Good morning from Bristol. It has rained in the night and is due “pour” in about an hour. Not holding my breath.
Yesterday went ok. Spanish class was hard, with reading of a short story by Isabel Allende. Much of the vocabulary was south American rather than Castilian. My head ached from the effort by the end!
One person has started to talk to me, and even offered me a lift most of the (uphill) way home, which was really kind.
The afternoon was spent labelling and storing the chutneys, allowing them to mature before sale, then baking. I followed a recipe for lemon crinkle cookies, which turned out to be gigantic! I shall halve the size (and double the number of cookies) next time. The only problem is that in now have three zestless lemons 🍋 and don’t really need any atm.
Today, morning prayers, FAB cafe, then a meeting with Mr. Teflon. Lots to discuss, including the (non) delivery of fence panels, for which we were apparently responsible! No manager working that day…

gM I would cut up the zestless lemons into chunks, open freeze then bag . I use them when lemon juice is required. Especially useful for honey and lemon drinks if I have a cold/cough.

Good morning from Herefordshire where it is very dark and raining.

I've woken up with stiff and achey shoulders today, doubtless caused by going to the gym yesterday and not stretching. I usually stretch but had an assessment with a PT who didn't give me time or opportunity to stretch.

Today's plan is to sort seeds collected from the garden into envelopes for next year. I've got thousands of marigolds and cosmos seeds plus various others which I will experiment with next year.

Not impressed with Andy Burnham's proclamation on the Triple Lock although I shouldn't be surprised. Vowed never to vote Labour again after the Winter Fuel Allowance debacle.

Good morning from Malta where we are promised a sunny day with a high of 28°C.

I walked up to the village yesterday as I needed to go to the pharmacy. Took myself for a coffee before walking home.

This morning I have my nails at 10 then I might go and renew my ID card since I’ll be half way there. It doesn’t expire until January but I want to get it done whilst I remember.

Have had a poor night's sleep due to a burning sensation along the top of my left foot. Maybe I kicked DH for snoring and this is my punishment. 🤣

Yesterday's bulb planting went well, although the little chap thought it was a game to dig them out again, a bit like when we play peekaboo games. I've put the pots on the patio table for now where he can't reach them.

You should be entitled to a refund of at least part of your rail fare, Madeleine. My DD travels by train frequently and says it's possible to do it online if that's easier for you.

This morning we're off to toddler group while DH works from home.

Going to try to sneak another half hour sleep before the house wakes up.

Have the contractors here again today, they will be fitting the outside air conditioning units. I will go to the gym, then come home and make a large cauldron of chilli.

The nearly 17yr old is staying here this evening, I will pop up to the VI college to pick him and his girlfriend up.

I had a lovely catch up with my sister-in-law yesterday,there’s never a lack of things to chat about. She’s recovering very well from her recent health scare and she does have a lot on her plate with family matters. So stressful for her.
Hubby is off to golf this morning with his brother ,her husband and I am working.
We were were invited to our eldest sons for tea last night. It was very pleasant . Lovely to be among that family chaos.

Good morning, it’s actually been raining here! I’m not convinced that we’ve had much but at least the patio looks wet 👏 We’ve has so little rain it’s barely made any difference so far this autumn.
I faffed around yesterday, went to the village to pick up a parcel, usual housework cleaned the living room windows and dusted around.
Today I can please myself, DH will take bigger dog to the village cafe on the way back from their walk and I’ve sorted out my art stuff to do some drawing/ painting. It’s all set out ready so I don’t have any excuses!
Despite my wool duvet I was chilly during the night so I need to add a blanket and dig out warmer nightclothes. I haven’t put the heating on yet and am hoping to avoid doing so for another couple of weeks ( unless of course it gets appreciably colder). I do seem to feel cold when others don’t!
If it’s dry later I will start tidying the front garden, a bit at a time and it’ll get done 😊

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark. Going to be a damp morning it seems. I slept very well last night for a change.

I had a call from my neighbour yesterday while I was at school asking if I was okay. They noticed that my gate had been open all day, my car was in the drive and I didn’t appear to be in the house. I’m told him that I’d been so tired after working in the garden all Monday afternoon that I must have forgotten about the gate which I always keep locked. I think, after our other neighbour collapsed in her house a few weeks ago, it has made them more aware of my being on my own also. They are lovely, and whilst I do appreciate the concern, the last thing I want is people worrying about me. What will be will be.

Writers group at the library this afternoon. I will take back the sweater that I bought from M&S last week and exchange it for something else. It was an impulse buy. Not like me at all. I usually cogitate for weeks before I buy anything!

Wet and windy this last morning in September. Good morning to you all, those who post and those who choose not to.

I have a busy day ahead (by my standards anyway!). L’il Miss will arrive in ten minutes. Second and last day of Ofsted at mum’s school. Breakfast club here then teeth brushed and off we will walk to school 20 minutes.

Coffee in the square again I think. A flat white as a treat then up to change and go to mat yoga in the library. Good job that’s only round the corner else I wouldn’t attend. #lazygran

Home for lunch then the bus to the Trafford Centre to buy some goodies for my stepfather’s birthday.

Racked my brains trying to think of something better but no dice. He has no hobbies (even given up jigsaws lately saying his eyes aren’t good - must get an appointment at the optician for him once his skin surgery has healed), he doesn’t read books (ditto anyway at present). Hasn’t drunk malt whisky since his awful shingles 4 months ago (gone now thankfully) and ‘isn’t bothered’ to enjoy his usual wee dram in an afternoon.

Luckily he has a sweet tooth so M&S it is. And some flowers to cheer the place up.

Home then out to watch L’il Miss at her swimming lesson and get the update on the Ofsted visit.

I don’t know how some of you cope with your daily activities, I really don’t. And I’m younger. Albeit more slothful I suppose …. 🤣

A nice phone call from DD2 yesterday brightened my day, we sorted out a few dates to see the DGC and she asked if we could look after the puppy on some dates too. It was a busy day yesterday, today more of the same. The volunteering centre is very busy at this time of year so I’m helping out quite a lot this week. I’ll be going in first this morning and again on Thursday and Friday. It’s enjoyable so I really don’t mind but it’s just line the buses, nothing for a while and then it comes all at once!

Good Morning everyone from a cloudy, central south coast. The forecast is for thundery showers in a couple of hours then sunshine again. It is too dark to tell if we had rain in the night but DH has just announced that it is raining now.

Yesterday's dental appointment went well. I was first on her list and we were in a new-to-me surgery where the chair was very comfortable. I didn't need injections and she was her usual gentle and meticulous self. The procedure was nowhere near as bad as I had feared and already I am used to the new bite caused by the reinforcement resin behind three front teeth.

The kettle failed completely yesterday so we ordered a same day delivery of a replacement online, and managed with the small travel kettle until the new one arrived in the evening.
My rule of three has now been fulfilled and I am hoping for no further fails!

DH is out with his cycling club today and I have some desk work to do and some TV recordings to catch up with. We still expect the stair lift to be fitted tomorrow but have not had confirmation yet.

A quick good morning from a dull and mild Suffolk from where I am shortly to drive to our nearest station to get a train to Ipswich for a day’s course in connection with the monthly meetings I have.

We had a wonderful trip yesterday on the nearly 80 year old paddle steamer,made in the Glasgow shipyards and the only 1 left in the UK. We were aboard for over 9 hours and with the coach journey back we didn’t get home till after 12.30am. I usually have at least 7 hours sleep so hope I survive on much less.

Glad I decided to let the train take the strain and hope it turns up!

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. It has been bucketing down for hours, thought the weather was to be good today.

It was hard going in the charity shop yesterday, so many donations, we were inundated and really struggled with finding space for all the bags and boxes.

A couple of weeks ago our yarn group put out a call for new members on our Facebook page so last night we had three new people plus another couple who are happy to be ‘at home’ members. This will be a real boost to our work for the community.

Today I’m meeting a couple of friends for coffee then will make a vat of soup, enough to last for a few days.

Yesterday I had two very long phone calls from friends, so lovely to catch up. We went to the farm shop/nursery, pretty violas are ready to go in, a 4kg bag of muddy Maris piper potatoes will keep us going for a while,

Good morning from s somerset, sunny and windy today, we had some rain overnight

My garden is still very productive and will be loving the gentle rain, I have mini cabbages, one sprout plant, everbearer strawberries and lots of chard and perpetual spinach. Carrots and parsnips are still safe in the ground. All this from only a few beds all 1 x 1m. It is saving me a fortune and could not be fresher

Having this veg at home made life so much easier during my downtime. I am almost into week 2 and healing is progressing very well, one more week and I will start cycling again

I spent a lot of time on changing a much-liked pattern to my new older size. Gone from regular bust to full bust, having realised that I needed to have the tape measure taut on the over bust measurement, which changed my bust cup on several makes of pattern. This pattern was Helens closet, the Ashton top with the sleeve extension. I bought it a very long time ago and obviously body size changes over time. I have made lots of these tops over time and have at least 4 in my wardrobe at the moment, I will give them away

My finished dress is lovely, the fabric is a huge upgrade and is a relative pricey linen/soya blend, the long sleeves fitted but look better gathered at the wrist, so I did that. There was enough left to make a top which I have started, a hack made from two patterns I combined

I must nip out this morning, I want to buy colour catcher, one of my ordered quilted fabrics has arrived, cheap from Pound fabrics, basically cerise and white and it looks like indian cotton, will be lovely made-up but I suspect the pink would run

Cleaner due at 9 and DH is off to the gym. My plan is to cook loads of sausage and red onion casserole - for today and for the freezer.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cloudy out and 19 degrees according to my garden thermometer- almost as warm outside as it is indoors. We’ve had some rain in the night, but not sure how much. Yesterday was warm and windy, but I was looking after DD1’s dog, so didn’t do any gardening at home. As expected I drove home in the dark, the roads were still busy at 8 o’clock!
I need to pick up my usual meds from the pharmacy this morning, then see what the day brings.

Good morning all and we’re due to have rain today. We’ll see!

Yesterday the carpet men arrived at 8.50. Dd and I were just finishing off clearing the bedroom. The son who has taken
Over the business is our old neighbour so it was lovely to have a catch-up with him. Our Dd and he were born a week apart at the same hospital and we lived next door to each other for 24 years.

We got the room back in order and hopefully the other bedroom will be done in a couple of weeks. The clearing out takes ages but I’ve managed to get rid of a lot of stuff. I’m not a hoarder and love getting rid.

I couldn’t have done it without Dd and she was very strong and organised. She has a cold brewing so I praying she doesn’t go down with a bang 🙏. Her immune system is non existent. She’s recently noticed bald circles on her scalp. She has very thick hair and lots of it so it isn’t noticeable (at the moment). 😢.

Today I’ll walk up to town, have coffee with my old pal, buy some more violas and cyclamen from the market and pop into M and S.
Dh will go out for brunch with his friend and I’ll meet my surrogate daughter for lunch.,

Yesterday, we had visits from members of three other amdram companies who were returning props they had borrowed. One had come from Kingsbridge which is some distance from here. It gives you an idea of how much others like the range of what we offer for hire.

Good morning from a rather overcast but surprisingly warm Surrey. I opened the back door expecting a chill, but it is so mild. Rain in the night although dry now. The plants in pots were all dripping. They are in heaven. Warm and wet.

A busy afternoon today and busy all day tomorrow. So Friday will be a welcome quiet day. Raking conkers methinks then. Fewer this year I think maybe down to the heat from springtime onwards.
I had to laugh reading the post about how to keep warm this winter. It's only 5 minutes since the posts about how to keep cool. Everything in reverse. Although covering windows is an all year thing for heat reasons. Keeping it in or out. I would love thick shutters. Maybe in my next house that will be an essential.

I had my hair cut yesterday and it's a tad short, but grows so quickly. I have a window of a couple of weeks when it's the perfect length for me. Then it's too long.
