It feels odd to have a kitchen without our founder.

We shall carry on as she would have wished.

Supporting each other and sharing our ups and downs 😘🥂🫖☕️🍰

Good to see you here Blossoming and thank you for the picture
I went to the gym this morning, just one class but it was good to catch up with the gym ladies before and after. Then a trip to the garden centre, had a coffee and a browse around but didn’t buy anything. Tomorrow I’m off out to a Hoedown event, lots of line dancing, boot stamping and dressing up …It’ll be ok after a couple of wines … 😂
Hope it was just your phone playing up grandmabatty and it’s sorted now
Love it Jax!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 14-Aug-26 20:52:56

You too Blossoming you know how we all root for you. x

GrannyGravy13 Fri 14-Aug-26 21:09:52

It’s 25° here , back from having a really scrumptious Thai meal interrupted by the government alert, and then an anxious 11yr old GS who wanted to know if he could put his X Box in his grab bag 🥰

Night night friends 🙋‍♀️

Charleygirl5 Fri 14-Aug-26 21:29:27

Last night Birdbrain forgot about the new fan downstairs. When I checked today, the flex is ridiculously short so Amazon is coming to the rescue tomorrow.

It was a muggy 32C in London and it is 29C now.

I know I shouldn't moan.

brook2704 Fri 14-Aug-26 22:20:55

Aww that’s his priorities sorted GG!

Redcar Fri 14-Aug-26 22:38:13

33 here again and the usual round of opening and closing windows, curtains etc. DD2 came at 7.30 and took DD1’s dog for a walk.
I went to the nearby M&S food hall, which was lovely and cool and getting busy at 9.15!
Did very little for the rest of the day. Hopefully tomorrow will be cooler.
The weather forecasters can’t make up their minds whether we are going to get any showers or not. I decided to leave the 16 cushions out on the garden furniture and hope that if we have any rain it won’t be much!

Night night everyone.

Jaxjacky Sat 15-Aug-26 18:33:43

Hi all, 28 today and humid, washing done early, dried quickly, MrJ ironed his shirts and a top of mine.
My friend who lives in the New Forest returned my call made earlier in the week (visitors), she is fed up with the diverted traffic and sad about the wildlife suffering. The ponies, donkeys, cows and pigs should be ok, it’s the smaller animals and their habitat.
We have clouds, but like you Redcar no sign of rain.
Have a pleasant evening all. Enjoy your bbq GG13.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 15-Aug-26 18:54:53

It has been cooler today so the GS’s are playing football rather than in the spa pool (we are not posh, it’s 21 yrs old now)

The 11yr old is going to cook with DH, I have prepared the salads.

The Imp and I shall have a snuggle and watch the men BBQ, I may have a wine (or two) especially as The Imp is trying it on by saying his bedtime is now 10pm 🥰

Redcar Sat 15-Aug-26 19:08:24

Apparently 24 here today but still feeling humid.
DD1’s dog has an upset stomach - lucky me having to clear it up! DD and family are back tomorrow evening, having had a great holiday. I had intended to go out more while I was staying in the town but didn’t because it was just too hot.
We had the briefest shower this morning, it was dry in 5 minutes and did no good whatever.
I have done absolutely nothing today but must tidy and clean tomorrow before DD1 gets home, although I doubt she’d notice if it was untidy.

grannygravy a wine is definitely called for if the Imp has a late bedtime!

Have a pleasant evening everyone.

‘Evening All’

I’ve been to the Trafford Centre and bought a goose down and feather pillow for a King’s ransom. Thinking about the expense will probably keep me awake …. 😱

I had fish & chips (food of the gods) for my tea. Ages since I last had them. All the nicer. I’ve just eaten two ‘easy peelers’ trying to make the meal seem ‘healthier’. Sigh.

Nannytopsy Sat 15-Aug-26 20:45:58

Those easy peelers will do the trick FGT no problem!
We are home! Car unpacked, Waitrose dinner in, first load of washing on and having a drink in the garden where it’s cool.
DG1 has taught her uncle how to do DG2’s hair. It’s a mass of curls that fall in her face - not now! 🙂

brook2704 Sat 15-Aug-26 21:08:51

Aww such beautiful golden curls nannytopsy well done to uncle!
I’m just home after being out since 4ish, lots of dancing and trying to chat but the music was quite loud so not very good for talking! Never mind we still had a good time. Got my pjs on now and going to chill on the sofa for a while
Hope the dog is better soon redcar!

Hello kitchen people.

Well, apart from popping to the Village Co-op to buy myself a steak and some flowers, I have spent all day sewing. I finished joining up 195 5-inch squares and chose a border fabric. I can’t remember where I bought that fabric from, but it must have been many years ago.

OH was out at a Shooting Club event which involved food. He took along some raspberry and white chocolate cakes I’d made. They went down very well. I cooked myself a delicious steak with chips, mushrooms cooked in garlic and cream and a salad. Yum,

Sleep 💤 tight.

Nannytopsy Sun 16-Aug-26 09:55:38

Do you do outside catering LLFL? Can I book you? That all sounds delicious.
I need to get moving but after a really good night’s sleep, in my own bed with my good pillow, it’s taking me a while to get moving. Washing and watering pots today. If we have beans and courgettes, I will go and get some meat for a final lovely roast before the diet!
I have given up on Wegovy and Mounjaro, so back to a carb free lifestyle. Tomorrow.
I’m glad most of you are enjoying the cooler weather.

RosesandLilac Sun 16-Aug-26 10:55:34

Hello everyone, I’m a long time lurker here, I love reading all about the wonderful GNers’ lives.
I simply love your China cat llfl, it’s very ancient Egypt looking. It reminds me of Bastet, the goddess of home, fertility, domesticity and cats 🐈‍⬛
I also love your quilt; I wish I had the patience and attention to detail that quilting requires but I don’t so perhaps it’s just as well as I really don’t need another project/interest!
I’m doing sashiko at the moment, repetitive and relaxing so it suits me fine!
Hallelujah it’s cooler here!

brook2704 Sun 16-Aug-26 19:10:29

Lovely to see you in the kitchen roses hope you’re having a good day and enjoying it being a bit cooler
It’s been warm here today but it’s just started raining. Luckily we got the lawn mowed earlier before it started but I’ve just had to dash outside to get the washing in. Now I’m just about to dish up dinner, cod mornay from M&S with baby potatoes and peas. We’ve a glass of wine too on the side
Hope everyone in the quiet corner is doing ok, take care all x

Charleygirl5 Sun 16-Aug-26 19:26:47

It is 24C here. I slept well last night but I have had too many dozes today. I employed a 16 year olf to do some gardening for me. The abuse I received from the local Nextdoor was disgraceful. It is illegal for him to work until 18, untrue. His mother was forcing him to work and social services should be involved and so it went on. Nobody mentioned the police. This happened because I gave him a good review. I apparently forced him to work too long. 2 and a 1/2 hours! He was bright and pleasant, he could have ridden off on his bike at any time. Mum let me know when he had left, I did the same when he arrived and also when he left for home. I think he will get some work from "normal" people, but I was taken aback.

No rain is expected until Friday and still people set off fireworks, but I suppose fires don't happen around them.

At least it is cooler and I can get my clothes dried.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 16-Aug-26 19:42:21

Hello kitchen people.

We’ve just finished dinner and OH is clearing up because I cooked. Pudding was strawberry and raspberry crumble with lashings of cream. Hot strawberries are so delicious…

Jaxjacky Sun 16-Aug-26 19:50:00

Hi all, all these lush pus I’d be diabetic and huge if I ate them, jealous!
News from Turkey, a cat got Imogen’s attention, she followed it to a drain where a kitten was stuck, they could not get it out but security did, phew.
A quiet, cooler day, but boy are flies a nuisance lately.
Welcome R&L 👋.

cornergran Sun 16-Aug-26 20:05:24

Hello everyone. A quiet weekend here. Nothing exciting or indeed aggravating. I’m pleased about the latter 😊

Good for Imogen jax. She should be proud of herself.

Your pudding sounds delicious ladylfl. I’m afraid the kitchen here doesn’t put so much effort in.

Oh dear Charley. I wonder what the nay sayers would have made of one of ours cleaning toilets at that age. A garden seems a lot healthier to me.

Hello Roses, although I rarely post on the GM thread now I do read and keep an eye on everyone. It’s good to see you here. You’ll be very welcome

A glass of dry white has appeared. It would be rude to ignore it so I’ll wish you all a very good evening followed by a peaceful night. .

GrannyGravy13 Sun 16-Aug-26 20:46:12

The GC were collected at lunchtime, I stripped their beds washed dried and ironed, just waiting to be put back. Tidied play room, and sorted out garden toys.

Kitchen cleared after roast chicken.

Night night 🙋‍♀️

Jaxjacky Sun 16-Aug-26 20:47:46

You have good staff corner, I got my own wine.
Oh dear busybodies on SM Charley, nosey Parker’s.

Nannytopsy Sun 16-Aug-26 20:48:38

Hello Roses - I lurk on the good morning thread and have been following your post op progress. Keep it up!
We have had a very unsummery dinner of roast beef tonight 🤣. New potatoes, green beans and garlicky courgettes ( both from the garden) kept it summery. I have done 4 lots of washing in the last 24 hours. Only one more to go.
I have been making merry with both the Seasalt and Hotters sales! I have a cruise to prepare for ( that’s my excuse!)

brook2704 Sun 16-Aug-26 20:57:10

Goodness Charleygirl whatever next, one of our young neighbours makes quite a lot cleaning cars!
Oooh nannytopsy thank you, I might just have a look online too
Good for Imogen Jax thankfully a happy ending

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 16-Aug-26 21:18:17

‘Evening All’

I’m in an hour ago from enjoying a delicious chicken biryani with my neighbour friend. My make up off, pj’s on and have been watching Ted Lasso with a mug of tea. My Yorkshire Lass will be arriving any minute. She is my whirlwind daughter who keeps me on my toes. 😁

Oh Charleygirl people can be just so darned aggressive these days can’t they?
