Cinderella because she was beautiful, had a faithful friend in Buttons and finally married her Prince Charming

seagull24 Sat 05-Oct-19 13:54:52

Hansel and Gretel because the book I still have has a fantastic picture of the witch’s house made of gingerbread and sweets. I used to think how wonderful, to live in a house like that

Goldilocks and the three bears because my mum use to make baby bear sound so sweet when she told the story

I loved Snow White, so magical and I loved the stark imagery of "lips as red as blood, hair as black as night and skin as white as snow".

Stig of the dump was a favourite as it seemed an adventure that was possible to have. I was interested in dinosaurs and fossils and early humans fascinated me, living in caves and hunting for food. I remember how he made windows from glass jars which I now think was the first time I can remember reading about re-cycling!

Goldilocks and the Three Bears - and I still spend my life searching for things that are 'just right'!

Hansel and Gretel....the thought of eating a house made from cake and biscuits has always appealed to me

Susanmcg Sun 06-Oct-19 10:24:38

The Selfish Giant by Oscar Wilde. The story reminds me that we can all change and gave me faith.

Mine was the ugly duckling. It has such a good message

JulieCR Sun 06-Oct-19 11:35:10

Peter Pan And Wendy.
Don't all children wish they could fly? I used to jump around the room pretending!

Red Riding Hood, good overcoming evil

karenharrison Sun 06-Oct-19 12:34:13

I always loved the Billy Goats Gruff - scary for a young child and I like being scared!

amadan10 Sun 06-Oct-19 14:06:11

Rumplestiltskin is my favourite. I first read it in a First Aid in English Reader in primary school. I can still picture the illustrations. Perhaps I was slightly traumatised by the ending. (No spoilers!)

JosephineW Sun 06-Oct-19 14:56:48

Cinderella. Loved it in every written and visual version. Still do!

Alybob Sun 06-Oct-19 15:30:09

Ktferdy Sun 06-Oct-19 15:45:51

My favourite was Snow White although it was through the film. I loved the idea of these little men looking after Snow White and her getting her prince in the end.

minilynn3 Sun 06-Oct-19 15:53:06

I loved Snow White and the seven dwarves because she was so pretty and I liked te idea of her cottage in the woods and looking after the dwarves!

katybrown1 Sun 06-Oct-19 15:54:25

Jack & the beanstalk. I was brilliant at climbing trees as a child and truly believed that if I climbed a tree high enough; I could get that pot of gold. I believed it for years.

Nicbak Sun 06-Oct-19 15:58:15

Jack and the beanstalk although I used to cry every time they sold the cow ???

ljyeomans Sun 06-Oct-19 20:40:13

Snow White, it was so romantic, your hero waking you up with a kiss

KeiraArchie Sun 06-Oct-19 20:57:54

Peter Pan because it is pure escapism and I used to look at each night before bed to see if I could see Tinkerbell or Peter Pan - now read it to my grandaughter who also loves it even more so since seeing the pantomime last year.
