I’m full of admiration for the D of C playing the piano. I thought she was fantastic. I know it wasn’t the hardest of pieces and that it was pre-recorded, but I thought she did so well. Speaking as one who’s struggling to get up the grades, I know how difficult it is and how nerves can destroy a performance that seems so secure in the safety of your own home. Well done Kate!

Its the only option left.

Anniebach Sun 26-Dec-21 20:03:32

Honestly, sarcasm or what ?

Alegrias1 Sun 26-Dec-21 19:59:27

She wasn't going to make a mistake because they would have re-recorded it until she got it right.

Honestly, point missed or what?

Anniebach Sun 26-Dec-21 19:44:39

And knowing there are some who would be thrilled if you made a mistake

eazybee Sun 26-Dec-21 19:16:35

Yes it does take courage to perform, in public or pre-recorded, particularly accompanying professional musicians.

Anyone who has ever played the piano for assembly, taken part in the school concert, competed in a music competition, or in fact performed live in any form of life artistic endeavour knows that. It is usually dismissed as stage-fright or first night nerves, but it takes courage to overcome it.

Much, much more interesting

lemongrove Sun 26-Dec-21 19:04:43

Let’s get back to the piano playing.....much more interesting.

hmm

The OP stated that Scotland is different in all ways from England. That clearly isn’t true. Both countries speak the same main language, use the same currency, shop in broadly the same shops, drive on the same side of the road and have the same passport.

Elegran Sun 26-Dec-21 18:43:05

Not rubbish at all. Every country is the sum total of its location, geography, climate, crops, diet, history, political structure, literature, religion and a whole load more.

The USA is not the same as the UK. The Netherlands are not the same as Bavaria or any other part of Germany Anyone who has lived in more than one part of the Uk knows that all regions are not identical. . Some elements are the same, some are different.

Perpetuating insulting cultural stereotypes, repeatedly, then asking for a truce?

No, I don't think so.

Oh come on I did put what would have been said to me as well.
I'll come out of my trench if you'll come out of yours. I'm as sick as you are of being a cultural stereotype at least they know where you are from no one except the ones that speak like me recognise mine. Even someone from near Carlisle.

Sctottis? And that was typed while stone cold sober.

I'll believe you tchwink Elegran

No, Lemongrove, I just expect you not to be dismissive of other people's cultures.

I read that as "No, Lemongrove, I just expect you not to be dismissive of other people's sculptures".

Morph is my favourite..

Time for a ?, I may be able to read better then.

I don't always reference independence etc, *lemongrove", and neither do several other Scottish posters that I can think of. Similarly, not all English posters make a habit of airing their anti-Scottish opinions or ridiculing Sctottis accents or dialects. All of us on the forum are individuals, and cultural stereotypes are just blunt instruments for grumpy posters to use to flail about them.

Alegrias if you dish it out...what do you expect, total agreement with your own views?
I have no idea why the thread has changed direction wildswan unless Scottish posters are determined to always, yes always reference independence/Evil Westminster/ Etc, could that possibly be the reason?hmm

No, Lemongrove, I just expect you not to be dismissive of other people's cultures.

Oh, and the Scottish diversion came about because out of nowhere an English person decided to give us the benefit of their anti-Scottish feeling and conflated being Scottish with a hatred for the Royal Family. But I'm not surprised that you blame the Scots. As I predicted would happen this lunchtime, on the other thread where we had to put up with a bit of xenophobia.

Predictable? Surely not.

May I join in with Capel Celyn ? Flooded whilst a Labour government were in power, 1965, an apology was given in 2005 by Liverpool council

Thank you, didn’t want Scotland to carry the burden alone
