It feels odd to have a kitchen without our founder.

We shall carry on as she would have wished.

Supporting each other and sharing our ups and downs 😘🥂🫖☕️🍰

My friends took me out for a belated birthday lunch and to a rose breeder to choose one. We had a lovely time then stopped at one house to enjoy her swimming pool and a glass of fizz! A perfect end to the afternoon!

Jaxjacky Tue 23-Jun-26 22:48:34

That sounds spot on Nannytopsy

Good morning very early but still on Greek time.Journey home was fine, assistance at both airports excellent.Spiros had a good time and made lots of friends but seems happy to be home.My friend in Corfu is looking after 9 cats at the moment so,plenty of choice Charleygirl! We had a lovely relaxing holiday with the added bonus of showing our GS our part of Corfu.

DH loved being back to his special place but has became very breathless, probably the extreme heat.
I had a call in Corfu from the hospital to remind me of my heart stress test the following day!Of course I knew nothing about it and ironically I’ve been waiting since February, anyway it will be rescheduled, not that I’m looking forward to it at all.

Sorry to hear your leaving us Grandmabatty do hope you come back soon.
Leave you with a few last pics of Corfu, keep cool everyone.

Welcome home Yia that sea looks very inviting.
I’ve done little today, 35 at least, today’s record has been broken a few miles away at 36.1.
There is chicken in the slow cooker with veg, but neither of us are bothered for a while yet, if at all.
My Mum and Dad had a full size swimming pool from when I was in my mid 20’s, both of my children learnt to swim in it, I was reminiscing today.
Have a good evening all.

Hello everyone. There is to be a Celebration of soop's life on 4 July. I have received a livestream link for it which can be shared. Please PM me if you would like me to share the link with you.

Usedtobeblonde Wed 24-Jun-26 19:39:33

Thank you Baggs nice to hear from you and I hope you are doing ok.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 24-Jun-26 20:02:47

I have 2 swimming pools in my back garden … in Málaga. Shared with many neighbours though! 😂

Another glorious day here. Yoga was good, in an air conditioned room I could’ve stayed all day! Funny isn’t it how some classes just go better than others sometimes. Today I was more bendy and found my chakras … 😁

Lunch was delightful - spending time with two good friends one of whom is very witty so had us giggling away and the time just flew past.

I’m melting. “It’s the same for everyone” my mother used to caution me when I moaned.

Yiayia4 Wed 24-Jun-26 21:27:25

We had a pool in our garden when the boys were growing up A never ending assortment of boys attended every day in summer.🤣🤣

Jaxjacky Wed 24-Jun-26 22:05:03

Thank you Baggs I do hope you are keeping well.
Unfortunately it’s my daughters 40th on the 3rd, party afternoon and evening on the 4th, I’ll be very busy.

harrigran Thu 25-Jun-26 09:41:45

I would have liked to be able to join in Soop's celebration of life but I am travelling to Anstruther in the car with my GD and would be relying on mobile signal.
My thoughts are with Mr Soop and her family, she was a lovely lady and feel privileged to have met her in person.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 25-Jun-26 09:54:14

The service will be available to view for 28 days.

Baggs Thu 25-Jun-26 18:10:12

I've just been speaking to MrSoop. He is pleased that I've shared the link with those who want it. He says to tell you that he is doing okay, keeping busy. That does help as I have found too.

Could those to whom I have sent the link see if it works? As copied with some of the message it does not come up in blue and underlined but I think if you copy and paste it into a browser search bar it should work. I've tried it both blue and not blue and it seems to go to the right place though is not currently active obviously.

MrSoop said he might one day pop into the Soop Kitchen and say hello. He thanks you all for your kindness since Soop died. He sends love to all.

Another hot ‘un! I was grateful for an early hair appointment at the salon this morning as I’d booked it weeks ago - serendipity!

My lovely hair salon owner of many years asked me after doing my roots and cut “Am I blow waving or pinning it, in an up do?”

Turns out there’s an art to this in getting a professional ‘messy’ top knot! Who knew? 🤷‍♀️

I was delighted and said I wish this could last for tomorrow in the heat when I have a funeral to attend and suggested I buy a hair net …. Shades of Ena Sharples here 😮

She said “Have you got a large pair of cotton knickers?”

We’ll surprisingly Dear Readers,
I had (I know you’ll be amazed!).

“Pop them on your head each night, you’ll be good for the weekend”.

Wowzer!

“Just don’t forget to take them off before you set out” she cautioned. Tricks of the trade eh?

Ps I’m rubbish at taking a selfie! 😂

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 25-Jun-26 20:44:09

The mind boggles FGT! I can’t wait to see a picture of you with knickers on your head!

It’s been another hot one. OH did the Waitrose shop for me as I knew I wouldn’t manage the heat. I also cancelled Book group. One of the attendees popped round afterwards and said not many were there and the heat encouraged them to talk nonsense.

I had a migraine. The brightness of the sun was too much for me. Fortunately a triptan did the trick and I recovered enough to eat dinner.

I have to go out tomorrow. I am due to have a hair appointment. OH has to pick up a honey collecting device. One of his hives is bursting with honey so he needs to take it off. I think we’ll do that on Sunday.

Have a good rest of the evening and sleep 💤 tight.

brook2704 Thu 25-Jun-26 21:34:33

Hi to all kitchen friends, just a quick message as trying to catch up on news after a week away 😎
We’ve enjoyed one of our best holidays for a long time and arrived home safely this afternoon. Everything has been top notch, couldn’t fault anything at all and we both feel fully relaxed and rested.
I hope everyone is doing ok, will catch up and be back soon x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 25-Jun-26 23:13:46

Now this sentence “I can’t wait to see a picture of you with knickers on your head!” Isn’t one you’d read very often on GN is it? Maybe it’s even a first …

However just for you LLFL here I am, at 11pm, with said cotton knickers on my head 😁
Fetching, no?

Good job I’m not identifiable! Social media is a very powerful cajoling influence at times 😮

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 26-Jun-26 05:53:35

Wonderful!

GrannyGravy13 Fri 26-Jun-26 06:36:30

Oh that made me chuckle FGT2 😹😹😹

cornergran Fri 26-Jun-26 08:40:47

Morning everyone. Has it worked fgt? A scientific enquiry you understand grin.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 26-Jun-26 09:07:47

It has cornergran! 😁
So just a shower for me this morning, no hair wash/blow yay!

Redcar Fri 26-Jun-26 14:27:15

fgt I love the new look!

I think today is the hottest it’s been all week, there’s a hot breeze blowing, and no respite even in the shade. I shall stay indoors all afternoon again. I have ironed yesterday’s washing and vacuumed throughout the house. I’d really like to sit outside in the garden, but the outside thermometer says it’s 39 out there, so I’m more comfortable inside.

DD2 had to go into London yesterday, she said it wasn’t too bad, the train was air conditioned as was the office. The underground of course isn’t air conditioned so was fairly unpleasant although there were fewer passengers than normal.
The school my DGDs attend has been working normally, although the primary school in this village has closed at 12 each day this week, and I think some parents were keeping their children at home anyway.

brook I’m pleased you had such a relaxing holiday.

Thank you for the update on Mr Soop baggs, I’m glad he’s able to keep busy.

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone, keep cool if it’s hot where you are!

Jaxjacky Fri 26-Jun-26 14:32:25

Other way round here Redcar a mere 30 today after 36/37 the last two days, a pleasant breeze too.
