Lots of love and affection, care and support for your children and grandchildren

Granna123 Fri 05-Sept-14 15:30:50

Happy to be a playmate
Happy to be a friend
Delighted to be a guiding light
In the knowledge that I lend.

Happy to be a bit silly
Happy to play the fool
Delighted to be good company
To someone so small

Happy to go on holidays
And get buried in the sand
Delighted to be able to listen
Being a grandparent is just grand!

As I said before - hilarious. Not tedious at all, it makes me laugh. A laugh is a laugh, no matter what sort of laugh it is! grin

Is it just to boost the number of members to attract advertiser, or am I being cynical?

chrisbishop55 Fri 05-Sept-14 15:48:14

The feeling you get from them loving you unconditionally and that look on your own child's face as they recall the joy of having had your love all their lives in the same way. That's Grand!

lucyann Fri 05-Sept-14 16:02:55

Being able to have all the fun and chatter and being able to give them back when you are tired fab all the good bits and none of bad

Nelliemoser Fri 05-Sept-14 16:05:48

Aka How could you possibly be so cynical. wink

RosemaryAnne Fri 05-Sept-14 16:09:50

The GRAND to me is the marvellous fun you can have with your grandchildren whereas perhaps you couldn't have so much when you were a parent due to time and money restraints. It is also wonderful to have your grandchildren for a few days knowing that you can give them back at the end! Seriously though, it is so nice to be able to spend time and see the world through their eyes rather than your own, sometimes jaded, view.

I never knew any of my grandparents. So what's grand is that I can do anything I like with my four grandchildren, and their parents cannot complain.
They do, of course. They say, "We weren't allowed to do that when we were their age!"
To which the obvious response is that that was when I was being a mother.
Being a grandmother is completely different.

janerowena Fri 05-Sept-14 17:09:12

Aka I suspect so!

janerowena Fri 05-Sept-14 17:09:40

After all, competitions have been a bit thin on the ground lately, haven't they.

Flowerofthewest Fri 05-Sept-14 17:17:41

Hi Nelliemoser I enter quite a few competitions on here but only if interested in the prizes. Like you I love the banter too much just to do only the competitions. Good luck with your entries though x

To instill glorious memories that will live with them beyond us and will be cherished in their own "Grand Years"

joanf Fri 05-Sept-14 17:56:30

It makes me feel Grand to have so many (9) little ones to love.

kittylester Fri 05-Sept-14 18:04:57

It's grand to be able to be a better grandparent than parent.

nannilynne Fri 05-Sept-14 18:43:40

It's just Grand being a Gran,
See the Children when you can;
See them Smile as you Read & Play
Makes for a very enjoyable Day.
The good bit though , when day is done
Hand them back over to their Mum!!

Grannylin Fri 05-Sept-14 18:57:56

Love'em and leave'em, that's what's grand!

NfkDumpling Fri 05-Sept-14 19:29:27

Soo, do I actually have to give a reason why I love being a gran? Or do we get automatically entered just for posting?

For what it's worth, I never expected to be a gran. Tuition fees, mortgages, low pay, meant babies were put on the back burner for so long they nearly didn't happen. So being a gran for me is just mind blowingly bloomin' fantastic! (And can I have the spa treatment please)

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 05-Sept-14 19:41:22

Oh, I hope we get entered just for posting! I've had several goes now. grin

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 05-Sept-14 19:42:04

I'd like the diamonds please. Would it run to a nice bracelet?

mollynellie Fri 05-Sept-14 19:42:51

When they put their arms around you and say "you're the bestest nanny in the world. Can I have a cup of tea please?" I just can't refuse!
