Can anyone suggest a gift for a couple that have split but are still best friends? My SIL and her hubby have split but will be at their daughters on christmas day. It has to be something I can post or Amazon to about £20-25. they both like gin but as they live separatly it would mean two bottles and then gift wrapping at amazon is £4 each so the price goes up to much. Thank you

Strokes me that you need 2 separate presents. Why buy a joint one? Or have I misunderstood the question?

Have a look on Notonthehighstreet website. Lots of choice and many are free delivery.
There are some mini gin sets for under £20.

Or - If you know the daughter really well, you could send two bottles to her and ask her to wrap them separately.

Supermarkets have nice little gin sets etc.

Well definitely not the same thing for each of them.
The presents need to be as different as possible

Socks and soap. ?

Personally I would send the daughter the cash and ask her to buy a specific item for each but suspect if it's booze it would need to be a bit more than £10 each. No point in wasting money on delivery charges.
How about some cheese truckles, jars of cherries in kirch, olives etc? Something a little seasonal but easy to obtain from the daughter's usual supermarket.

I like Esspee's suggestion!

Yep, I agree with Esspee. I think giving one gift to split will be too difficult given that they live seperately.

Does either like plants? You could ask the daughter to buy a plant in a basket for one and perhaps presentation boxes of say gin miniatures or bottles of beer.

If you have Home Bargains near you that sell alcohol they have lovely little boxed gift sets with a glass, miniatures and truffles that look great. Succulents in gorgeous pots are everywhere too with maybe a box of chocs....

I have got some fun socks on Amazon perfect bed socks, house socks , £8 a pair . Look like a tray of sushi, slice of pizza in a box, depending on there sense of fun.

How about a nice hip flask each. I’ve recently given 4 as presents, and the recipients were absolutely delighted with them! You can buy personalised ones, also ones with funny sayings on, there’s loads to choose from!

I think it’s passing the buck to ask the daughter to get something, she may have enough to do getting presents herself
There’s plenty of nice gift sets around for your budget

Agree it's a bit much to put extra load on to the daughter, it's Christmas, she's probably got enough to contend with what with all the usual hassle of the season.

JaneJudge Sat 20-Nov-21 12:52:20

tell your husband to sort it?

Gabrielle56 Sat 20-Nov-21 13:27:28

I never use gift wrap options it s unnecessary as they know what's inside? I'm sure they'll be able to cope!

Why is the over-riding theme in these responses booze related!

Applegran Sat 20-Nov-21 14:57:54

Send each a paperback book you think they will like - a book is a chance to give a really excellent quality gift at a low price. Books can entertain but they can also open up mental windows.

sandye Sat 20-Nov-21 15:19:31

@JaneJudge Ex hubby is not around to do it. I get on really well with SIL and and her hubby so like to sent a gift.

sandye Sat 20-Nov-21 15:20:55

@Greygirl thats sounds just what I'm looking for. Thank you

Debs47 Sat 20-Nov-21 15:40:48

Because op said they both like gin!

I think a book lover would always be pleased to receive a book token smile

Boyzone Sat 20-Nov-21 17:29:33

Can’t help you Sandye I’ve got enough present decisions of my own as I’m sure everyone else has.

Why not plant a tree via Woodland Trust or adopt an animal such as a donkey or some other charity rather than buying gin or socks or something else they don't really need or perhaps want.
