Morning from a sunny S Hants, we have frost! I’m up early as MrJ is working.
Yesterday MrJ chased the pharmacy for me and went to the cashpoint, then off to bowls.
I spent sometime wandering the garden, a friend called for coffee, the day rounded off with a bbq for two.
How frustrating with your feet Grandmabatty.
I hope the poorlies have a better day and we all have some sun in our hearts.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a dry sunny start to the day with 17° forecast for later
It’s the gym for me this morning, then I’m meeting a small group of ladies in town for a quick coffee. I’ll pop into M&S food for a few things and then get the bus home. Yesterday afternoon I saw one of my neighbours at the bus stop and we had a lovely chat on the bus back home.
Sorry to hear your feet are still sore grandmabatty so frustrating for you
Pleased to hear your uncles operation went so well Gagagran, hope his recovery is trouble free
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning kitty and all.

Busy day today, I have to go to Sainsbury’s and from there walk to M&S as I forgot to pick up a parcel yesterday!
Pilates after that then taking a friend to the hospital to have the pins taken out of her foot.
In the meantime my cleaners are coming to work their magic.

Hoping everyone has a good day.

Marzipan it really is.I was on them for two years and have felt so much better off them.Last year my skin burned through the car window🤦🏼‍♀️

Good news about your brother Gagagran.

Grandmabatty such painful feet is awful for you as everything you do you are putting your weight on them so harder for them to heal.Hope they improve today🙏🏻💐

GrannyGravy13 Fri 24-Apr-26 07:45:36

Good morning from an overcast S E Essex.

The 11yr old has been fed (egg and bacon sandwich and fresh orange juice)

I shall go to the gym first thing, then I need to go to M & S Food Hall and Boots to find some little bits and bobs for DD’s birthday next week.

Out with friends this evening to an Italian restaurant, taxi is booked so we can have a glass of vino…

I do hope Madeleine is ok

(((hugs))) to all 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from a dry and sunny NE. It is 4° but expecting a high of 14 ° this afternoon.
Yesterday it was sunny all day but the wind was chilling.
I spent most of the day reading and fell ,asleep on the sofa again.
Today I am going out for lunch with my friend, enjoy catching up once a month.
Have a good day

Morning all from a sunny West Oxfordshire.

I am off shortly to listen to an Arts Society lecture in the next town. The parking is appalling so I will go early and have breakfast.

After lunch OH and I will go to our nearby NT property. It reopened at Easter but this is our first opportunity to visit. We will look at OH’s favourite Burne Jones mural in the house and finish with a cream tea. We will drive home via the beautiful bluebell woods. They are flowering a couple of weeks early this year.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk although there seemed to be a frost before 6am…..known only because of an early morning visit to the loo. I had another hour and a half sleep after that.

I have my usual 6 weekly hair appt which is alway a chance to get all the local gossip from D and other customers in the salon.

I’m then heading off to our other nearby town to hand over my rucksack to the friend I met earlier in the week. She wants to try it out on a forthcoming train journey which involves a couple of changes. Now she is using a stick we thought it might be easier that having that in one hand and a case on wheels in the other.

I’m then off to meet another friend in a cafe for a late lunch so a lovely day in prospect. I hope all have something good to look forward to.

Good morning all. We are in Keswick today after arriving yesterday to celebrate our 49 th wedding anniversary. The sun was splitting the trees and we sat out in the early evening as if it was July. Can’t believe how the years have flown but here we are. Going for a jaunt around the lakes today fingers crossed that the weather holds have a good day all.

Greyduster Fri 24-Apr-26 08:06:32

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where we are set to have another bright day. Yesterday, after a slow start, the sun shone all day. The beech trees are just coming into leaf in the woods and my favourite sight is to see them sparkling in the sunlight, as if supported by nothing at all. That, and the carpet of bluebells, was a joy. I did a little gardening in the late afternoon.

I was supposed to have a covid jab at the local pharmacy today but it was cancelled. No idea why. DD suggested they may not either have the vaccine, or not enough of it. I have rebooked.

School this afternoon, but a short session today. I may get the mower out when I come home.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Greyduster Fri 24-Apr-26 08:09:57

Meant to post a photo!

Good morning all, the sun is streaming through the window, but it is only 2°C

Glad to hear more positive news of your brother, Gaga.

Susan, in April 1978, we had weather like this. We lived in Troon and everyday, I walked six month old DS in the pram. I ended up with both hands babdaged, I was so sensitive to the sun. So painful.

Painful feet are awful, GMB. I am living in trainers at the moment, when I want to wear my Imelda Marcus collection. Walking is so painful.

Yesterday turned out to be such a joyful day. We had an unannounced visit from Babydoll and DS2. The house has been too quiet, without her.
She spent the afternoon skidding in the water fountains. It gave DH such a boost.
She was glued to my side, but at one point disappeared into the house. Seeing Papa is OK, She said. You OK, Papa?.😪 Later on, my heart melted, when out of the blue, she said, Gaga, I'm happy. ♥️

Today I am going to Silverburn and have persuaded DH to come with me and have a coffee. I have promised not to shop. 😉

I went into the pharmacy yesterday and all the assistants gasped, when they saw my hair!
However, despite one lady saying, You always had beautiful hair, however, they thought it suited me. I wasn't convinced! 😄

I fished out a photo of my hair, from over twenty years ago, on the River City set I was a fan!😊) My hair is exactly the same. DH says I haven't aged at all. 😂

Thank you all for the support yesterday, for my self centred silliness.

Ashcombe Fri 24-Apr-26 08:18:38

Good morning (we’re late again!) from a sunny but breezy Torbay.

Yesterday I appreciated DH helping with the Lidl shop and he liked the roominess of the new car's boot. (All the clutter that occupied the boot space of my Fiesta is now stored below the boot in the extra space where a tyre would once have been! )

Later we watched this week's play at our theatre. We sat next to a delightful young French woman, here for a two week course in English and golf! She was delighted to speak French to DH who spoke of his life in France, etc.

Wishing everyone a very good day! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

hollysteers Fri 24-Apr-26 08:20:03

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast. Quite an active couple of days for me, lunchtime recital, opera co rehearsal with some tricky new music followed by drinks for longtime member on her birthday, then yesterday out to lunch with old friend at his favourite restaurant, he’s in his nineties and doing very well, but not driving now, so I did the honours.
Many people sitting outside, but I’m still feeling the chilly breeze.

FaceTime with DD in the south, we are working out our approach to my solicitor for costs dating back to 2018, which we think might be a mistake as the work dates to last year. I’m glad to have her screwed on head helping me in these matters.
I wish I had more energy these days, but there it is. My DD says I do ‘a lot’, but compared to what I used to do, it doesn’t seem much…I’m sure some of you here feel the same. It’s rather frustrating.
My black bin disappeared on bin day and I went round my neighbours to see if had been taken in by mistake. It’s magically reappeared, so a bit of a mystery. It gave me an idea for a children’s story along the lines of the runaway bus.

Off to art group soon, then I will be glad to have some time to myself.
Heartening news Gagagran, congratulations Harris and it would be nice to hear from Madeleine🌺

Another beautiful sunny day ahead and the weekend too it seems! Good morning everyone from south Manchester.

Last year I bought 3 pairs of linen trousers from Seasalt and because Himself was poorly we didn’t go anywhere and I never wore them. I tried a pair on last night and forgot how LONG they were! I am tall and the trousers trailed on the floor. Unlike Victoria Beckham I’d like them to be shortened. As I can even sew on a button (I have form) I’m taking said trousers over the road to a great shop that do sewing alterations. They have 2 fitting rooms so I can try on a pair to show the seamstress (tailoress? Is there a difference?) whilst wearing my Birks to get the length I’d like.

This independent shop here in the town centre has gone from strength to strength in the 4 years it’s been trading, so good to see and the owner now employs three staff. You can see them at their sewing machines in the open room next to the reception area.

Other than that I’ll wash some bedding to get it dried on the balcony, walk through the park to the second of my bereavement counselling sessions and once home it’s fish ‘n’ chip Friday! Yum. 😋

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Frost on the grass and a clear blue sky. Yesterday was beautiful 😍. I hung out the sheets.

I did a late shift in the café/store where I will be this morning too.
I manage the till and take orders and the café staff brought me several cups of coffee and almond cake.

The electrician called at 10pm to fix my kiln. I had gone to bed but got up to take him tea and to speak. He did fix it but was still here at midnight. 😞

I am going to a friend's exhibition preview in Edinburgh tonight so not having my usual Friday dinner party.

Marydoll I love the way you're standing outside your shop 😂

Poor GMB sore feet must be awful.

Enjoy the sunshine if you possibly can everyone. Nice photo greyduster

Good morning from a bright, sunny Durham. Hoping it warms up later. I had my Covid jab yesterday, but my arm feels so heavy and around the site is very tender.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning, then a free afternoon, before I collect DD2’s Little Dog who’ll be staying with me for a week, whilst her DH is away in NYC. Walking will be on my agenda!

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from Sheffield

karmalady, I was interested in your asparagus heads. I have just cropped mine this year. They’ve been in the ground four years. There was maybe not enough to feed a family but a few light starters of asparagus lightly fried in butter has been divine.

I have my osteopath this morning and then my friend will pop round for coffee later.
This is a friend with the poorly son with his heart. He’s been very closely monitored at the moment before they decide what to do. It’ll either be an operation on his vagus nerve or a pacemaker but he’s okay at the moment.

The talk on the houseplants at WI the other night was excellent.
Can anyone remember on gardeners world last year there was a young man who lived in a very small flat with over 1000 house plants? Well it was him who gave us the talk ,he was very knowledgeable and engaging
I enjoyed it

It looks like it’s going to be a gorgeous day. Hopefully it is for everyone else too

take care everyone flowers

cornergran Fri 24-Apr-26 09:44:48

fgt you’ve led me astray. The menu says stir fry salmon with loads of veg. No chance. Fish and chips it will be. 😂

RosiesMawagain Fri 24-Apr-26 09:47:01

I no longer post very often on GM but love following your news- my plans for each day are often not worth a mention!
But I too am missing Madeleine ‘s posts- I hope it is just internet problems.

I had a wonderful day yesterday at one of the last performances of Birmingham Royal Ballet’s «Don Quixote» tour at Sadlers Wells
Even the Tube strike couldn’t spoil my day, although the buses were jampacked between Euston and the Angel.
I met my sisters in law at a Banana Tree for a lovely lunch. We decided to get a selection of starters/light plates to share and that was ideal for catching up too.
I have seen this production twice already this year, including the opening night when Carlos Acosta 🤩 was sitting just along from us with the great and the good.
I can honestly say that the principals this time,, Basilio and Kitri were the best I have seen this season. It was such a joyous, vibrant production.
Coming home was a nightmare, there had been a fatality on the line and trains were cancelled for hours. Euston was packed with frustrated non- travellers and of course when I did get a train it looked as if I would be standing all the way home. White hair has its pluses though and I grateful accepted the offer of a seat.
So a long day but a gorgeous one.
Today? Less exciting, Covid jab early afternoon and thankfully not a lot else for the rest of the day.
