First tv ad for youknowwhat, and a tv.channel dedicated to crimbo films.

I don't think I can be accused of being a grinch, as I love the meaning, the decorating the crafts all associated with it.

I just hate the commercial fuss coming at us so early.

Still, I've got my crimbo knitting to concentrate on(elf hats and jumpers), to keep from getting annoyed at the commercial c**p🥢🧶😊

Christmas foods were in the supermarkets in August including mince pies.I always think, let’s get Halloween out of the way first.

I do little bits of Christmas shopping all through the year - left it to the last minute one year and never got over the stress and expense! From Sep to Dec I fill up a little student's freezer with our festive extras (oops, that's a little freezer for a student's use, not a freezer belonging to a little student...). It's lockable, which is very useful for keeping prying fingers out...

I think exactly the same. The supermarket already has bakery mince pies with a sell-by date for the end of September - what is the point in that?

Also cards and gifts already out - surely beginning of November is early enough?

Namsnanny Sun 08-Sept-24 15:31:19

Yes me too Oreo although I am partial to a pie (of any kind - meet me and it would be obvious 🤣🤣).

Better get the sprouts on.

Rekarie Sun 08-Sept-24 15:31:55

I'm always happy to see Christmas anywhere and everywhere. Love it. Can't get enough.

Namsnanny Sun 08-Sept-24 15:36:30

NoneGrannyMoll a freezer with a lock on?

We could do with one of those here.
But on second thoughts, we have just had to pay out £140 for a new car key, yes you've guessed it, he we lost it.🙄😊

Well, tinsel looks tawdry in the thin light of Jan/Feb, don't you think?

An occasion becomes worth looking forward to when it isn't over exposed in my book.
Each to his own, you don't have to wait long Rekari.
Or have you left up the decs from last year?😄

Oooh yes! Let's use this acronym inspired by MissAdventure.

smile
We just have to hope something does, which is fairly likely, I'd imagine.

BlueBelle Sun 08-Sept-24 15:49:53

Fed up with it already

JamesandJon33 Sun 08-Sept-24 15:55:21

Went into Morrisons yesterday, they were doing the Christmas Aisle.

AGAA4 Sun 08-Sept-24 16:03:40

Don't want to think about it till December.

MissInterpreted Sun 08-Sept-24 16:11:50

I hate Christmas, not afraid to admit that - but it really does grind my gears to see xmas stuff in the shops at this time of year. Can't they at least wait until we get Halloween out of the way first? Yes, I appreciate some people like to do their xmas shopping gradually throughout the year, but you can still do that without all the actual stuff appearing in the shops this early.

MissAdventure Sun 08-Sept-24 16:14:37

I seriously think it should be illegal to display Christmas stuff this early.
I'm that much of a grinch.

Rekarie Sun 08-Sept-24 16:26:08

Ah, but the Grinch saw the error of his ways, MissAdventure and his heart swelled with love and he became a changed Grinch!

MissAdventure Sun 08-Sept-24 16:27:55

All that swells is my tum, with mince pies, I'm afraid. smile

AGAA4 Sun 08-Sept-24 16:29:51

I wonder if anyone has their Christmas tree up yet?

MissAdventure Sun 08-Sept-24 16:33:37

It won't be long, I think. Groan...

GrannyIvy Sun 08-Sept-24 16:48:40

The local garden centre was setting up Christmas stuff yesterday, gets earlier. I noticed M & S too had lots of Christmas goodies🙈 I don’t like Christmas anymore….

Rekarie Sun 08-Sept-24 17:14:18

No Christmas trees at my abode ... yet!

I have one lone ornament still out since Christmas. Missed when packing up. And my childhood friends mother taught me at a. Very young age if you leave an ornament out after 12th Night then it must stay.

And I've already eaten a mince pie

M0nica Sun 08-Sept-24 17:59:16

Well, I am going to be cheerful about it. DD, in her 50s who absolutely loves Chrstmas considers that th Christmas season starts on 1 Septemeber and DGD is in broad agreement.

They will both be watching the Christmas film channel.

Ziplok Sun 08-Sept-24 18:10:38

The local GC staff were busy putting out lots of Xmas tat (sorry, decorations) today. Most of it I wouldn’t give house room to, in fact all of what I could see I wouldn’t give house room to 😲😅
