang out a washing too. Definitely living the high life! Have a good day all.

Redcar Fri 10-Apr-26 07:27:30

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s grey and cool. Yesterday was a pleasant day, bright and not too warm. I was at my dear sis in law’s funeral which was very moving, but long. A requiem mass, followed by a committal service at a crematorium, lots of standing about and then a very welcome sit down with food etc in a local pub. I have been quite concerned that there were a lot of people whose faces I recognised but whose names I’d forgotten, but as I hadn’t seen them since Covid, and even before that only occasionally, perhaps it’s not surprising! My back wasn’t happy with the hard Church pews and standing around and is still stiff today but it’ll recover!
Bingo at lunchtime today, then I have to collect a prescription from the pharmacy for my dementia friend, as her DH is unable to do so.

Ginny I hope you have a lovely cruise.

ashcombe I hope the test drive in the Ford Puma goes well and that you’ll soon be driving a new car!

melanie I hope the situation regarding the dog is resolved soon.

Have the best day possible everyone.

glammagran Fri 10-Apr-26 07:29:14

Good morning from a chilly and overcast Wiltshire. I lost my post yesterday.

We were back in the main part of Bowood house and grounds on Wednesday. The adventure playground was rammed but it was fairly quiet elsewhere. It is indeed beautiful there BlueSapphire. We took a picnic with us and ate down by the lake. The car was recording 26°c when we returned to it. 10,000 steps over 2 days and my hip was complaining loudly.

Yesterday I had an early Specsavers appointment to collect varifocal glasses which I haven’t had before and to get a trial of toric contact lenses. The jury is out on both atm. I also ordered trellis fence panels for the garden.

Today DD1 and GD1 who is 20 are coming to stay. She is returning to Newcastle Uni this week. We will go into Bath for lunch and have dinner here this evening. It will be lovely to have them as I’ve not seen them since Christmas. They were going to call in to see DD2 and family but probably won’t due to the dire situation of 4 way lights in town meaning it is taking up to an hour to get through the area at peak times. To make things worse there are road closures in the vicinity too. They will return home on another road.

I hope your little grandsons had a really lovely 4th birthday yesterday Bella. Hasn’t the time flown?

Wishing everyone a good day.
