Why do you travel? What drives you to venture far from home and see sights you've never seen before?

Collette have spent the last 100 years taking people all over the world, and along the way they've learned that travel isn’t about the places you go. It’s about you and your reasons for going.

And everyone has different reasons. They can be big - a promise to a loved one, fulfilling a lifetime goal. But they can also be small - the blue water in Capri or the cuisine in France.

The reason doesn’t have to be happy for the trip to be important and fulfilling. In fact, the most powerful reasons probably won’t be. But they will be personal, deep, meaningful and maybe even surprising.

As the longest-running tour operator in North America, Collette has provided guided travel for 100 years. With trips to all seven continents, Collette’s guests fulfil their deepest travel aspirations in a variety of ways with travel styles that are diversified to suit every traveller’s personal style.

So, for the chance to win a £300 voucher, tell us - what's your reason for travel?

I love meeting new people. Trying new food and leaning about different people and how they live

The fear of the known is infinitely worse than the fear of the unknown.

To see places so different from sights in my hometown, to meet people and to increase my knowledge. Also to try new foods!

I love to see new places and experience different cultures. I think I have wanderlust because I am always looking for my next adventure!

Why do I travel? Because there's a lot of world out there. It's so exciting to see new countries and new cultures. What's that old saying? Travels broadens the mind. Yes, I believe it does. And not only that. Whenever we travel we meet new people. We have so many friends that we met on holiday and we still keep in touch. If we had never travelled, we wouldn't know half so many people and that would be a tragedy!

I travel for Adventure

First adventure with our children was on a small plane going over to the Isles of scilly.
My then 5yr old daughter said 'I can see the sea through the floor mummy'
I looked down and realised she was right the plane's floor was pop
rivited and had a large one missing!
Our trip although close to home sparked a little wonderlust in my soul and we endeavoured to travel as much as we could with our childern.

Our travels took us around UK as well as abroad.

Now I long for a camper van to take my Grandchildren on exciting adventures.⛽?⛽?

Used to love our holidays on Greek Islands but now that we're older the travel insurance is so expensive that we now confine our trips to UK city breaks and visiting family members.

I travelled a bit in the early years of marriage, but since my divorce I haven't been able to afford to travel much, especially as I can only go in school holidays as I work in a school. I'm looking forward to retirement to make up for lost time while my health is still good enough. Meeting new people, both fellow travellers and locals, trying new foods and seeing places previously only read about in books is a way of broadening ones horizons and fulfilling dreams.

I travel to see new countries and meet new people. I love the history and beauty of each new place. I also love to relax by a beautiful beach or pool and enjoy all places, including the UK. It is also a chance to spend quality time with my husband/family without all the every day things getting in the way. New York in December to see the tree in the Rockerfeller Centre, which is a dream of mine, and to soak up the Christmas atmosphere, as I love Christmas! Obviously, we will visit other famous sights but the 9/11 memorial will be a sad and reflective part, but something I also really want to do - a way of paying my respects and remembering. Travel can evoke many feelings and this is also a large part of travel for me.

I like to travel to spend time with family and see and experience new places.

I like to travel to have a break from everyday life. Not that my life is bad, but a change of scenery is a good thing. I just wish I had more time and money to do it more often!

I travel because I retired early and we had plans to travel. But health restrictions mean my partner is house bound more than we planned to be. Having four week-long holidays a year minimise the boredom for him. As long as I book all-inclusive resorts we can cope with the travelling. We will continue to travel for as long as we can.

I travel to experience the "WOW" factor, something that will take my breath away.I have just returned from trekking mountain gorillas in their habitat within Bwindi forest in Uganda.I was a very hard climb in the rain forest but so rewarding,Seeing a family at such so close was a privilege I will remember for ever.

I travel because I love to experience new and different countries, cultures and foods.
I love the excitement that travelling brings never knowing what is going to happen and who you are going to meet.
It's a refreshing contrast to the monotony of working and looking after everyone else apart from myself.

Dannydog1 Sun 16-Sept-18 19:20:06

I mainly travel to visit my son who has lived all over the world. This is great as I get to see him and experience other cultures and beautiful places.

Merry16 Sun 16-Sept-18 19:25:17

I travel for so many reasons. Primarily, to escape a busy and stressful life. It's a time for relaxation and to socialise without guilt. To experience a different culture, landscape and climate. To enjoy different food and cuisines. To meet new people. A time for a little indulgence!

I travel to taste new food, to meet people I would not otherwise meet, to see the sights I have seen in books and on the screen and to breathe the air in different parts of this wonderful world.
