The gift of all the family together

It's got to be Christmas dinner for my family. It's the one meal I love to cook and one of the few occassions where my 2 children and their partners are all together with me.

This year my daughter is in Australia so we couldn't send her as much, so I decided to get involved in Glasgow's Spirit of Christmas, and I have loved shopping for gifts for kids who don't get much (if anything). I filled two huge gift bags for a 16-18 year old boy and one for a girl the same age. I probably got as much enjoyment from choosing things as they will get from opening them on Christmas Day.

I'm looking forward to giving my Dad a hamper of gluten free goodies I've been putting together as since he was diagnosed as coeliac he has been struggling finding what he can and cant have, I'm hoping the contents of the hamper will show that he has a wide variety of food and drink available to him.

I was so impressed with my Shark handheld I bought one for a friend for CMas. Just hope she likes it as much as I do!

For myself I'm most looking forward to some lovely chocolates but I'm mainly looking forward to our rescue dog experiencing her first Christmas with a family. We have bought her lots of gifts xx

Chocolate Coins for my daughter it is a tradition that goes back to when she was very young and she still loves them at 23.

I'm really looking forward to giving a trip to New York to my husband as he thought he would never be able to go there after a serious illness. x

The present that I'm looking forward to this year is the gift of having all my family at my house for a 1970s style buffet. Looking forward to fun, laughter and nostalgia. I'll raise a glass of snowball (with a glace cherry on a stick) to you all x

I'm most looking forward to a gift from my husband - after 30 years he knows me so well and always surprises me (in a good way)

Its a bottle of whisky to my father, he's getting older and more frail, going blind and deaf - so all the things he used to like he can't use or do anymore - but he still likes a drop of whisky in his tea.

I love giving my Mum a Christmas apron every year she put it on in the morning and wears it to cook the Christmas dinner

Sometimes it's good to have a Christmas that's guest-free.
For the first time we're staying home alone this Christmas and giving ourselves and our grown up children and our grandchildren the gift of a quieter Christmas. They'll all be here together with us afterwards and we'll celebrate the New Year together instead. Much as we all love each other this will hopefully help the busy parents to not have any extra guests to cater for this year and we, being retired, will have time to entertain them all afterwards.

I am looking forward to giving my daughter her Iphone, it is 2nd hand and an old model but she really will not expect it as she know I cannot afford much and she told me not to worry. I managed to save up to get it and just can't wait to see the look on her face

I have bought my husband tickets to see the band 10CC. He said he'd seen them in the 1970's before I met him and really enjoyed the gig. I found out they are coming to Norwich next year so I've booked it. Can't wait to give him the tickets, he'll be so surprised and over the moon!!!

Best present would be to feel better to then be able to book a holiday in our wee caravan in cornwall...

A new watch from my husband !! Ive dropped enough hints anyway .

I'm looking forward to giving a homemade hamper full of luxurious food goodies to an elderly friend who needs spoiling.

I have a new daughter in law and I have spent a while hand making her a special journal filled with pages and special things that are tailored to her interests. She can then modify and add to it as she wishes. She is another crafty person, so will, hopefully, be really pleased to receive a hand made gift.

We're looking forward to spoiling the kids rotten

I love giving family the truffles and homemade liquors I make. They always go down well!

My lovely Gran has taught me that the little things mean a lot so as well as a main present I also give my Gran and aunties and uncles goody bags with pre-threaded sewing needles, books of first class stamps and pretty writing paper, a hand made ‘gift voucher’ for a helpful treat eg cleaning the oven, polishing the brasses, cleaning the inside of the windows, ironing. And a big hug and Christmas kiss!
