When choosing a cake recipe to wow your friends and family, do you pick a new one and simply pour your heart into it, or is it a case of batter the devil you know?

To celebrate the launch of the new, colourful and pun-tastic 'Bake My Day' range, Mason Cash has teamed up with Gransnet to give its lovely members the chance to win one of five complete sets of the Bake My Day range worth up to £130!

To take part, all you need to do is put your thinking cap on and post your baking puns on the thread here.
All entries will be judged by the team at Mason Cash, who will pick their five favourite baking puns.

The winners might feature on future additions to the range, so there if your creative wordsmithery is particularly good, it could end up in kitchens all over the world!

This competition has now closed. Thanks for all your entries. Our winners have now been chosen...please see the bottom of the thread to see who!!

I asked my friend over for a moreish slice of cake, freshly baked and a coffee but she was on another diet again and so replied "it's not my cup of tea!"

These are so sweet, but I'm more of a savoury character so here's mine...

Baking is as easy as pie, just a piece of cake really, and doesn't cost much dough but may be a little thyme

A baker kneads to use his loaf.

A baker always puts too much flour in his bread because he is a gluten for punishment

A good baker will rise to the occasion, it's the yeast he can do.

The baker's son
wasn't well bread.
Kneading dough
he always begged.
I know- don't give up the day job! Hope it got a smile from someone. Happy Thursday everyone.

Q. Why did the baker have brown hands?

A. Because he kneaded a poo!

i thank you smile

sophiamariem Thu 23-Oct-14 21:10:59

A crumby start, but no doubt the puns will get a beating as we whisk our way through.

It's batter to make life richer for the pourer smile

maryburrows Fri 24-Oct-14 13:15:58

Nutty as a fruit cake

The baker's son
wasn't well bread,
Kneading dough
he always begged.

But before the
poor lad could escape,
Mrs. Beaton whipped
him into shape.

Therefore he became
as easy as pie,
the sweetest apple
of mother's eye!

I'm on a roll now, but my spelling has clearly gone to pot. Happy Fryday everyone!
