Rapunzel beacause of her beautiful long hair - I always had to have my hair short because it was easier to manage

I loved Rumpelstiltskin because I thought the story was intriguing!

Cinderella love how she gets transformed

CHIiNTZ Fri 27-Sept-19 16:33:57

Cinderella - because I had the Penguin book and it showed Cinderella wearing 3 or 4 different dresses and I loved to look at those dresses.

Hansel and Gretel - my grandparents had a sweet shop and we used to recreate a miniature version of the witch's cottage all covered in sweets.

Cinderella. I like the idea of awful people getting their just desserts and the virtuous person coming out on top

The magic porridge pot. It made more and more porridge until it was running down the streets. I loved reading all stories as a child but this one sticks in my mind as the pictures of a town covered in porridge were so dramatic.

The Little Match Girl ,The Happy Prince and the Little Swallow by Oscar Wilde. Incredibly sad and poignant but couldn't stop reading them over and over. Also Brothers Grimm. Don't know what this says about me as a child !

The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde. A story for mankind for always. A tale of what true wealth and happiness means. That material things have no value unless shared with those whose need is greater. A tale of compassion, sacrifice and love.

DorisDay99 Sat 28-Sept-19 15:11:06

Cinderella, because of the romance of the prince waking her up after all her adversity.

I loved the elves and the shoemaker, I could really imagine the old gentleman, and the little elves making the beautifully made shoes for him - there is also a message some of our young people should read - be kind and helpful - the story has stayed with me and still makes me smile.

I loved Jack and the beanstalk, I loved my dad reading it to me as a child, he was a hard working man, and did not spend much time with me, but the times we read this together when I was small stay with me now -- fee---fi---fo-----fum

montydoo Sat 28-Sept-19 15:20:34

100% the Billy Goats Gruff, and the wolf huffing and puffing their house down. It was a great story where you could interact blowing and being the wolf, it had a story about being kind where the house of bricks, which took the longest was home for the pigs and the wolf got his just desserts for being a bully ! (Not PC nowadays I am afraid)

Kat38 Sat 28-Sept-19 18:00:54

Cinderella! I had the Ladybird version and she wore the most beautiful dress! I loved it and it was always my first choice for a bedtime story!

Cinderella. I imagined i was the beautiful, hard working, put upon sister who was dressed in rags, (nothing could be farther from the truth). I imagined that I would have a mysterious makeover and emerge at the ball in the most amazing spectacular dress ever. Then, after losing a shoe, I would have a Steve McQueen look-a-like Prince swoop me off my feet after finding my shoe for me. I lived happily ever after. I did grow up in the 50s/60s!

Stowie Sun 29-Sept-19 12:01:57

Rumpelstiltskin. It always used to scare me, but in a good way!

missblueeyes Sun 29-Sept-19 12:05:44
