This evening it’s chicken risotto as I needed to use up some leeks and yesterday’s roast chicken.

It’s happily cooking in the Thermomix whilst I waste time on SM!

Risotto is my go to comfort food, I just love it and I always have ingredients to cobble one together.

Chilli, lime and coconut chicken with spinach, wholemeal rice and DH will have a Peshwari naan.
Why , because we have never made it before and we try most things

Pork kebabs, with lettuce, onion and lemon in a pitta bread. I'm dieting at the moment, the pork is lean and I can give my husband something extra if he's hungry.
Supper is just another name for dinner for us, we're not really bothered what people call their evening meal. It is usually our largest meal of the day, though personally I prefer to ear that at lunchtime.

I am surprised how many of you have puddings, for us it’s high days and holidays only.

I think I would be the size of a house if we started on the puddings.

Fresh fillet of plaice from our fresh fish stall, comes on a Tuesday and a Saturday. Their produce is always so fresh so will be a treat. Jersey Royals and locally grown asparagus, followed by English strawberries. I’m not normally so organised!

Breakfast dinner and tea, no such thing as supper apart from maybe a drink and snack
Supper sounds very upper class I don’t think working class people have ‘supper’

Salmon with cauli mash and a green salad, as I am eating low carb.

I've been out to lunch with the ladies, DH took himself off to eat in our local tapas bar. We are both too full to eat much more so (yippee) no cooking tonight.

We are 9 (!) For supper this evening so I've made a huge chicken and lentil casserole and a large cob loaf. Grilled pineapple with coconut yogurt for pudding. Hope they like it. (A bit tough if they dont)

Supper is what you call a savoury or full meal in the evening. Tea is/was a meal with jam and bread.

My grandparents, all working class, one set had breakfast lunch and dinner, the other set breakfast lunch and supper.

Tonight we are having scrambled eggs on toast for our evening meal.

Left over chicken breast from Sunday roast, shredded into celery, garlic, onion, mushrooms softened in butter, I added flour and milk and made a cheese sauce and added some broccoli 🥦 cooked in the microwave. Then used the foregoing and made a chicken lasagne. It was tasty!

I had smoked Basa fish ...bit like smoked haddock...new potatoes, roasted tomatoes and spinach. Very tasty.😋

Allira Tue 28-Apr-26 19:59:36

Fish, new potatoes and parsley sauce with local asparagus. Parsley from the garden.

What a strange observation Sago! Only about 12 of the 80 odd posters have mentioned deserts and most of those have been yoghurt and fruit! Pretty healthy and hardly likely to end up "the size of a house" on that!

This evening we finished off last night's leek and butternut squash soup. With it we had a bacon and egg stottie with tomato ketchup.
The flavours in the soup had matured and it was much tastier than yesterday.

Basgetti Tue 28-Apr-26 20:57:27

Haddock fish fingers and beans, my go to comfort.
Husband taken into hospital again, third time this year. Home quite late and just can’t be fussed.
Was supposed to be dinner for two and a night at the opera for my birthday 🥺

Allira Tue 28-Apr-26 21:05:50

Oh, Basgetti, I'm sorry.

I hope your DH will be all right, disappointing, but he is in the right place.

Happy birthday seems inappropriate but flowers

Basgetti Tue 28-Apr-26 21:07:31

Oh, thank you Allira X

Well not in our upbringing Monica breakfast was usually eggs and bacon , then a midday meal (or school dinner) which was called dinner ( dinner time) meat and veg etc then tea or teatime would be something like beans or cheese on toast or sandwich and cup of tea ( hence the name) and supper was a drink of milk and a biscuit or some crisps

We never had supper as a full meal just a light snack before bed

It's Breakfast, Dinner and Tea here in our part of the North West. Though our children now say Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner (they are obviously more posh than their Mum and Dad!). Supper (for all of us) just means a snack before bedtime. Tonight's tea was homemade fish saag curry with rice followed by a yoghurt.

Supper when I was a girl was often cream crackers with lemon curd. Yuk!!

HelterSkelter1 Wed 29-Apr-26 07:43:17

Sandwiches and cake at 4.00 pm will be tea for me and then supper is my evening meal at 6.30 ish. Lunch is at midday. Soup/quiche/tuna salad etc. Dinner is only on .Sunday. i never have "dinner"in the evening. Even though it may be a dinnery sort of meal.

Tonight my supper will be trout fillet, new potatoes and broccoli follwed by stewed appkes and custard.

I will be herded out with you boheminan

nanna8 Wed 29-Apr-26 09:02:23

Fresh basa fillets in sweet chilli sauce done in the air fryer, sprouts and frozen chips. We have our main meal at night. Usually I would do potatoes but I have got some frozen chips in the freezer that need using.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 29-Apr-26 09:10:06

Supper in our house used to be a cup of cocoa and two buttered cracker biscuits.

Supper is what we decide to call it, same with tea. Not what you decide Monica.
