Things that (sometimes unreasonably) get on your nerves...hopefully lighthearted

People who block the pavement in group, walk toward you looking at their phone, tailgaters, americanisms in our language, cliques, constant adverts and that dreadful smug couple who precede the weather on Sky and GBNews. Maybe I should stop now......

I sometimes get annoyed with myself when I look in the fridge, with a choice of things to eat and dont want any of them!!

Story of my husband's life. Frequently he will check the online menu of a restaurant we plan to visit and see something he has decided he will order. Doesn't matter if it's near home or when we're away on a holiday, when we get there he can't have it. Last time this happened the menu had changed the week before our visit but the online menu hadn't been updated!

Just thought of another...having my windows open in this warm weather and other people's cooking smells coming in, usually stuff like fried onions, so then I haven't noticed until it's too late and my house is full of stink ! Have to run round shutting everything up !

Someone who doesn't live here parked a car outside my house and never came near it for 3 months. I don't know where they live. Another person has started leaving a car parked on the footpath while they visit someone in the next road.

I seem to grow more intolerant by the day as l get get older.
Everything seems to bug me.

People now seem to be a lot louder these days. No filters.

Having been a lecturer and a TEFL teacher, I am used to all sorts of dialects and ways of speaking and have no problem with any of them, although at my age, I find the changes towards more american stresses in words ,not to my liking. However the one thing that really gets me cringing, is when I hear someone saying "It's nearly (or almost) unique" Unique means exactly that . Don't know why that particularly irritates but it does!

Trying to contact a company that allows only ‘chat’ contact, no email,or phone number available. It is OK for straightforward queries but anything else cannot be coped with. I wasted four hours going round in circles. Trying to get some sense.

Updating software making it twice as difficult to complete a task.
Just completed an application that wanted so much information, copies of certificates referral,letters, photos etc. It took me three days to do something that would have taken only an hour or two if there had been the option to stick it all in the post. I am partially sighted and this related to that fact. Who thought up the application was not thinking of the users at all.

When using tech takes five times as long as a pencil, paper, and person wiuld have done.
Particularly if it doesnt deal with the issue you wanted dealt with, anyway.

So many businesses where you have to speak to a recording. They never seem to understand what you're saying and you have to waste a frustrating amount of time until you get transferred to a live person.And that's if you're lucky!

Journalists and tv presenters whose stock-in-trade is words but nevertheless make dreadful grammatical errors. Today on the BBC 6o/c news one of the reporters said “Her and her husband did something or other”!

Lycra clad blokes on bikes going past my house early on Sunday mornings having shouting conversations with each other.

I'm irritated by the trend to introduce numerous characters separately, giving a variety of timelines, sometimes many chapters apart and with unmemorable names and characters. I keep flipping back thinking, was that the brother or.....? Who the hell is she?

Me too!
I’m irritated by so many things so here are a few:
People who only talk about themselves and show no interest in my life;
Being called “Lovely”;
Stupid made-up names for babies;
Loud people;
Mothers (and some fathers) who talk loudly and sweetly to their small children when they walk past as though they’re trying to impress me;
Dogs and everything about them..
I could go on ….

I’m in England and it irritates me when people say ‘to go’ when they mean ‘take away’

As a musician, I find it annoying when people - often authors - say "(s)he rose to a crescendo. The crescendo is the rising. I also find the present fashion of writing novels in the present tense irritating as it reminds me of "Here is Peter, here is Jane and here is Pat the dog" in the earliest stages of learning to read so somewhat babyish.

I do find several things irritate me. People who inconsiderately smoke at the entrance of buildings. People vaping as they are walking along the street, so that when you are walking behind them you get engulfed in their expelled vapour.
Dog owners who permit their dogs to foul on paths and fail to use poo bags. Those who express themselves using profanities during conversations, worse still when you hear young parents using foul language when talking to their children.

Those insurance and funeral plan adverts where they speak with those overly sympathetic, simpering, whiny voices.

I was irritated this morning when my friend and I were walking our dogs. A couple passed by with a young puppy on a long retractable dog leash several yards behind them. The poor puppy wrapped himself round our legs and our dogs legs while his owners seemed oblivious. My friend who happens to be a dog trainer politely advised the couple to be more aware, buy a short lead and preferably attend a dog training course!

People who, when speaking to a child (not small baby) refer to themselves by name, "Mummy's going to the shops". "Give the toy to Nanny" (said by Nanny). Why can't people use I and me when speaking to a child? Drives me ever so slightly nuts.

My next-door neighbours 20-something son who has his bedroom window wide open all year round, and shouts to his mates via the Internet/ plays noisy games with them until about three in the morning.
This means that I have to close my own bedroom window overnight through this hot summer, otherwise I simply can't get to sleep. (We live mid-terrace, so our windows are not far apart.) But with it closed, I lose the draught so I immediately start to overheat.

I fantasise about waiting until he finally goes quiet - presumably sleeping at last - then putting my radio on full blast at my own bedroom to see how helikes it.

He also smokes weed, and if the wind is blowing our way, which it usually is - our whole house can start to reek of it if the back windows are not fully closed. It took me a couple of years to work out why our house sometimes smelled horrible. It pervades our back yard too, so I have got to share it while sitting out there in the shade this summer.
Grrr.

I get irritated by my son telling me what I should OR shoULD OT DO-I am recovering from a back injury.some days I feel better than others Aand like to get on with things and he gives me a row for not resting. He talks to me as if I’m one of his children(which I’ve told him not to do)Apart from that he’s good at fixing things around the house

Old nproud why don’t you report him to police or environmental dept.its against the law to make excessive noise between 11pm and 7am you would need to record the noise on your phone as proof

What the heck is a ‘picky tea’? Is it short for picnic?

Dont notice many adverts, but there is one where a girl sits there while her father unloads shopping and she is the one ordering or demanding what she wants and he is providing it! The idea that the parent kowtows to the child, is neither funny nor sensible and I dislike it intensely.
