A very Merry Christmas to you all!
Pigs in blankets are my one 'indispensable' Christmas dinner thing, so that's what I'm bringing to the party!

A festive hello to all gransnetters!
As everyone else seems to already have their fairy lights twinkling and baubles out, we thought it’s time for us to do the same. So welcome everyone to our annual Gransnet Christmas Party. As health has been top of most of our agendas this year, we’re thrilled that Ensure NutriVigor is sponsoring this year’s festivities.
Not only that but they are giving one lucky gransnetter on this thread a £100 voucher to spend at a shop of their choice to start the new year in style (usual competition T&Cs apply). The winner will be picked at random from all who comment on this thread by 11am on 1st January 2021, so don’t forget to pop on and wish your fellow GNers a merry Christmas!
It’s fair to say 2020 has been a bit of a shocker, and we know that because of health concerns, long distances, or many other reasons, plenty of you will be spending Christmas on your own. Which is where the Gransnet Virtual Christmas Party comes in. No need to battle the ghastly traffic, icy weather or smile through the sprouts. Simply don your sparkliest finery, pour a glass of your favourite tipple and come join us for some good company, virtual mince pies and questionable taste in Christmas decor - we do gaudy very well here at HQ.
Everyone is welcome (as long as you bring something tasty to add to our virtual buffet) and even if you’ve got a busy day planned do pop in and wish your fellow gransnetters a Merry Christmas.
In the meantime shall we get into the spirit with some really cheesy Christmas jokes? Who’s first?
A very Merry Christmas to you all!

Cosy Christmas and Healthy New Year! ???⚘???☄?? ??????
A happy and healthy Christmas to you all. A strange Christmas this year, but perhaps no better time to tell family and friends how much they are loved, and thought of, when you send Christmas Greetings.
A very happy Christmas to all. My lovely West Indian partner is going to do a wonderful traditional Christmas dinner, the Turkey is always lovely and succulent, and he marinades it with the spices he has.
He also makes a lovely Sorrell that is very strong with ginger and spices, it's a taste all of it's own.
I will not see my Grandchildren over Christmas which I feel sad about, but realise alot of us are in the same boat, thank goodness for technology.
My best wishes to you all.
Hope you don't mind but I've just popped in to say Merry Christmas to all Gransnetters. Have a lovely day whether you are with friends and family or doing it solo. Let's hope next year is a better one for us all

Hello. I’m a lurker, too shy to join in usually but I would like,to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a much better New Year. Unfortunately I have become disabled recently and my husband is cooking the Christmas dinner. He does not enjoy cooking so I think it is so brave of him to give it a go so that we can have a delicious meal. He can be extremely irritating at times when he doesn’t want to take advice but he is doing his best. So I am looking forward to the meal and to seeing our family in the New Year.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE and thank you Gransnet for keeping me sane !
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! I am bringing some German stollen to the party and a bottle of Baileys. Hope 2021 is a much better and healthier year for us all. Enjoy your day!!

Love the photo of yourself and the dog.
Where's Brian ?
Merry Christmas everyone, I'm bringing mulled wine and Mulled wine and mince pies.
Thank you for all the threads, happy, funny, sad, informative, supportive through this long strange year. Great to be part of this group

Definitely double wine then

Hi everyone, I'd like to wish you all a merry xmas. My nephew is having his son for xmas dinner, I said to him make sure you cook him properly.
What's santa's nationality?- North Polish..Merry christmas Everyone- I'm off to do rest of lunch!????x
Oh yes i forgot- im bringing cocktails to dinner for after!?
I used to be good at jokes but forgotten a lot of them - I always liked this one as I love flying (think Mrs Brown when you read, it's not really rude).
An old RAF squadron leader was invited into a class to tell children about his exploits during the war...
"Yes children, we were flying along when out of the sky came 3 Fokkers - the teacher interjected - "Yes children Fokkers were a type of German aircraft". "That's right Ma'm" said the squadron leader "but these 3 Fokkers were Messerschmidts. "
Hope you are all having a good a Christmas as you can. I'm following the well known film "Home Alone" but sadly have no family left and my only Aunt is 3 hours away so can't visit. Luckily I have some good friends and have spoken to one and emailed others. Wondering whether to go for a (very) quick walk to get some fresh air as it's forecast bad tomorrow.
Take Care and let's hope the New Year is better for all of us.
Happy Christmas everyone! I am spending my first ever Christmas alone (well, me and the dog) but it is how it is so I can either be miserable or embrace it - and I have chosen to embrace it. I've tried to make the whole month special, and then yesterday I spent the day watching Christmas films and eating chocolate!
So far today we've been for a lovely (if cold) Christmas morning stroll and I was given a frozen Christmas dinner a few weeks ago so in a bit that'll be lunch - microwaved Christmas Dinner isn't quite the same(!) and missing all the bells and whistles, but it's better than nothing!
I find myself in possession of 1.2kg of Christmas Pudding
so that's my contribution!
Another lurker here just wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a safe and healthy new year. I have posted very little but read every day so wanted to thank you all for your companionship in this very strange year. My party offering is Buck’s Fizz and mulled wine (hic!). Just waiting for my DS and GSs (is that right for grandsons?!) to come though from the ‘big house’ - we are in the ground floor penthouse as we call the granny annexe and we are hosting them this afternoon and evening as my DIL has just set off for work - nurse on a Covid ward, short staffed so missing the boys but doing a very valuable job all the same. Enjoy whatever Christmas is or means to you, look forward to joining in more next year xx
