What's the worst present you've ever received, either for Christmas, birthday or another occasion?

Mine was a small box of Dairy Milk, from a close friend of many years.... mine to him was a golf bag, to put his clubs in (he was an Estate Agent, so not on minimum wage, like I was then)

The worst present I received was today....Nothing!
When we said we wouldn't do presents to each other this year, he thought I meant it!!!

My worst as a child was nothing.....as my birthday is 4 weeks before Christmas I got a birthday present one year and a Christmas present the next. I would get a few wee bits in my stocking but nothing from Santa. Quite hard as a child to watch your siblings opening theirs when you have nothing. My mother wondered why I grew up disliking her.

My ex-husband bought me a pair of slippers size 8 , when I was only a size 4 1/2. He said they should fit as he'd drawn round my current ones onto a piece of paper and took them into shop and tried their stock on the paper until he found one that matched! Another year was a potato cutter to make chips. Needless to say he is now my ex!

My Mother and father brought the most beautiful Angor twinset for me as a souvenir from The Argentine - I was so allergic wearing it, I would come out in heat spots. My parents knew I was allergic to wool, but it never occurred to them that Angora is wool!

I've just received a footfile from a friend who considers me her best friend, refers to me as her sister OMG, it also had a price ticket on it still of £1.
Years ago a friend gave me a tube of Immac, don't know why as I'm not hairy at all.
My mother also received some nail clippers from her sister, she didnt know what they were at the time but upon my mother's death many years ago I found them, she'd kept them all that time!

From my ex DiL some Tesco vouchers she'd saved up from shopping trips. They were useless to me as they were for restaurants in another county.

Youngeil surely at age 4 it would made sense for his father to go into the shop with him to choose a suitable gift! I blame his father

I’ve been on my own for 6 years now and can honestly only remember one gift from my husband in our 28-year marriage: a pair of tiny headphones! I’m sure he bought me the usual perfume, chocolates and the like, but I’ve erased it all from my brain. Perhaps he gave me the headphones so I could listen to music and block out all his shenanigans! I’ve never looked back since I divorced him.

A box of cleaning products and polish, a disgusting many coloured plastic poncho and a plastic container for video tapes. From my late but not lamented husband.

My worst ever was a birthday present from an older friend. It was a hideous second hand dress in grey, a colour which gives me the unlovely six feet under look and of a design which was never fashionable. My friend gave it to me with the words: “it was too big for me so I thought it might fit you.” It must have been at least size 26 and I was a 14. Fortunately, a charity shop accepted it.

I posted on here last year about a xmas gift from a friend which was a box of tea bags so out of date I think they must have come from some Pharaoh's tomb (they certainly smelled fusty), and a rather nice box she later said was meant for someone else and asked for it back. And there was a secret Santa present last year of a box of curry powder meat rubs for barbequeing, though we only eat curry (supermarket ready-made) once in a blue moon, and barbecue even less. However the funny side was that the meat rub was suitable for vegans, according to the packet! Worth it just for the laugh!

A Christmas pudding opened on Christmas Day. Being prepared I’d already bought one. We finally ate it the following Christmas.

When my son was a little boy, his granddad came in with a beautifully gift wrapped big Xmas gift for him. His eyes lit up and he excitedly opened the gift; It was a wellington boot holder, something you would put on the wall of your garage or shed. He was only about 4yrs!

My step sister bought me some wooden pens for my 21st Birthday. My parents bought me a cardboard "key" that played "Happy Birthday"!
Worst Ever? My step daughter bought me a broken wooden wine rack, which had been reduced in price several times (ending at £1.00) with all the bright red stickers left intact!

CBBL Tue 27-Dec-22 08:17:32

Wooden "pegs"

That reminded me of another present from my Ex, Hyacinth Bucket's Book of Etiquette. It wasn't even for a joke!
