Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry but with complete white cloud cover. I set the alarm for 7am but as you can see I didn’t need it. We are walking over (no car yet) to our daughter’s house to await a delivery slot of some furniture. Then we will walk home for a later breakfast and coffee.

Other than that we have no plans. A very quiet day ahead. I might watch a film this afternoon. Good luck today with your pre-op appointment grandmajet. Wonder how Scentia’s daughter is doing? Her baby is due any time soon.

Hopefully today will be good for us all. Keep safe. x

Urmstongran Thu 13-May-21 06:18:27

P.s. hope your 2nd vaxx goes well Mick with no side effects.

grandMattie Thu 13-May-21 06:21:03

Good morning from a grey damp E Kent.
Good luck with all the tests today, Mick. Enjoy your day out too.
Visited my friend and was effectively caged, with a screen and mic... It is very claustrophobic, but she was glad to see me. The tea trolley came round and in normal times, I would have had a cuppa, but not yesterday. I caused fits of goggles when I asked for a straw to drink out of my friend’s cup. Then - the carer came round with lovely biscuits. I complained that she was adding insult to injury. Cue more giggles. At least, I cheered them al up.
Yesterday would have been my parents’ wedding anniversary. They were married on VE Day +4.
Nothing happening today. More sewing and a stir fry for dinner with Sunday’s roast pork.
Happy birthday for all of those with one. Trust that you’ll find some sunshine ☀️, a smile ? and a flamingo ? in your lives today. ?

Scentia Thu 13-May-21 06:25:32

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is a little grey out there.

DD gave birth to a beautiful baby girl yesterday at 2.00pm. 7lb 7oz. After a traumatic last two weeks of pregnancy and a very difficult birth both mum and daughter are fine and dandy this morning. We have DGS and he has a terrible cold to take home to his baby sister. That’s what comes with starting playgroup I suppose.
Hope you are all well and enjoying our steady return to normality.

Susan56 Thu 13-May-21 06:25:54

Good morning from a very rainy Shropshire.

Thank you for all your supportive messages and advice re my daughter yesterday. We managed to eventually speak to a dr yesterday, no answers as yet and no change as to how she is feeling but hopefully an appointment next week??

Another day of Henry and the school run today. The children were so good yesterday.

Thinking of all unwell and with worries.

Have a good day all??

Susan56 Thu 13-May-21 06:27:10

Oh Scentia ?congratulations. She is absolutely beautiful. What a gorgeous picture to start the day???

Urmstongran Thu 13-May-21 06:28:17

Warmest congratulations Scentia on the safe arrival of your baby granddaughter she is gorgeous!

grandMattie Thu 13-May-21 06:33:09

How wonderful for you all, Scentia. Glad all went well.

Ashcombe Thu 13-May-21 06:36:30

Good morning from a very soggy Torbay, where it has rained all night and is forecast to continue throughout the day!

What a heartwarming photo, Scentia! A perfect picture! Congratulations to you all. ?????

My DD2 in Cheshire had her first vaccination on Tuesday and has had the Moderna, from which she reports no side effects apart from a sore arm. Despite being younger, DS has already had his first one as he occasionally works with elderly and vulnerable folk, responding to pager alarms. His main job is with the police on dispatch for emergency calls. DD1 in Australia has yet to be convinced to be vaccinated. Sigh!

I hope that Susan56’s daughter will soon be well. It must be a worrying time for her. Wishing relief from pain of any kind for those who are suffering. ?

Beechnut Thu 13-May-21 06:36:37

Good Morning everyone from a wet Severnside.

Lovely morning news Scentia. Congratulations to all your family.

I went out early yesterday to get my haircut. I use a walk in place and the whole time I was the only one in there.

When BeechNutella came later she gave me a pedicure which I was very thankful for as I’ve been having some difficulty with reaching one of my feet.

Have a good day all ?

Urmstongran Thu 13-May-21 06:37:03

Another Taurean too to join the many on here! ?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-May-21 06:52:22

Morning Mick and all

Congratulations Scentia welcome to the world little girl, a beautiful photo ??????

Hope all goes well with tests and vaccination Mick
Hopefully your DD will have a better day Susan
Urmstongtan all this walking, you will be losing your #lazygran reputation!
Ashcombe it’s good that our babies are being jabbed, our 35 yr old gets his on Saturday, and even our eldest and his wife in Kenya has theirs yesterday.

I have a 6yr old beside me in bed this morning, we are awaiting our tea (and for him) biscuits, I so enjoy our time when he sleeps over, he is teaching is the intricacies of Mario Games ??

I shall be having a #lazygran day once he is off to school (after a cooked breakfast)

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Urmstongran Thu 13-May-21 06:57:12

GG13 ?
Mind you a takeaway coffee from the square en route and a stroll ... Himself sometimes jokes and asks if I’m training to be. Geisha ... or whether my shoelaces are tied together. Cheek of the man! I tell him the journey ought to be as enjoyable as the arrival.

brook2704 Thu 13-May-21 06:57:17

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry with some light grey cloud. At last the rain seems to have moved on and we’ve a dry day forecast.
A very big Congratulations Scentia what a beautiful picture!
No plans today but hopefully I’ll get some gardening done.
Awwww you’ve got a lovely start to the day GG13 - enjoy!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today, even something small and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Jaxjacky Thu 13-May-21 07:04:42

Good morning all from a damp S Hants, I have my second jab later this morning too Mick. Then I’m off to DD’s to await a plumber who’s replacing taps after a leak.
Many congratulations to you and your family Scentia, all’s well, the bestest result? Susan here’s hoping your daughter starts feeling better soon.
Have a gentle day all, thoughts with those poorly, a bit sad, with worries, sending ?? to you all.

cornergran Thu 13-May-21 07:09:33

Morning Mick, morning All from a chilly, damp (very!) corner of Somerset.

Many congratulations to you all scentia, that’s a heart warming image. Thank you for sharing it.

Good luck with your second vaccination mick, I’m sure all will go to plan.

Relieved there was medical contact for your daughter susan, wishing her a speedy resolution.

A faffing around indoors day for me as the rain is apparently with us for the day. Mr C has promised to give the kitchen a clean, I’ll hold him to that.

Take care everyone. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

baubles Thu 13-May-21 07:10:25

Good morning Mick, morning all from very grey South Lanarkshire.

Beautiful photo of your beautiful baby granddaughter Scentia, congratulations to you all.

Nothing quite like cuddling up with little ones GG.

Childminding day for us in the capital, I’m hoping for a dry day so we can get out for a while.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day. ??

monk08 Thu 13-May-21 07:12:15

Congratulations Scentia lovely photo.

Hope all goes well with your jab Mick.
Take care all.

Gagagran Thu 13-May-21 07:15:59

Morning all from a cloudy, breezy and non-too warm south coast. Had a bit of rain in the night and more in the forecast for today.

DH's surgeon rang yesterday, as scheduled, but 15 minutes early and DH was in the loo so I had a chat with him and was able to give a report on progress, which continues to be good. DH will need another scan and more tests in July, 12 months after the initial op. just to confirm things are OK. We knew that was on the cards. The surgeon will now confer with the other specialist involved about scheduling the third op DH needs, so another move forward towards him being put back together!

I am expecting a delivery for the freezer today and will need to do a bit of reorganising in there to make some space. It might involve chucking out some unidentifiable objects!

Beautiful baby Scentia- you must be very proud of your DD after all she has been through. I hope she soon feels better and enjoys her lovely little family to the full.

Still smiling at your descriptive powers Urms and have visions of you trotting along in full Geisha makeup now!

Hope the day is a good one for us all. sunshine

Sar53 Thu 13-May-21 07:19:11

Good morning from a damp Essex by the sea. Very grey and miserable looking .
Congratulations Scentia to you and all the family, what a beautiful picture.
I hope your daughter starts to feel better soon Susan.
Shopping this morning and catching up with some tv this afternoon.
Have a pleasant Thursday everyone xx

harrigran Thu 13-May-21 07:20:03

Good morning from a dry NE.
I had a busy day yesterday with lots of nice things to eat but today I am tired.
DD and SIL will visit this afternoon, 17 months since I have seen them.
Congratulations Scentia, lovely to see new GC.

Marydoll Thu 13-May-21 07:30:37

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow.

Congratulations, Scentia, you must be over the moon. A friend's first grandchild, a boy, was born yesterday. I taught her daughter twice in my career, so I'm chuffed to bits!
Susan, sending my very best wishes to your daughter and hugs to you, I suspect you need one.

A small shop today, as Mick would say. I have cancelled my regular Tesco order for tomorrow for a number of reasons. My cupboards, freezer and garage are full stuff and I want to give my DD a rest from having to come on a Friday to unpack for me. DH is accompanying me, so not an arduous task. There is another reason, which I will reveal tomorrow. ?
I have a couple of bits of sewing to do to keep me busy, as I don't have the energy for working in the garden.

For all those who are receiving vaccinations today, I hope you don't experience too many side effects. Mine are just starting to wear off after a fortnight! I know I won't be fully protected due to my meds suppressing my immune system, but I now have a fighting chance!

Dragonfly, hoping to hear all went well at the hospital yesterday.

I read a couple of posts yesterday on GN, which said the GM thread was cliquey and welcoming. It bothered me a bit, so this is a special mention for all who lurk, but are reluctant to post. People don't deliberately ignore new posters, it's such a busy thread and often difficult to keep up. Some of us have been on this thread for years, so appear to know each other. Everyone is welcome.

Have the best day you can.

Gingster Thu 13-May-21 07:33:33

Good morning all and it’s raining here in Essex. Typical , as I am rambling today with a friend. ?. I’m not sure whether to phone her and cancel or wait to see if it eases.

Yesterday was beautiful. We sat in our friends garden (6 of us) and had coffee/cake and then a glass of wine. Reminded us of our old caravanning days, altogether. Happy memories!

We are thinking of going to our cottage by the sea tomorrow but the weather next week isn’t going to be good. We don’t usually mind as it’s a nice change of scene, anyway. We’ll have a think and decide later. ?.

Many congratulation Scentia on the birth of your granddaughter. I was wondering how things were going with you DD . ?.

Keep dry today ☔️. Let’s hope for rainbows ?

Wishing you all a ‘good’ day. ?

Good morning from a grey, rainy Colchester.
The singing carpenter is plastering today, not good weather for it.
We were treated to the army band rehearsing in the park yesterday. Excellent entertainment but they only knew one time!!! Apparently it was for a recording so it had to be spot on.

My new surgery want me to see the nurse this morning for an MOT before they'll write my repeat prescription. I am very pleased as my old surgery just signed them without checks unless I insisted.

More workmen, introduced by the carpenter, are coming to quote this afternoon and Jay's online quiz with the family this evening.

Congratulations Scentia ?? and love to all x
