What did you think? I caught up with it on iPlayer last night just to see how it went as it was his first Christmas speech, and I thought he did quite well.

I also thought it was a very good idea not to be filmed sitting at a desk surrounded by personal photos which could then be picked apart.

I'm feeling 😳 ( embarrassed ) but also 🥰.

I enjoy your posts too volver but I think I've said that before. People are afraid of strong women

Caleo

Volver, I just read your post that shows you are one who is aware of the climate crisis, and I ask you not to withdraw from discussions. Corazon is more than allegrias.

well said Caleo, we all need heart people

'Volver' was a film that had a scene in it about Spanish bulls being killed. I think. The producer was criticised for actually killing bulls by cruel method of slaughter.
No apology for the tangent dealing with my being transfixed by 'Volver' itself as a name . I wondered what she meant by Volver. Okay, she would return. Significance of returning in Spanish?

No apologies for my own username. I choose it as I like the letters that compose it, and I like words that end in o or a. It has no meaning whatsoever. I was going to say 'no meaning whatsoever' until I realised nobody has ever heard me saying whatsoever and I never even think whatsoever.

volver means "to return" in Spanish. I came back. 🤷🏼

My previous username was Alegrias.

Not much joy here any more.

VOLVER Also picante... I like your posts, they challenge in a good way

Someone asked me if I'd googled my username on here and when I did it comes up with a rather sexy female who sells herself online confused

The other two online discussion groups I go to include characters so diverse and eccentric that it's inevitable most posters in these other two online groups immediately recognise the online personas.

I didn't see your post, Caleo before I posted similarly, it must have been below the annoying video.

Oh yuk, now I've got some woman with a plateful of huge spiders in my eyeline!!

Callistemon21 Sun 01-Jan-23 10:53:24

I still find it extraordinary that anyone has the time, patience or energy to analyse style and content of posts and match them to names
Some posters' styles are so obvious that it doesn't take any time, energy or patience to realise.

Volver didn't make a secret of the fact anyway. The name gave a clue 🙂
(I did like her old name)

"My Old School" was great. Left me with a load of things I wanted to ask though.

I still find it extraordinary that anyone has the time, patience or energy to analyse style and content of posts and match them to names. I also wonder if they are so busy looking at that, and which posters they really want to disagree with, that they actually fail to really engage with what is being said, and just want to jump in with accusations
.
I'm sure there's a PhD in there for someone!

Mollygo Sat 31-Dec-22 12:50:52

It wasn’t me either. I rarely report posts other than adverts. I love your new name Volver, if only I could persuade my autocorrect not to correct it when I dictate my posts 🤣.
Flouncers are sometimes the best entertainment on GN.
My distinctive style when I changed my name evidently wasn’t that distinctive. 😏

Callistemon21 Sat 31-Dec-22 12:21:26

It wasn't me either although I still wonder if you flounced because of something I said about a thread being funny volver
🤔

Thank you casdon

Forgive a slight diversion to the Bearsden programme. It was called My Old School, 8pm BBC2 yesterday. I watched it, and it was one of the most interesting stories I’ve seen for a long time, and very well put together. I’m still thinking about why this morning, and what a wasted life Brian/Brandon has had. If you didn’t see it please do!

Lathyrus Sat 31-Dec-22 11:32:01

Or me.

But I am thankful for the easier spelling……..

volver Sat 31-Dec-22 11:18:21

I don't know who it was, it doesn't matter, but I'm very sure it wasn't you Galaxy. flowers

Galaxy Sat 31-Dec-22 11:15:59

Yes I didnt think you were banned. I did once report a banned poster who kept name changing, and pretending to be a worker on a zero hours contract during the pandemic (dont ask it was bizarre). I dont think I would report him now, but who knows, he did drive me crazy grin

volver Sat 31-Dec-22 11:11:11

I did leave for a while Galaxy and then came back with a completely different username. Someone reported me to GNHQ because they thought I was trying to come back after being banned. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Galaxy Sat 31-Dec-22 11:04:40

I find GN a bit odd about name changing, its considered perfectly normal on MN, in fact a necessary safeguard, as there are women who use the forum to discuss and escape from abusive relationships.
I am not interested in peoples names, I am interested in what they say. Their name is meaningless.
The only time I think its different is when someone is banned and then are name changing and trolling. But that's not what's happening here.

volver Sat 31-Dec-22 10:50:59

Oh, I'll help then.

Apparently its impossible to miss posters with a distinct style. So if somebody comes back pretending to be somebody else, there are those that can always spot them.

On TV last night was a great film about a man who went back to school in Bearsden Academy at the age of 32 and nobody cottoned on.

HTH.
