Yesterday my daughter and daughter-in-law were busy grumbling about how slow their first house purchase is taking and wishing it would speed up as they signed their contract 5 weeks ago.

Today my sweet DiL, who’s carry DD baby went into spontaneous labour and after waters broke and baby was upside down with umbilical cord separating, she had an emergency C section and then at 13:00 baby Henry was born at 24.9 weeks, weighing 1lb 6oz.

We are all hoping for a good outcome in the end, please pray to whatever God or spiritual being or keep your fingers crossed that baby Henry comes through this.

DD and DiL in shock and baby about to be transferred to a Neonatal Unit in a hospital nearly 40 miles away. This is their first baby and first try at IVF. He’s so tiny (I couldn’t see him but DD sent photos) 😢

Gosh, over 4lbs and breathing unaided, who’d have thought it all those weeks ago? Marvellous news and yes, please, keep the updates coming. As to his possible blindness, perhaps it may not be as bad as is feared. But, as someone else said, if it turns out to be the case, Henry’s loving family will get him through to be the best that he can be. Sending love ❤️

Please keep posting the updates. Henry's GN aunties want to know how you are all doing.💐

Rosie51 Wed 21-Oct-26 09:42:37

Thanks for the update Cossy mixed though it is. That weight gain is brilliant, as is the breathing. Praying the retina injections can halt any potential blindness, he's been such a fighter. Please keep the updates coming whenever you feel ready to share, there is an army of 'internet aunties' very invested in little Henry. x

Glad Henry has found his voice!

So glad to hear Henry has put on a good amount of weight and is trying to communicate with his little cries.
Hopefully the sight problem can be treated so it's not as bad.🙏
I look forward to the updates on Henry. I do think about him and send him love.

JenniRen Wed 21-Oct-26 11:30:39

Good to hear he has out on a good amount of weight. I hope the treatment for his sight will be successful.

Keep on fighting, Henry. 💙

SueDonim Thu 22-Oct-26 20:44:54

How lovely that Henry is now putting on a good amount of weight and breathing on his own. What a long way he has come. I hope the fears for his eyesight are unfounded. Xxx

A lovely weight gain, Cossy - well done everyone!

I hope tests will show that Henry's sight has not been damaged, but, if it has, he will still be cherished in the warmth of his family's embrace and the support of his Proxy-Grans' network.

He continues to fight and that is all that matters🧸 x

Brilliant news about Henry's weight and breathing both improving 😊

Prayers for his eyesight, hopefully the injections will help x

Just to say that our own wee man, born at 28 weeks and weighing less than a bag of sugar, turns 40 today. We didn’t know then if he would survive for 40 hours, let alone 40 years but, just like wee Henry, he’s strong 💪

BIG NEWS

Our little warrior has been moved from NICU high intensive 1-1 to a proper cot (no lid and no temperature control) and into NICU slightly lower intensive with 1-2 nursing. He’s still only 4lbs 4oz but doctors say this is fine as he’s using more calories breathing without the ventilator.

He’s very cute, but does have a much larger head than body, but he’ll eventually catch up.

His eyes have improved with the injections and are started to develop more normally, so only time will tell if his vision is impaired.

He didn’t get on with his CPAP mask and kept trying to rip off the mask, so has been moved to a more gentle process just through both nostrils, taped to his face and no constricting masks. He’s had his very first all-over wash!

He’s 12 weeks old today! His tube fed formula has changed once more to an even more intense concentration of “big boy” very high fat formula tube fed, and no additional “long line” tube with supplemental proteins and vits.

Every week a team from GOSH video call the team from Homerton just to talk about his nutrition, bowels, digestion and stoma care.

This is all HUGE! thanks 🩵
