What colour car do you have or did you used to drive?

For the first time in my life I have a red car. I love it. I’ve had it a couple of years now. It is funny but many of my friends ( we are all over 70) also chose red ones. We used to always go for dark grey or navy. We still have a dark bluish mauve one that my husband drives . It is easy to find it in the car park, much easier than the grey one which you had to wander around to find when you forgot where you left it!
When the children were young they pleaded with us not to get another mustard yellow one - horrible colour but it must have been popular then in the 1980s.

I have never seen a white Range Rover - wonder whether we get them here? Some of our roads are dirt tracks so maybe they thought they would look too filthy! We get a lot of dust, even in the suburbs.

Black, dark green, dark blue: anything but white - shows the dirt too much!

Redor Racing Green- and always a mini.

I have a fabulous orange Renault Clio …. And I love the colour … I don’t like red but this is a real orange 😊 … I was daring enough to buy it without seeing it first in lockdown when my SIL found it on the internet and it had to be driven 300 miles to get to me.

I’ve noticed that a lot of new cars are white or silver. My favourite car colour is red but I haven’t been lucky enough to find one, I can’t afford a new car. My current car is a really nice mid blue and the colour does stand out, even though it seems small because of the size of newer cars.

I have a fabulous French navy Fiat 500 with a cream soft top, love it 😀

My Kia Picanto is Adventurous Green. I would love a yellow car. Most of my previous cars have been blue, except for a silver Yarris and a beige Austin Allegro.

My Kia Picanto is yellow - and I love it! so easy to spot in a car park. Someone said in a similar thread a while ago that they thought yellow was naff!
My favourite car (back in the 70s) was a white TR7 - great for posing in!

I have a British Racing green mini. I love it but trying to get 2 grandchildren strapped in the back is a pain, even though it’s 4 door.

I have a bright orange corsa, I'll never go back to having a grey car!

Lupatria Thu 07-May-26 14:35:31

my current car is black and i've ordered another black one from motability - due next month hopefully.
i've had cars of many colours in the past - blue, grey, red, green and brown but my favourite was my silver BMW- my silver dream machine.
as I have a blue badge I know where i've parked my car at the supermarket so I have no problem finding it.

Ooh I bet that looks smart Nls 😃
I like fond of the Fiat 500 car.

My current car is red, 10 years old and I quite like it. I'm not usually fussed about which car but I did buy a canary yellow Fiat 500 which I absolutely loved to bits. It's the only car I ever owned and named, Lola. I loved it to bits but my DH found it for sale on ebay a couple of years ago. She was in a very sorry state but I was amazed she was still going - must have been at least 13 or 14 years old.

Insurance companies bank on customers not questioning their renewal quotes . They hope we’ll accept to avoid the inconvenience of shopping around.

Their ideal customers are those whose policies are set to auto renew and let it go ahead for another year without challenge.

Sorry wrong thread!

I once read a report that white cars have fewer accidents. darker cars are less visible apparently.
I have had 3 white cars. 1 red, one cream, one blue, a grey, a green, a silver.

I have only ever had secondhand cars so don't really get much choice in colour. I had a black car in Turkey which was a company car and it was like an oven most days, couldn't even get in it. I'd get the key in the ignition and switch the air con on for some minutes before I ventured into it. I never wanted a red car but ended up with a red Astra estate which I loved as a car but I hadn't had it long before somebody drove straight into the back of me and wrote it off, so no more red cars for me.

rowyn Thu 07-May-26 14:51:45

Mine is red - only because I was looking for a model like my daughters which she
.recommended, so it just happened to be red.

AT my age, it's not that helpful in a large car park. Went to a big Sainsburys recently, and was sure I knew where I'd parked. I saw another red car, but it wasn't mine Was walking up and down, convinced that I had parked quite near to the shop entrance, when a very nice lady called out and asked if I had lost my car and needed help. I gave her the registration and she quickly found it, much further back than I thought it was. I was so grateful. And also rather worried at my poor memory....... is dementia taking over? HELP!

After saying upthread my orange car is easy to spot in a big car park, I’ve just remembered an embarrassing incident in a large Asda car park last year.

I approached the car and pressed the remote to unlock it and no response. I’d changed the fob battery just hours earlier and thought it must be faulty. Tried a few times more, tried the door handles etc. I was getting nowhere and was about to phone my daughter to come and drive me home with my shopping. Just then the car suddenly unlocked and I found the owner standing beside me wondering what I was doing with her car!

Fortunately she saw the funny side when I realised my identical car model and colour was further along the line. It had probably been unlocked and locked 20 times by then 😆

Lizzies

I am looking to replace my car with something smaller and I came across a Japanese import garage that has a car called a Suzuki Hustler. It is designed for city use and is a mini SUV, very mini as it has only 2 seats in the rear. The one that caught my eye is bright pink with a white roof. I am very tempted as my last 2 cars have been white and grey.

My daughter is looking at one of those. She loves them.

My late Dad always used to say that green was an unlucky colour for a car (that was in the days when you could by ex. GPO vans) I would imagine some colour of cars may be harder to sell second-hand though, especially some of the garish colours you see.

4allweknow Thu 07-May-26 15:49:57

Had pale blue, cream, dark blue, dark green, red, black, white x3, and my favourite maroon. Current model is bronze. Been driving 61 years.

Ziplok Thu 07-May-26 16:39:40

Between us, we’ve had various colours, including red.

Diplomat Thu 07-May-26 17:04:51

My car is white and it was only after I got it that a friend commented that white cars are clearer to see in the dark. Racing green was definitely unlucky for me, an ex fiancé's car which I managed to right off, hence the ex. Really I had a lucky escape!

Delene100 Thu 07-May-26 17:20:50

Four colours I would never buy - red, green, yellow and orange. My present car is white but my next will probably be black or navy blue.

crazyH Thu 07-May-26 17:24:55

Sky Blue Kia Rio - I was given a discount because they couldn’t find a buyer who liked blue 😂
