Christmas 2020

ohh i no , i always do it at the last moment. at first I think and it seems there is still a lot of time. then the last week comes, I still do not have specific solutions, I have approximate options for each loved one, but half of these ideas are no longer possible to do (usually everything is bought up or have big queues for notis) .

Hopefully, this year I'll do everything in advance, I really hope.

I've bought stocking fillers as I have four stockings to fill. I've made a christmas cross stitch for a wall decoration. I'll be at my dd's for Christmas day as I'm in their extended household,unless there's another complete lock down.

We’ve went into lockdown last night.Today I just feel so down about Christmas, I cant see it being lifted. I’ve no heart in Christmas shopping , I will get round to it as I have grandchildren to buy for and a few adults, but then it may be a case of dropping them off on the doorstep like we did with their birthday presents. As there’s just the two of us I won’t bother putting the tree up either.

Bought 2 stocking fillers for GC and my friend spotted something she liked in an art gallery today, so I've bought that for her Christmas present. It will be very low key with no family parties or pantomime to look forward to.

If we are still alive by Christmas then we can celebrate that.?

2 of my grandkids have just gone to uni. Will they able to come home for Christmas?

I've stopped looking for sale christmas decs because I assumed they were all gone.
But I'm ashamed to say I'm still putting a few decorations away! They escaped and now I have to lug the boxes down break the tape and squeeze them in!
Well the truth is my husband will get them down as I cant, so I'm in for a few black looks and a lot of tut tutting, plus some heavy sighing no doubt!

Well, it is February and I just bought some Christmas decorations for next Christmas. They were reduced from £3.99 to £1.00. I already have some of these which I had bought at the full price. I really liked them, wanted another one and when I saw them decided to look silly in February and buy them.

No, I don’t like shopping, only go when I have to, so don’t browse and see things that would be perfect for A or B. Though admittedly it would be helpful if I did.

On the very rare occasions when I’ve bought a present way in advance, I’ve sometimes put it away and forgotten all about it until after the event!

If I see anything which I think is suitable for this or that person I buy it, whatever the time of year. It helps spread the cost. I've got about three Christmas gifts already.

I`ve only got to buy selection boxes and that`s me done.
Oh and DH`s gift but I will leave that to the last minute as you never know hahaha.

I have not bought anything apart from knitting yarn. I have made two scarves so far and nearly finished a third. They are for my 3 sons as a little 'hug' from mum. Just wanted them to have a little something to remember me by when i am gone, not for a long while yet i hope. . I will also be making one each for my daughter and two DIL. I still have a crochet blanket my mum made for me nearly 20 years ago and i always think of it as a 'cuddle' from mum when i put it on the bed in winter.

Afraid I will start thinking about it a month before despite the shops in full Christmas mode in August. Christmas week we had Cadburys cream eggs by the till, Easter 4 months away then. It's all to comercialisted with people that can't afford it thinking they have to.

Some of us just like to be organised.
I suffer chronic ill health and like to spread present buying throughout the year, as I often have to change plans and can't get out. If I see something suitable and reduced, I buy it there and then.

On top of that, shopping for bargains means my money will go further, as I have quite a few presents to buy.
This year, in my daughter's stocking, was a winter coat and two pairs of boots, the total cost was £30. She was absolutely delighted.
She did get other things, none of which I paid full price for. I get enjoyment out of hunting for bargains.

Although I may seem materialistic, Christmas is a very special religious and family celebration in our home.

PS. I picked up rolls of Christmas paper in M&S for 20p a roll the other day.

Try not to be depressed Bluebell if you think about it lots of people plan their holidays a year in advance, and no one gives it a second thought!
It's just the way some people deal with things in their lives.

Nothing bought here yet and won’t be either . We aren’t going to have crackers next year or use wrapping paper . The crackers are pointless and full of tat and made from paper that isn’t recyclable.Wrapping paper is single use and often can’t be recycled . We are saving boxes and will be using them along with other containers to disguise the few gifts we buy as a family. Our 2 sons did this for us this year and it was a great idea and fun too !
Also cutting down on card sending - only reserved for people who love them and would be upset not to receive one .

I find the thread totally depressing

I had a lot of shopping and gifts for Christmas, too. Recently Found a box in the closet with a souvenir that I didn't even open.

3 boxes of Dove shower cream containing two bottles and body puff (£1 each)

Baylis and Harding gift pack (fluffy socks and foot cream £1)

Tin shaped like a racing car with toiletries in £1.50

Packet of gold bows and ribbons 25p

Dove set with miniatures £1

I managed to get a box of 12 crackers for 50p, a bargain I couldn't resist!

I bought bargain priced cards last week and wrapping paper and crackers yesterday.

I always buy these items in January sales.
