What colour car do you have or did you used to drive?

For the first time in my life I have a red car. I love it. I’ve had it a couple of years now. It is funny but many of my friends ( we are all over 70) also chose red ones. We used to always go for dark grey or navy. We still have a dark bluish mauve one that my husband drives . It is easy to find it in the car park, much easier than the grey one which you had to wander around to find when you forgot where you left it!
When the children were young they pleaded with us not to get another mustard yellow one - horrible colour but it must have been popular then in the 1980s.

Back in 1982 I had a white Ford Capri with two red stripes down the sides. My friends called it ‘the jam sandwich’.

DH has a red Mini with a black roof, I have a dark metallic grey Z4 . We once had a bright yellow SeAt Ibiza which went like a rocket & was known as the Flying Custard. It was brilliant. The Mini's predecessor was British Racing Green with a white roof, it was beautiful

I think that different cars look good in different colours. I have a model of car which I think looks good in white, hence my choice. (Definitely not tacky!) When I change my car I will look at the range of colours on offer and decide what suits the car best.

#1 Red and #2 white with pink tiger stripes.

Brown sadly so call it Woody ( Guthrie)

Currently blue but I have had black, beige, white and dark yellow that I can remember.
I don’t mind most colours,
but I have never wanted an automatic car.
And I like 4 doors not 2.

We changed our car last year . I wanted a turquoise one but that colour had disappeared from the colour chart . We had to settle for a dark grey one as white would always look dirty, because of the condition of the drive.
It seems that brighter coloured cars appear when the economic situation improves. Depressing economic situation = depressing car colours. Just look at large car parks. What happens to the bright coloured cars?

Never had a car but mostly seem to be white in my family and we re definitely not a tacky family…. bit judgemental there Viceversa all are home owners in very decent jobs

I'm puzzled too.
Why is white tacky?

My last car was a darker red metallic, a lovely colour but the new(er) one is silver.

When my granddaughter was asked what sort of car she wanted she said not red. They are so lucky ,these kids. They get bought a car each when they turn 18. We never dreamt of anything like that, just totally out of the question. Different times.

Did they not get the Baby Bonus? DGS put his towards his first car at 18.

I did have a red e-type Jaguar but now have a tiny A class Mercedes in deep blue. So easy to park in central London.

I used to have a beautiful metallic pink car. Absolutely loved it and kept it for 13 years. Always easy to spot in a car park. After that I had a grey one and used to come out of the supermarket or wherever and have to try to remember where I’d parked because I never needed to take much notice with the pink one.

I'm on my 9th car. They have been white, turquoise, red, red, red, blue, white, red, and now blue. Seems I have a preference for red overall! However I don't think I ever chose a car for its colour. I went by model/style and what was available at the time. The last 3 have been the same make and successive models of essentially the same car. Current car is 18 years old and the last one was 18 when it eventually died so I've been happy with this make and model! If the next one lasts as long it will probably outlast me, or at least my ability to drive!

I have a white Fiat 500 I don't usually like white but when I had my THR. I needed a high seated car when I was able to drive again so it's perfect.

I have a fabulous French navy Fiat 500 with a cream soft top, love it 😀

Ooh I bet that looks smart Nls 😃
I like fond of the Fiat 500 car.

It does, in fact it looks a lot smarter than me 😳🤣 when I first had it, always felt I should have my lippy on, nowadays, not so much, my gd borrows it often, but only because it’s so cool Nan …

I see many more bright yellow and orange ones these days. Mine is a bright blue.

Years ago I had a bright blue old banger, and my DH decided to paint it black (It did need painting) In the following months I had several near misses where it was clear from the other driver that they had simply not noticed me.

What does annoy me is the folks with grey or silver cars who think that they should not put their lights on in dusk or misty weather. Lights are as much as to be seen as to see.

I have a lovely purple Citroen C3 Picasso. It is 10 years old and I want to keep it as long as possible

First car was pale yellow.
Second was bright blue.
Third was red.
Current car is a weird red/orange/pinky/crimson

I'd like a black one next time please. But not a white one.

I’ve had three red cars. Two were Toyota Yaris . And my first car was a red Mustang . It was left hand drive and a very pretty car. But it was 3 door and when babies arrived I needed a 5 door car .
My DH is a petrol head and loves his cars . He also gets bored with them, so we’ve had a huge variety of vehicles in various colours , but only one green car which was a landrover discovery.

I was once selling a car and a caller asked its colour. I said red. He said, ‘I don’t want that, I’ve crashed three red cars.’ I told him, ‘That’s not the colour, it’s the way you drive!’

The one I learnt to drive on was a two tone Holden premier estate which was a huge car, very long. I felt safe because there was a lot of metal between me and the front and back! Should have kept it , it would have antique value now and it was pretty ancient when we got it in 1975.

Bright metallic blue, so easy to find in the car park. Previous was silver which always seemed to look clean and didn.t show scratches.

Lyndie Sat 09-May-26 09:50:56

I don't usually choose the my car colour. It's usually age and mileage and make. My current cars are White and dark blue

TheWeirdoAgain60 Sat 09-May-26 09:59:07

Mine is a Kia, petrol, 4 doors, and banana yellow!

Faxgran Sun 10-May-26 10:29:28

My first car was yellow, ‘citron’ iirc.
I’d never seen a colour like it until I dealt with my firstborn’s nappies: ‘aaah yes’ I remember thinking.

SueEH Sun 10-May-26 18:30:34

Mine are always black, except for two cars ago when a flat capped idiot hit me and wrote off my beloved convertible; I had to buy something quickly and found a dark grey fiesta.
