Good evening kitchen folk. Today was early childcare. The boys rose at the back of seven. Dgs1 had had a nosebleed in the night and was in a bit of a mess with dried blood everywhere. I got them both sorted and then we headed to the park. Lots of jumping, climbing and sliding then ice cream and juice for them and an iced coffee and hot dog for me. More running about then home to grandma's house for drawing. After lunch, the lego kits arrived which pleased both boys. Grandma managed to build 1 and will help dgs1 with his kit tomorrow. Both boys were well behaved, alrhough dgs2 had the occasional flare up. I'm lying on the bed before I make dinner. The weather here has been sunny but not too hot. Perfect. A lousy night of sleep, maybe as we had alarm set for 6, MrJ on an early Gatwick run for daughter and children, off to Turkey.
Fortunately voluntary phone not too bad, a friend came for a light lunch, a really pleasant couple of hours.
It’s been 27, the rest of the week warmer, no…it will be flipping hot! Cooler weekend, relatively speaking.
Bed looking good tonight, plus fan of course.

Another one here who’s pleased yia will be back when she’s ready. I rarely post - but read daily and in a small way, feel I’m among friends.

Temperature rising, garden looking very sad, most friends and neighbours are away - I am not a happy bunny but at least making inroads into my pile of unread books. have given up cooking for the duration apart from tonight’s cheese omelette. I am sure we will look back at this exceptional summer through rose-tinted spectacles when a grey and wet November is upon us, but just now I have had enough of it.

I’ve enjoyed today in the sunshine. Strolled through the park this afternoon with L’il Miss .

The 5 pairs of cardboard glasses I ordered from Jessop’s to watch Wednesday’s total eclipse arrived today which pleased me - as I’m invited over for tea and we can all watch in safety.

A slightly less hot today, and with a cool north easterly breeze it feels almost cold this evening. At least it does downstairs, up in my loft room it still feels warm although I have windows open. The dog is missing her family and isn’t eating much, although she would eat my dinner if I gave it to her. I do give her little titbits from my plate.
I’m hoping for a better sleep tonight, last night was so hot and the traffic was noisy until midnight, then it started again at 5.00.
DD2 has been round several times, she had a day off today to buy school shoes for the 8 year old. She also took the dog out, got me a paper and has just filled my car up with petrol! She’s back at work tomorrow.

No news from DD1 who is staying on a large holiday park near Venice. No doubt they’re having a good time. I’m watering her tomato plants - mine are probably shrivelled by now! I’ll go over on Wednesday and see what’s surviving.

Another hot day and the temperature will increase as the week progresses.

Our cleaner came this morning and I bought petrol (it’s gone up again!) and did a Waitrose shop,

My over the road neighbour hosted her monthly craft group this afternoon. It was fun and there were eight of us. I couldn’t take my quilt as it is enormous so I took my knitting.

I had a telephone call from a friend this evening. Two of our friends are seriously unwell. One is in her eighties and the other in his late seventies. It all sounds rather difficult.

Sleep 💤 tight.

I’m just in from the gym and then a bit of shopping, I picked up a few things from M&S food too but I can’t do a big shop there as there’s no parking nearby. I think I’ll have a nap before making dinner later. I’m running on empty and need to recharge my batteries!

Hi everyone, I’ve just come in from the garden at DD1’s, a very pleasant 24 degrees with a lovely breeze. I rarely sit out, but she has very comfortable sofas and a large umbrella, so I enjoyed half an hour outside, reading a magazine. I think it will be too hot to sit out for the next few days.
I dusted the downstairs rooms and went to the nearby M&S food hall this morning. The air conditioning was very cold,I needed a jumper on! Some of the food was very tempting.

The dog had an early walk with her regular dog walker, but isn’t eating at the moment. She’s missing her family and doesn’t like the heat much. I’ll tempt her with some cooked chicken later.

Afternoon all, 27 here, bed changed this morning, no struggling with quilt covers as there’s just a sheet. Quick shop trip and that was it.
My daughter sent pictures from their accommodation in Turkey, no hosepipe ban there by the looks of it, 37 today.
MrJ off to bowls later, they’ve won the league, but want to win tonight too.

Good evening kitchen folk. The end of my full day childcare for a few weeks. Today the boys were absolutely thrilled to play with Slime which arrived last night. Dgs1 played with it most of the day. After breakfast, we headed to the big toy shop in the retail park where they were allowed 3 items under £30. This made them very happy. Back home they went from Slime, to lego to today's toys all day. That, and eat. I have dropped them home and I'm having a rest before I finish tidying up and then dinner. Tomorrow morning I'm invited to go and see the boys before they go to school so that is what I shall do. Chicken satay and noodles for dinner tonight. Enjoy your evening

Extremely pleased with my bargain of the day, Kurt Geiger trainers £49 down from £156, it’s good to have tiny feet 🦶

Hello kitchen people.

A reasonably quiet day. I visited a friend after lunch. Two or three others turned up for tea and biscuits. We had news of the two friends who aren’t well. My friend of 40 years really isn’t well and the other one is very stubborn about making a doctor’s appointment.

OH has gone out this evening for the first time in a couple of weeks. His cough has just about gone.

Good morning from France!
We are here with DS, DIL, DD SIL and 4 grandchildren. It’s our first visit to a French campsite, with one camper van, one huge tent and one lodge (us!). Lots of swimming and eating going on. The older DGC are being so lovely with the little ones, who are loving it all. 🥰
Today we are off to the beach but it’s going to be very hot so I don’t expect to be there for too long.
