NOW CLOSED: Competition: What's the least romantic gift you've received?

My husband has never given me a valentines gift or card as he said its a waste of money. He said I get enough treats through out the year.

A half eaten box of chocolates!! Apparently he got hungry x

I got a kettle once....it was a very nice one and we needed a new one, but even so.....

A new compost bin for my allotment. Worst thing was he got it from Recycle so didn't even pay for it!

Once on my birthday, my husband bought me a cookery book entitled '365 Main Meals', which he had inscribed " Something else to satisfy my appetites".
I made one recipe out of it, then thought "What the **, ditched the book and told him to make his own dinner".

The least romantic gift I received was not one but two metal cake slices from my first husband. They must have been on special offer somewhere. I hated them and they gradually tarnished in the cutlery drawer. When we eventually divorced I felt a great sense of satisfaction giving them to a local charity shop.

My ex once bought me a hoover for Valentines day. I don't know how that could be construed as romantic!

My husband thought a romantic drive to a garage within our locality to check out a car would be wonderful! Equally, I've also received a saucepan as a Christmas present. What can I say? We've been married over 35 years and would I swop him? Absolutely not!!!

Would have to be the hoover he got me...for his own place, not even mine lol

My hubby took me to the cinema for my birthday just before we got married. Only problem was that the film was the Omen and I am petrified of scary movies. I spent the entire length of the film with my hands over my ears and my head tucked into his shoulder, he thought I was just being cuddly, it shows how much HE enjoyed the film!!!

our washing machine had broke down so thats what DH bought me for christmas,I was speechless......

I thought he was buying a video recorder but my husband had bought me a brief case for Xmas [quite a while back]. He then appropriated the said briefcase and used it for work!

A set of fish knives. Why? I still ponder it to this day. Maybe if I was some sort of gastronome.....but my usual fish choice is boil-in-the-bag cod in sauce!

I have had a flowery button through crimplene dress for Christmas ( we were both in our twenties & when I was in hospital after the birth of our first son he turned up with a carrier bag inside was a plant he had put in but upside down so it had all fallen out of the pot, he didn't feel comfortable walking along carrying a bunch of flowers

A scented candle that smelt of skinky old socks, it was supposed to be vanilla, but had to throw it out.

An old boyfreind gave me a photo of his landrover for valentines thinking his pride of joy would be mine. He wasnt my boyfreind after that understandably.

My now ex husband once bought me a surprise Christmas present. As I had dropped several hints wanting a light up make up mirror I was delighted to see a square box wrapped up under the Christmas tree. Christmas morning I rushed downstairs eager to open my make up mirror. I could hardly contain my disappointment as it was a deep fat fryer!! (Yes really!)

A new iron! The old one broke so my now ex-husband thought it would be nice to buy me a new all singing all dancing steam generator iron for my birthday!! I wasn't all that impressed I have to say!
Would have preferred some sparkly earrings or a nice bracelet....and I told him so haha!!
