Why do you travel? What drives you to venture far from home and see sights you've never seen before?

Collette have spent the last 100 years taking people all over the world, and along the way they've learned that travel isn’t about the places you go. It’s about you and your reasons for going.

And everyone has different reasons. They can be big - a promise to a loved one, fulfilling a lifetime goal. But they can also be small - the blue water in Capri or the cuisine in France.

The reason doesn’t have to be happy for the trip to be important and fulfilling. In fact, the most powerful reasons probably won’t be. But they will be personal, deep, meaningful and maybe even surprising.

As the longest-running tour operator in North America, Collette has provided guided travel for 100 years. With trips to all seven continents, Collette’s guests fulfil their deepest travel aspirations in a variety of ways with travel styles that are diversified to suit every traveller’s personal style.

So, for the chance to win a £300 voucher, tell us - what's your reason for travel?

I travel because I can afford it, because seeing other cultures and places enables me to see the world very differently from those who do not.

The weather! Interesting new places, different cultures and way of life and because we can, now that we're both retired.

I travel because I still can! I love to meet new people and experience new cultures and cuisine. The alternative is to stay home and as I am claustrophobic, this is not an option!

Having had breast cancer I feel an urgent need to see as many different places as possible while I can and to make lots of memories with my family

I love to travel to see new things and experience different cultures. Now that I'm retired, I want to travel to tick places off my bucket-list (finances permitting!)

My husband and I take our 3 children on a holiday tour every year , we fly to our destination , pick up a car and explore for 2 weeks , our best times are when we are staying among locals , experiencing a different culture is exciting and educational .

I travel to see new places, meet new people and try new things. I love to try local food and drink in their place of origin and see wonderful sights

juliedee Mon 17-Sept-18 15:05:08

we travel to see different things, so easy to stay where you are sometimes, but the world is so vast and amazing

paulinecnd Mon 17-Sept-18 15:13:23

I love to travel to explore countries unknown to me. I love to see the flora and fauna and enjoy local food. I also love seeing the different old types of buildings and unusual geographical features. I also like to see the locals smiling and happy, even if they have very little, materially. Unlike in this country too often! If you were to say hello to a stranger in London, they would think you were mad!!

I travel to experience first hand the vastness of the world.

grungeland Mon 17-Sept-18 16:50:17

I enjoy travelling to broaden my understanding of different cultures. Fear is often a product of the unknown, once you have experienced different cultures/outlooks you view the world and other people in a different, more accepting light

PamGregory Mon 17-Sept-18 16:56:02

To get away from the norm and broaden my experiences.

madeline Mon 17-Sept-18 16:58:18

I see places on TV and in magazines and dream of visiting there. I'd love to go to Peru, Machu Picchu but I'd probably end up like Karl Pilkington and refuse to walk up, lol!
