brook my local Waitrose is perishing in January. I feel sorry for the till staff.
GrannyGravy that really was an excellent bargain. They are almost too good to wear!
I was looking for a cardigan yesterday evening as it was 25C! It is 19C here now and I am cold. It will be 34C later; I should be warmer!!!
I had a food delivery yesterday so at least I will be able to have a salad tonight.
Stay cool and look after yourselves.

Soops kitchen, a place of reflection, refuge and at times revelry.
(1001 Posts)It feels odd to have a kitchen without our founder.
We shall carry on as she would have wished.
Supporting each other and sharing our ups and downs 😘🥂🫖☕️🍰
Good evening kitchen folk. Today was first day at school for dgs2. He wasn't keen at first. Lots of "sore heads" and "sore tummy" then he didn't want put on his shirt and tie. Me and my aunt and uncle went to see both boys before school and they were hyper. Then aunt and uncle and I went for second breakfast. Dd said dgs2 went in fine once he saw his wee friend, so that was good. I have pottered about today. Lots of hoovering, after I picked up Lego. Both boys had a good day. Dgs1 said it was "fine." He's a man of few words. 😂
I've had dinner- tagliatelle with bolognaise-and I'm having a glass of wine. It has reached 28° here which is too warm for me. The washing is done and dried, the house has been hoovered again (glitter invasion). Have a good evening kitchen folk x
‘Evening All’.
I’ve enjoyed today (pottering/shopping in the square) and then at 5pm went over to eat warm chicken with salad and rice with the family. I took dessert (not home made) and a chilled bottle of fizz (Cremant) which we drank as we watched the eclipse on chairs in their garden, through our solar safe spex. One for the memory box. 💕
When I left I said see you all in Spain next Thursday! They fly out this Friday. ✈️
Grandmabatty I’m glad to hear your wee boy went fine into school. He’ll be shattered tonight but glad he’s tucked Day 1 under his belt. 😊
I bought a new fan and so far I haven't needed it. It was 30C here and the only time I felt hot was when I was cooking chicken drum sticks in the air fryer for supper.
Tomorrow it may be 38C so I will see how I feel. My cleaner is on holiday, so the housework will wait.
P lease do as little as possible tomorrow.
Even me Charleygirl5? I don’t think I could do much less …
🤣
#lazygran (but I’ll try!)
Have had a busy day with DiL 4 and GC, came home and watched the eclipse from our patio, felt rather emotional knowing that I will not be here for the next one, and probably neither will any of our AC 😿 I am rather in tune with the moon, perhaps I was a werewolf in a previous life.
Night night 🙋♀️
As I didn’t have any eclipse glasses and couldn’t be bothered with faffing with a colander, I watched the eclipse on television! The trees in the park at the end of DD1’s garden prevented me from seeing it anyway. It did get quite dark and the garden lights came on. Quite a lot of people watching from the park.
I went home this morning to be there when the fitter came to install the blackout blinds in the porch and back door. They look good and I hope they may help keep the temperature down a degree or two in this heat.
My room in DD1’s loft extension is both hot and noisy from traffic tonight. Hope I get some sleep!
Night night all, I hope we all get some sleep, tomorrow will be hotter!!
Like most of us today I’m melting! It’s 33°C here in south Manchester.
I’m just home from the nail salon and live my nails so short they were driving me nuts but I had to wait for an appointment longer than I wanted hence their longer length!
I’m going to have to have a second cool shower of the day and change my clothes completely. Oh and pour myself a Roses lime juice cordial with ice!
Neat FGT, definitely sweltering here in 33, I am slobbing around with my shirt removed, good job MrJ is used to my slovenly behaviour.
We have done little today, waved a duster about, tinkered with our Tesco delivery due tomorrow, topped up the water in vases and I unenthusiastically did my exercises, twice!n
Dinner of fresh pasta will be later tonight.
Wishing your family a safe and uncomplicated journey tomorrow FGT
Thanks Jax L’il Miss is just SO excited as she has ‘holiday friends’ out there now. One girl from Essex is her ‘bestie’ since they were pre schoolers.
Every summer together for 2 weeks, swimming, playing with Barbies on the grass, making loom band bracelets. Lovely when you’re only nine isn’t it? She gets so excited to meet up again!
Delightful and great memories.
Hope the family have a lovely holiday fgt, not long until you join them, safe travels to everyone
fgt I hope your family have a lovely holiday, great for L’il Miss to have a friend to play with.
Very hot here today, walked to the nearest supermarket at about 8.45 and it was 25 degrees then. The shop was wonderfully cool. The dog walker was with the dog when I got back, but decided it was too hot to walk her, very sensible. It will probably be too hot again tomorrow The dog was happy to have someone else to make a fuss of her. I’m planning an early M&S food shop in the morning.
A slightly cooler day is forecast - 33 instead of today’s 34!
DD2 and family are coming round for an early dinner - probably fish & chips from a chippy as neither of us wants to cook and there’s very little food here anyway.
Enjoy your evening everyone.
Holiday and a friend is just magical. Fgt.
It reached 30° here Jaxjacky
Today I did an hour in the school library. It was a shambles, so I'm glad I went in. Dgs2 had to be carried in, crying and howling this morning. His teacher collected him from dd and took him straight in. Apparently he came out at the end of the day and said he'd had a great day. Both he and his wee pal ended up in the wars with scrapes but are quite happy. I visited dd for a cuppa after my library shift and then home to potter. Macaroni cheese for dinner because I was too lazy to shop. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk
fgt it is lovely a 9 year old enjoys playing with her friend. They will grow up fast enough and good to be able to play without a worry in the world.
It was 35C today, hot, but I didn't need the fan on. The most I did was fill the dishwasher and switch it on.
Yesterday evening I prepared tonight's supper, chicken drumsticks with a salad. Now I am pleased I had the presence of mind.
Tomorrow will be cooler, thank goodness. I have checked and it is a mere 33C now.
Both lower legs have dressings so I haven't had a shower for ages.
It’s been hot here today, I managed to get the ironing done after the cleaners left and before DD and The Imp came for lunch.
Was in the pool with The Imp for a while which was bliss.
Thinking of our friends in the quiet corner 🙋♀️
Good evening kitchen folk. It's been warm here all day but probably not as hot as you are enduring further south. My phone ee
Struggling to post so i will leave it just now
32 again today, encouraging utter laziness, Tesco delivered, bathrooms cleaned early.
MrJ went to our local earlier, I didn’t!
Hope FGT’s family have travelled well.
My brother is at Jurassic festival, daughter et al still enjoying Turkey.
Yes thanks Jax Mr O’Leary got them off to Málaga on time. A very happy and excited group.
I’ve had a lovely afternoon with friends in their beautiful garden. I walked both ways, not too hot - just sunny with a gentle breeze - so a 90 minute stroll in total. 😇
🤣🤣
JaxJacky. 😂😂😂😂
Yes, we have clouds but no rain unfortunately!
Nice to see you FGT 🌹
