Popped in to see if we had a new ‘kitchen’ couldn’t find one so have opened this.

Hope all is well, will catch up next week 🙋‍♀️

Quick whizz in to wish charley a happy birthday and to hope there’s been something good in the day. Cake too 🎂🎂

brook2704 Mon 21-Sept-26 20:02:25

Thank you all I’m safely home now, the flight actually landed a bit early and we were quick to disembark. I’m going to have something simple to eat, probably beans on toast and then an early night, travelling always makes me tired. It’s definitely a lot colder here, I’ve not needed a jacket all weekend but I do here
It does sound like a B&B GG so lovely though to have a full house! I think I’ll be feeling it at the gym tomorrow too
You’ve been busy grandmabatty pleased that you’ve had such a good day with the boys
At least something good has come out of hipgate Jax!
Hope you have a better nights sleep tonight redcar, take care all

Redcar Mon 21-Sept-26 19:27:34

I hope you’re nearly home now brook after an uneventful journey.

grannygravy what a busy week for you at Gravygrange! I hope you don’t ache too much tomorrow after your exertions at the gym today. You will definitely need another holiday soon.

It’s been a lovely summery day here today so I did some gentle gardening after my walk. I put some Michaelmas daisy plants in the front garden, then planted some bulbs in pots. I managed to dig up a small bay tree that was growing too close to a rose bush and put it in a tall flower pot. I have no idea how it came to be in the garden, one of the DDs may have planted it. Then I watered it all with a watering can. Luckily one of the water butts is full after last week’s rain.

I need an early night tonight, I had a disturbed night last night and am feeling tired now.

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 21-Sept-26 18:03:48

DH is out, so I have found a chicken casserole and about to put it in the oven with loads of veggies.

The gym was hard today I think I will ache tomorrow.

DH has renamed GravyGrange to Grandmas B & B. This week we have the 11yr old sleeping over tomorrow, the nearly 17 yr old and girlfriend sleeping here on Wednesday and The Imp on Thursday. Just washing towels etc., since my sister, B-I-L and their girls here for the weekend.

I think I need another holiday…

Grandmabatty Mon 21-Sept-26 17:46:02

Safe journey home Brook. Jaxjacky such simple pleasures, being able to hang out washing. I'm glad you are more able.
I had a little trip to tesco after I dropped off the boys at school, and bought more than I intended! However I needed new vases because ds borrowed mine. And I had to buy a pumpkin shaped light and pumpkin tea lights and crusty bread... you know how it goes.😂
I emptied and loaded the dishwasher and dried clothes. Then hoovered and put up a couple of autumn paintings. Then went back to school and tidied up the library to my satisfaction. The boys were good and had a good day. They behaved really well after school too. Dd has just picked up dgs2 and I'm lying down before making dinner. A quiet, content sort of day. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk

Jaxjacky Mon 21-Sept-26 17:36:13

Safe travels brook hope you took off on time.
A busy day on the voluntary phone, 9 cams with a lot of back and forth ringing drivers and clients, a few drivers are on holiday, so not 100% requests fulfilled.
It’s been a glorious day after a chilly start, so I’ve been in and out of the garden when I can, MrJ has made a chicken curry for dinner.
It’s funny, he rarely cooked before hipgate, then had to take over, that has continued, even though I can do it, he likes it, fancy that!
Have a good evening all.

brook2704 Mon 21-Sept-26 17:02:52

Aww thank you corner ❤️ Yes I did wake up to a flight update from EasyJet warning me of potential delays so I've been a bit on tenterhooks all day!
But I'm now queuing at the gate and I can see the plane so hoping all will be fine - fingers crossed

cornergran Mon 21-Sept-26 16:50:38

It was our third time there brook. We just love it. We’ve been in the snow, with the sun shining on flowers and now with moody cloud. All equally beautiful. Will we go again? Possibly, depends how health stuff works out We would soon be able to take someone with us for the price of insurance!

Hope the flight was trouble free. Understand there have been air traffic control issues, again, today. 🤞 for you.

brook2704 Mon 21-Sept-26 16:17:35

Hi kitchen pals hope everyone is doing ok
Lovely picture corner I hope you enjoyed your cruise. We did a similar trip earlier this year and loved Norway so much we booked again for next year

Thank you for your kind wishes everyone, I'm at Luton airport just now, flight at 5.30 and looking like all on time. The airport is very busy as usual, it's not my favourite place but needs must! DH will pick me up later

Good that you hung out the washing Jax but like Charley said I wasn't aware you'd not done that since hipgate!

GrandmaC47 Mon 21-Sept-26 16:05:15

Pittcity, thank you. I’ve found the ‘slide to type’ in settings. Now to try it 🤣

Pittcity Mon 21-Sept-26 13:19:18

Only on a smartphone corner.

It works on my Android tablet.
I think that you need the keyboard you use to be swipe enabled.

Charleygirl5 Mon 21-Sept-26 10:46:46

What a lovely break for you corner. At least the food would have been prepared and you didn't have to think about what to cook. It sounds as though Mr C is like me and can sleep on a clothes line.

Jax I didnt realise that was the first time for agess you were able to hang the washing out. It is simple tasks like that we miss.

It is sunny here but there is a nip in the wind. Still no rain.

cornergran Sun 20-Sept-26 22:38:04

Nope, jax. Managed two decent nights out of seven. Mr C is threatening me with a rubber mallet😂. I’m just odd 😂. Night night everyone. With luck a good night for everyone.

GrandmaC47 Sun 20-Sept-26 22:24:25

🫰for reassurance from your GP, Fgt.
I can’t make the swipe thing work on my smart phone 🤣. Think it must be my squidgy fingertips. I have great difficulty imputing data into car park machines and the self check in at the GP surgery

Jaxjacky Sun 20-Sept-26 21:52:01

I imagine it does get boring Redcar, I found it so when MrJ was away for three nights only back in July, but that was no period of time 💐
Beautiful corner did you sleep any better on the boat?

Redcar Sun 20-Sept-26 21:04:30

Hello everyone. I wondered where you were cornergran and hope you had an enjoyable holiday.

fgt I hope you manage to see your gp tomorrow and are reassured.

jaxjacky I get 4 hours of half price electricity on Sundays and squeezed in 3 loads of washing and two of tumble drying! I probably saved £1.

Both DDs and three of the DGDs came over this morning, the fourth DGD was still in bed apparently so her dad stayed behind. DD2’s OH was gardening.

I didn’t do much after they’d gone. I had my usual long phone chat to my oldest friend.
Had home made cottage pie for dinner. I’ve decided i must increase the home made food and reduce the ready prepared food! I find cooking for myself quite boring at times.

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone. Safe journey home tomorrow brook.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 20-Sept-26 20:08:25

Only on a smartphone corner.

cornergran Sun 20-Sept-26 20:05:15

Hello everyone. We were away last week, floating round the Norwegian Fjords. I’ve read all your news, I’m sure everyone will understand the impossibility of responding to all, just the last few.

🤞 for reassurance for you fgt.

Safe trip home brook.

It seems my iPad hasn’t heard of Swyping, or does it only work on a phone?

Have a good evening everyone.

Jaxjacky Sun 20-Sept-26 19:57:32

Hi all, 🤞 FGT for all being well.
Free hour of electricity this morning, so dishwasher and w machine in use, MrJ was watching grandson at football ⚽️. I also cooked out some leeks and chicken, small amount of cream cheese added, all frozen to use later in the week.
I put the washing out for the first time since hipgate 🙂, later prepped veg for dinner, a lazier afternoon watching catch-up TV.
Enjoy your evenings.

Grandmadinosaur Sun 20-Sept-26 19:47:01

It’s been a gorgeous sunny, autumnal day here at our home away from home today.

We went out to breakfast at the cafe of a nearby stately home. We’ve been for coffee many times but a first for breakfast. It was a full one in every sense of the word. Although I managed most of it next time I might ask what is in a children’s option which might suit me better. After that we had a short drive to the coast and walked along the seafront and sat on a bench with a takeaway coffee. When we went back to the car which was parked overlooking the sea we sat for a while looking left over to Flamborough. Beautiful.
We got back early afternoon for DH to watch football. Then as we were still quite full from breakfast just an easy light tea.

A lovely chilled Sunday which is how it should be.

Safe journey home brook

GrannyGravy13 Sun 20-Sept-26 19:42:07

My sister is and her young family are home safely after a lovely weekend with us 🩷

I am exhausted will catch up tomorrow 🙋‍♀️

brook2704 Sun 20-Sept-26 18:42:16

Hope the GP can put your mind at rest soon fgt ❤️
Just in from an afternoon out with DD and family, plans changed a few times today as they do, so we didn’t make it to Thetford forest but I don’t mind where we go. It’s been a gorgeous sunny day, we sat outside with coffee and treats earlier. I helped a little bit with the gardening too but very mindful of coming up with too much ‘advice’ as they need to figure things out themselves!
Heading home tomorrow evening from Luton, hopefully a straightforward journey. I’ve missed Dh too although I think he’s enjoyed the peace and quiet
Hope everyone has a good evening, take care all x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 20-Sept-26 18:28:06

I’m currently binge watching CfA still LLFL! I love it and it’s helping me keep distracted as I’m anxious (very) about a health issue (I have that at the best of times anyway) and being on my own doesn’t help. I’ve been a bit teary this afternoon to be honest.

I’m going to ring the GP tomorrow. Hoping for an investigation. Family history, father died 47 and I’m on high alert with my symptoms which I thought had settled.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 20-Sept-26 18:08:43

Hello kitchen people. I’m just having a break before returning to the kitchen to finish off dinner. Chicken casserole with dumplings and strawberry crumble and the last of the vanilla ice cream I made from a Hugh F W recipe.

I attended church this morning. A tiny church in the middle of nowhere. I didn’t really want to go to a Pet Service at one of the other churches in the Benefice. There were three of us in the congregation plus the vicar and organist.

I’m glad you are enjoying Colin from Accounts FGT. I’m afraid I binge watched the last couple of episodes of series 3.

Have a good evening.

Pittcity Sun 20-Sept-26 18:01:52

Having a go at swyping because the quiet Kitchen has dropped off of "Active".
Roast beef dinner awaits!
