I loved trying to make my own perfume, let’s just say my poor grandads rose bushes got hacked at, hours of fun though x

We used to love building dens.

I loved the challenge of marbles, there was always something fascinating about the hole in the wall where the marbles gathered which reminded me of Alice in Wonderland.

I loved playing in the local playground when I was a child; I remember it being built, all the children were excited and on the day it was opened there were queues for the slides and swings. I remember us all furiously polishing the slide with the inside of a wax paper bread bag to make us go faster smile

Building dens at the bottom of the garden, or nursing my dolls and bears, teddy still has a bump on his head that I never managed to 'heal' despite many a bandage.

Bike rides. I loved exploring and having adventures.

Being outside in the countryside, helping on the farm and looking after the calves. Going to the local shows with them.
The best time was probably harvest time riding on the tractors with the corn, hay or straw till the sun left the sky. I will alway remember the smell of fresh hay and the thrill of watching the calves arriving into this world.

Like Poppy and Sam I just loved Hide and Seek! I used to play this with my sisters......ready or not here I come!!! I remember hiding with my heart beating and trying to hold my breath! I thought they could hear both! Our various dogs would always sniff us out and give the game away!

We had an old army camp opposite our house. No buildings left, but the concrete floors were still there. We got coloured chalks and laid out rooms on the concrete, complete with our crooked drawings of furniture. Kept us busy for hours

Pond dipping. There were 2 large ponds in a field at the back of our house, and we were always over there looking to see what we could find amongst the rushes.

Going to the park and spending hours lying on the roundabout dropping a stone and then my friend picking it up and dropping it somewhere else within reach. Simple activities for simple times.

As I grew up on the north wales coast my favourite activity was playing with my friends on the beach, both in the summer and winter. We used to play rounders, go crab fishing in the rock pools, and take a picnic lunch so that we could stay out all day.

I was fortunate to grow up in North East Scotland on a farm with the River Deveron running past the house. I was taught to fly fish at a young age so taking myself off, usually early in the morning to go trout fishing was something I loved to do. There was huge old fire/school bell attached to the garage of the house and when my mother wanted me to come home she rang the bell three times, to warn me I was wanted then two lots of three rings to say, come home now! Proudly taking home for mum to cook for breakfast, lunch or whatever any trout I'd been lucky enough to catch. Freedom, confidence and responsibility were the three things I learnt from this time. So lucky, wonderful memories!
