Give them choices- let them have some control over their destiny. That will empower them

Don't ever ever laugh if they get something wrong. Just gently encourage them to learn the right answer. You don't want them to grow up thinking they are rubbish at maths, or english etc.. just because someone laughed at them.

Praise them lots, always encourage them and don't point out flaws. Always fully listen to them and give them all the time you can. Make them feel like they are the most important people in the world, as they are.
