Happy birthday Mick and thank you for this lovely Good Morning thread. Hope you have a good day.🥳

I had a nice day out with DD3 and the boys yesterday. We went to the Playmobil Funpark and it was a joy to see my treasures happy and enjoying themselves.

Watched tennis in the afternoon and didn’t do much else. I’m basically a sloth 🦥

Meeting a friend for coffee at 9.30. Haven’t checked the weather but expect it will be sunny.

Glad you enjoyed your week in Malta EkwaNimitee. It has changed so much over the 45 years I’ve called it home but I still love it.

Wishing you all a good weekend.☀️

Happy birthday, Mick. 1948 was a good year, wasn’t it. 😊
Good morning from Bristol. The sky is becoming lighter, with sunrise due in about 20 minutes.
I was tired all day yesterday, but plugging on, as one does, due to previous commitments.
The day started with the delivery of an enormous “shed”, about a third of the size of a shipping container! I suspect it’s an office for the painters - when it actually starts…
Spanish next, where I was lacklustre and not really engaging with anything. As there are only 4 of us, each needs to put in quite a bit.
I was due to go to the church hall at 2pm, but the chap doing the work with me needed to leave earlier than expected, so I had lunch and rushed to the church hall, forgetting the essential staple gun. He had his car, so it was quickly collected. We finished in good time, the room looks lovely and fresh now.
I was exhausted and just sat for the rest of the day, interrupted by my upstairs neighbour. She’s been having trouble with her car, repairing will cost more than it’s worth. Her worry? What will the (“million”) people she drives do if she doesn’t have one?
Today, church cleaning, which I planned on doing yesterday afternoon, church coffee, then nothing - just pottering.
Hav3 @ good day everyone; hugs to those who need one.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Lovely photos, bellas. Aren’t the boys grown up?

Grannydaisy1 Sat 02-May-26 06:04:34

Happy Birthday Mick Hope you have a great day

Grandmabatty Sat 02-May-26 06:11:44

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and dry- at the moment. There is a heavy cloud cover. Mick a very happy birthday to you. I hope you have a nice day. Bellasnana lovely photos of the boys. GrandMattie looks like the work will actually happen!
Yesterday was a very lazy day. I did change the sheets etc, wash and dry them etc, but that was the extent of my labours. I rested a lot and elevated my feet. I find my fairly new sofas uncomfortable if I sit on them for any length of time which is disappointing.
Today I'm picking up my friend for Saturday breakfast- her lift isnt available-and we will go to our usual haunt, the garden centre. Then I will take her home. Afterwards I have a tesco delivery due. I might see ds at some point this weekend as his washing machine has broken down. I am looking forward to a ham and chicken salad tonight for dinner. Have a good day all.

Gelisajams Sat 02-May-26 06:31:22

Happy 78th Mick, enjoy your beer later. Good morning all from a cloudy Morecambe Bay where it is at least dry and may be for much of the day. Yesterday I took DS out to Grasmere in the Lakes. We left home early to avoid the heavy traffic and found the village very quiet and peaceful. We stood for ages on the bridge looking down into the river Rothay watching a variety of birds and fish. Suddenly the shadow of an aircraft appeared on the water as RAF trainer plane flew overhead.
Grasmere gingerbread was purchased along with a couple of summer fleeces. One for DS and one for DH. We had an early lunch in our favourite cafe and I then took DS back to the station to get his train home. Hopefully the day has lifted his spirits a little.
I will try and upload a couple of photos.
Today is my empty as DH takes Crazy dog on a long walk leaving me to get on with what I choose. I’m hoping to finish weeding the gravel path round the garden.
Thinking of all with health and family worries. Take care. thanks

Good morning from Sheffield
Happy birthday Mick, enjoy your day

I have woken with an awful sinus headache. I’ve taken some painkillers, sometimes they don’t work. It’s a thing I get from time to time

DH is patching up some rendering on the end of the house today. I shall be his goto.
I can’t see much else happening after that.

I have done all the crochet squares for my boho cardigan .
I know have to lay them all out and work out the best colourway before joining them together so I’ll have a go at that later

Take care everyone flowers

Good morning and it’s bright and sunny here in Essex .

A beautiful day yesterday which enhanced our celebrations for 2 little grandnieces christening . They were over from Holland and staying with my brother who lives in an idyllic village with a picture postcard church where the ceremony was held.

A lovely reception followed in the village pavilion . We could have stepped into an old film when England was at its best.

Today we travel to our seaside cottage just for the day, sadly, but we must pick up paperwork for the sale and draw plans of the plot. Surely the search team should be doing that! 🤔.

We’re going early and hope the A12 behaves.🤞.

Enjoy the weekend . Rain coming in tomorrow.☀️☔️

Good morning from our cabin on MS Oscar Wilde, sailing along the Rhine between Cologne and Koblenz in bright sunshine.

Yesterday was tiring because we had to travel on two trains twixt London and Cologne due to the change at Brussels with much walking between platforms. I couldn’t have managed without olddudders. He was wonderful at coping with two cases, his rucksack and me!

Happy birthday, Mick!

Happy weekend, everyone! 😀

cornergran Sat 02-May-26 06:47:16

Morning Mick, morning All. A dry start to our corner of Somerset, rain due later.

Yesterday’s forecast rain missed us, the garden is disappointed. Hope to see our elder son today, traffic and energy permitting.

Lovely photos gelisajams. Thank you.

A very happy birthday mick. 🎂. 1948 was indeed a very good year.

Wishing you all the best day it can be.

GrandmaC47 Sat 02-May-26 06:49:26

Happy Birthday, Mick 🎂🍺

kittylester Sat 02-May-26 07:03:18

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire. Many happy returns of the day Mick.

DH is leaving early ish to go to Cheltenham for the Jazz Festival. I intend to hose the remaining garden furniture and sort my choir folders. Then I aim to enjoy my empty weekend.

Have the best day possible everyone.

karmalady Sat 02-May-26 07:10:51

Good morning from cloudy s somerset, some much wanted rain this afternoon

Gingster how was it at the opticians, several of us had fingers crossed all day

Happy birthday to Mick I am also a member of the 1948 gang

I spent several nice hours outside yesterday and put some more veg plants into the raised beds at the side of my house. Relaxed on my recliner too, reading and later plied the 3 skeins

I did a little de-cluttering in my garage and a large wool rug is being taken by a dd this weekend. It has been rolled up and protected in my garage for six years. I don`t have house space for it and have finally admitted it to myself. It does however give me joy when I can pass things onto family or even to strangers , so I am joyful

I planted 3 large pots of sansevieria leaf cuttings ,several in each pot, they all developed roots in water. Those pots are destined for Christmas presents. I don`t use soil, I use a substrate which they love. I watered all my sansevierias yesterday, just a trickle and only monthly in summer. They do best in indirect bright light. I love those plants and have many different varieties

I have to be in for a parcel delivery today, my sunshade parasol components are arriving in drips and drabs and the driver has a tendency to not ring the bell

EkwaNimitee Sat 02-May-26 07:20:44

A very Happy Birthday to you Mick! A good excuse to treat yourself whilst out,

Gagagran Sat 02-May-26 07:34:06

Good Morning all from the central south coast with a cloud layer over the sky. Quite a change from the blue skies we have enjoyed of late. I would be glad to see some rain give my new plantings a drenching. They always do better with rain to drink as opposed to water from the hosepipe.

We are getting the laundry done early as there is a visit from DD and her other half due and she hasn't said when we should have the welcome mat out. Well, it's always out of course but I like to be ready with a warm welcome and not sorting laundry when they arrive! They are returning for a party this evening, at friends in their old village, adjacent to us and we shall see them at some point. I do miss her popping in as she did when they lived there and it was why we came to live here, near them!

The new neighbours are still busy painting and were still at it when I went to bed at 10pm. They have had lots of visitors presumably to view their new home or perhaps give a hand with the painting. It is nice not to have an empty house next to us with the concerns about what or who could take up unofficial residence!

Thoughts as always are with all our strugglers with burdens
or troubles of any kind. May the day be kind to us all and bring some peace and comfort. sunshine

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. I have a few bags for the charity shop which I will deal with this morning. A curry tonight, trying a new gluten free sauce.
Happy birthday Mick
Lovely photos Bellasnana
Best wishes

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s cool and still with white cloud cover. Alexa tells me it’s going to stay cloudy, 19°C with rain forecast by 10pm tonight.

It’s the remembrance meal for Himself this afternoon. Our Yorkshire Lass and her husband are going to stay over with me afterwards.

Many happy returns of the day to you Mick 78 now if I remember correctly? Enjoy your day.

It’s my neighbour’s birthday today. He and his wife are good friends and invite me (was us) for evening drinks occasionally. I’ve bought him a card and a large bunch of King asparagus from M&S. I’ve wrapped it in tissue paper and put it in a bag. His wife was going to buy some at the start of the week knowing he loves it but when a friend she was shopping with was horrified at the price “have you seen the price of it?” (£7.50) she put it back. So, an ideal present I thought for a man of 86 😁

Happy birthday, Mick! Hope you have a good day 🍻🧁

Marydoll Sat 02-May-26 07:37:50

God morning all from Glasgow, where it is 11°C.

Happy Birthday Mick.🎂🎁🎉, It is also my DIL2's birthday.

I have nothing interesting to report,
Life is rather overwhelming at the moment. Trying to cope with a stubborn DH and his erratic behaviour, is not so easy, when I feel so under the weather.
Sadly, he is unaware, that his behavior is upsetting me so much.
He is afraid, but won't admit it.

Ash, I am so envious of your trip. I remember, waking up on an overnight train to Munich, seeing an illuminated Köln Cathedral, with the river glistening below. It was magnificent.
Enjoy!

Have a pleasant Saturday, everyone.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 02-May-26 07:43:56

Good morning from Stockport.
Happy Birthday Mick, you are all such youngsters to me.
My friend across the road had a fall in the house yesterday, falling backwards on her coccyx, nothing broken but she is in a lot of pain.
Her D has moved in temporarily, neither of them being very patient I think apart from offering help I will keep a low profile.

I was up early as my cat’s very unfriendly “enemy” came in to eat her foot as usual but got trapped as the cat flap was locked in the position that allows coming in but not going out and was howling in the kitchen, Molly was just watching from the landing.
I hope you can all find some peace and sun in your lives today.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 02-May-26 07:43:58

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Rain is forecast.

Happy birthday Mick.

It is my granddaughter’s 10th birthday today. Where on earth have those years gone! We will see her on Monday in Kew for a family party. OH says that younger son should be there too. He won’t be as the falling out between my two sons continues after two years.

I have parcels to click and collect at Waitrose. I also need petrol - I think Sainsbury’s are currently the cheapest.

OH has some frames to make for his bee hives. Rather than make them in the garage he will make them in the house. There will be hammering and banging and sawdust! So long as he clears up afterwards.

Our nesting pigeon has vanished. She was perched on her rickety nest yesterday morning but had gone by the afternoon. There are a lot of cats around which may have put her off. . We have two and next door have three.

Have a good day everyone.

brook2704 Sat 02-May-26 07:48:04

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bit cooler with light grey clouds
Thank you for the pictures Gelisajams I really like Grasmere and the Lake District
A very Happy Birthday Mick, thank you for opening up the GM thread every day and enjoy your special day today! 🍺 🎂
We’re going to the garden centre this morning for a few colourful plants to pot up and have at the front door, we’ll also get a coffee there. Then this evening I’m going to another line dancing social event at the local village hall. The instructor hosts them every 6 weeks or so and they’re really enjoyable with a good crowd and lots of laughter.
Bellas awww gorgeous!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from our home for the weekend in Norfolk.
A long journey yesterday, the A12 wasn't too bad Gingster. We stopped for lunch at a pub by the Broads.
This morning we have a team meeting on the beach then this afternoon is the start of the rugby tournament.
This evening we are all dressing up in 70's costumes, should be fun, maybe.
A happy birthday Mick enjoy your special day.
Have a lovely day everyone xx
