Things that (sometimes unreasonably) get on your nerves...hopefully lighthearted

Adverts on tv, why are they so much louder than the actual programme. People on mobile phones, why are they so loud and always want to share. Don’t get me started on bad driving habits - are we supposed to guess what the driver intends to do - there are indicators to be used. Where did the halt and give-way signs go as drivers now just ignore basic road sense and pull out when they shouldn’t. I could go on, but these are the worst for me.

People walking towards me looking at their phone, and me having to move out of their way, if possible. Just this morning, I had to lean into the wall of shop that I was passing, as a chap walked towards me, eyes on his phone. He saw me trying to let him past, but he just looked at me - no “sorry”.

Visitors to my local city who form a line right across the pavement, strolling really slowly and preventing others getting past them at a normal pace without stepping into the road.

... women, sadly always women, who swim slowly in tandem, chatting and taking up half the swimming pool - or those who gather in a bug huddle in the middle of the pool.

I had a "slowly in tandem" pair in a pool I used to use regularly for exercise. They chatted the whole time during every length they swam.
Ladies...... do your swim.... Get a coffee and chat afterwards......Please...........😒😒

Ditto! May I add those people who stand at one end interminably chatting, and blocking the end of two lanes when I’m trying to do my lengths?
My David Lloyd has a very nice, comfortable club room which I’d have thought perfect for chatting in. Not to mention the jacuzzi, which is where a lot of people seem to do their chatting.

Entitled passengers on public transport. Travelling by plane is the worst for this but trains and buses are pretty bad. Recently we went in a train where a man was sitting next to his golf clubs that took up the seat next to him, and there was a storage place at the front of the carriage because this train was the Gatwick express. It was quite crowded and when a young woman asked him if he could move his clubs he swore and made a big show of moving his clubs so that she could sit down. I felt like hitting him with one of his clubs.

People who stroll nonchalantly in a park, pretending not to see their dog pooing on the grass behind them and then walking away, leaving it for some unsuspecting soul to tread in it. Makes me SO angry! I want to rub the owners nose in it!
Cyclists riding two by two chatting, even on a busy road. So inconsiderate.
Car drivers parking on a corner, particularly near a school or shop.
Women in those ubiquitous black leggings, the fabric of which is so thin they look like tights. Even worse if they’re wearing short tops. So elegant, not.
The bladder control pads adverts, as another poster has said, so annoying!
People letting a door go in my face.

Another folk wuth tital disregard for others when shouting in their phones. Convinced they are going or are already deaf.
People on bikes in parks who tinkle their bell behind you expecting you to hear and jump out of their way.

One of my pet hates too, I've just read a book where the author must have forgotten what she'd written because she kept contradicting herself, the nook was so badly written even though the plot line would have been a decent story

Carers playing their music in the car quite loudly at seven thirty in the morning whilst waiting for their partners to turn up.
Two weeks of this I’d had enough, I rang the care agency & asked if they would ask their staff to be considerate of the neighbours.
Apart from that the person who were attending is terminally ill so not good for them either.

Summer tv programming? Everything is on repeat? Nothing new! Horrendous replacement presenters? News that is not news but mischief making!
Constant tv weather presenters telling us it’s the 4th 5th 6th heatwave???

I had that outside my house a couple of days ago. I went over to the car and left them in no doubt how angry I was.

Shop assistants saying 'Are you all right?' when I'm standing in front of them waving something I want to buy.

What happened to 'Can I help you?' or just taking the object to scan it.

Next time, I'm going to say 'I think I've got the Black Death and my house burnt down yesterday. How about you?'

People who walk too close behind me. This happened just this morning again! I could hear a a young woman talking excitedly directly behind me and caught sight of how close she was by the reflection in a shop window…….for context, I have poor mobility and walk with sticks and the pavement was plenty wide enough for her and her elderly relative to walk well away from me………I half turned and shouted over my shoulder “ do you really have to walk so close behind people you stupid woman?”

Since I started wearing hearing aids, certain noises irritate me as they are very much amplified.

Eg. My partner continually sniffing.
I hadn’t noticed this at all before.
Also, loud crunching of crisps and crisp packets.
Lip smacking whilst eating.

I try not to notice, but it’s very irritating.

I sometimes get annoyed with myself when I look in the fridge, with a choice of things to eat and dont want any of them!!

Do you ever find that if you see a menu at a cafe and decide to treat yourself , that the one thing you really fancied is sold out or off the menu!

When I'm on my bike, I get annoyed with people who walk in the middle of narrow city streets, or step off the pavement without looking.
I have been known to make an acid comment, like "Oh, should I be cycling on the pavement?"

Romola, as an occasional cyclist, I know what you mean. However, I do think that there should be more publicity and training to remind cyclists that there are no rules for pedestrians.

I have pointed that out to some who have ridden past me closely on a pavement. I have no problem with cyclists on a pavement, particularly children, as the main roads around here are not safe for cycling. It does help thought, if they ping a bell as they are approaching pedestrians, who may be deaf, and also if they are aware that it is perfectly possible for a pedestrian to turn suddenly to cross the road if they see a space, or to reach out an arm suddenly to point something out to a companion.

I did tell a young man who passed me on the road side without any warning (he did have a bell) that it would have been him, not me, who might have ended up under a lorry if I had moved suddenly!

Loading a full shop on the supermarket conveyor and ending up waiting while staff have to wander down the aisles looking for the missing barcode for the umpteenth time.
After just giving the bathroom a deep clean, MrCC deciding to shower after giving his hair a No. 2 cut and thinking it's ok to leave the shower in right mess with his clippings.

Oh fallingstar I'm with you! Loud conversations on the train or in cafes irritate tge living day lights out of me. What really gets my goat is the filthy look you get given if you dare to look over towards them! If it's a private conversation don't put it on loud speaker or leave tge room.

Almost everyone walking on the right rather than left in crowded spaces. Possibly a London thing. I’ve put it down to most pedestrians having grown up elsewhere where you drive and therefore walk on the right…?
