Obviously they are dearer than short breaks at other times of the year but DH and I have just returned from a 4night coach trip - we left home on 23rd and returned on 27th.
For various reasons we cannot spend THE day with either of our sons and their families and so our daughter always invites us to be with them. We know that she never minds but we feel that it is unfair for her to take us every year but they won't come to us as the teenage GC aren't keen from emerging from their beds, let alone dress to go out!!!
We spent Christmas with some very interesting, mainly 'older' people from many different parts of the UK and from various ways of life.
No driving, no shopping, no cooking, no clearing up afterwards - it was a really good break. What was there not to like when a family get-together is not possible!!!
Worth considering - if DH wants peace he can have it but you can socialise with others.
Do you still wear you original wedding and engagement ring
