Mid afternoon we had a ring on the doorbell. Thinking it was a delivery, DH went to answer it but didn't comeback as I had expected him to.
I eventually went to investigate and discovered that a truck parked at a house over the road had rolled back, gathering speed, mounted the pavement and dislodged about 25 feet of our front wall.
The wall is granite and has been there (in one form or another) since the 1870s. The owner of the truck says he has a 'mate' who will sort it out.
Our next door neighbour saw it all -including 3 teenage boys who tried to stop the truck by holding onto the door handle (she yelled at them) and she saw the owner chasing it. Luckily, there was no-one on the pavement or cars on the road.
I was fine and was trying to stop the truck owner looking and acting shocked.
Now, I feel dreadful.
