Are you irritating in RL? (light hearted)

I notice I have started to say "Wow", more or less every time somebody tells me something.

" My daughter works in London" Wow, really?
"I've done 2 Pilates classes this week" Wow, amazing

This must be very irritating for others.

I think I’m probably very irritating in RL!

I also say “wow”, it’s seems to fit lots of announcements and responses!

I’m also a pedant, which means I annoy myself with my parrot responses.

I know irritate myself, so I must drive others mad! 🙈🙈

Never mind! I do have some good qualities too and I’m old enough not to care too much!

What did we say before Wow was invented?

A lady I have just met talks non-stop and her reply to me if I make a remark to engage in actual conversation, is Right, then goes back to what she wants to say.

M0nica Wed 06-May-26 07:57:46

I used to say 'Gosh' for some reason. Now I say 'wow'

Cherrytree59 Wed 06-May-26 08:02:47

I also use Wow!
Probably started around the time my Grandsons came in to the world and every milestone or achievement deserved a Wow ! 🙂

Wow apparently is an old Scots word
First used in literature way back in 1500's
My Grandpa preferred Help ma' Jings

I used to say 'Gosh' for some reason. Now I say 'wow'

I'm a Gosher too, frequently "indeed" and seem to "hey ho" far too much!
I am much as I type! Far too many !!!s & grins & shock faces!
I try to limit myself in public!

Aveline Wed 06-May-26 08:11:29

Is it not 'Jings, crivvens, help ma' Bob'?
Sorry. Just being pedantic

nanna8 Wed 06-May-26 08:14:05

Far out ! You wouldn’t read about it.

Marydoll Wed 06-May-26 08:19:46

I am just generally iritating! wink

A psychologist friend, told me I am a perfectionist, so I drive everyone mad.

Grannybags Wed 06-May-26 09:43:25

I'm probably quite irritating!

I "Wow!" all the time too and can't seem to write a sentence without an exclamation mark (!)

LadyGracie Wed 06-May-26 09:57:36

Cabbie21 I know her sister!

Cossy Wed 06-May-26 10:00:20

Oh it seems we are all quite irritating g I RL! (Oops another exclamation mark!)

Let’s just accept and celebrate it 👏💐🥳

MT62 Wed 06-May-26 10:07:04

I am a gosh, blimey, blinking heck kind of person. People who say awesome all the time annoy me.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 06-May-26 10:11:19

I’m a gosh and jolly good type of person.

nanaK54 Wed 06-May-26 10:12:03

Guilty as charged!

I say 'cool' far too often.

Have been known to mutter to myself 'I'm getting on my own nerves now' grin

25Avalon Wed 06-May-26 10:17:50

Is it ok to say Brills? That’s one I find myself using after I’ve said Wow.

Georgesgran Wed 06-May-26 10:26:51

Yes to ‘brill’ and my new go to is ‘good lord!’

JamesandJon33 Wed 06-May-26 11:00:06

‘Well fancy that ‘ covers a lot of situations.

fancythat Wed 06-May-26 11:39:56

eh?! Taking my name in vain!! grin

winterwhite Wed 06-May-26 11:52:20

I say Good heavens, or in a bad news context Jeepers

Retread Wed 06-May-26 11:56:53

I say "Isn't it?" As in "It's a lovely day, isn't it" 😂

I think I picked it up from Banjo Beale on Scotland's House of the Year because he does it all the time - and it's irritating, isn't it. 🤣

Kate1949 Wed 06-May-26 11:57:58

I say 'fab' or 'fabulous'. I'm stuck in the 1960s. I also say 'flippin eck' or 'bloody Nora'.

Greyduster Wed 06-May-26 12:16:01

‘Indeed’ and ‘Absolutely’ are mine, I’m afraid, especially the latter.

Astitchintime Wed 06-May-26 12:16:28

I am inclined to say ‘ooh, lovely’ when something warrants it.
Anything that’s irks me generally get “that’s nice”………. means something totally opposite and viewers of Mrs Browns Boys will know! 🤣

Norah Wed 06-May-26 12:18:35

Am I irritating IRL? Ask our daughters.
