My favourite fairy tale growing up was The Water-Babies. I loved the thought of going under the sea and making all these friends. Like all good fairy tales it has good morals!

Snow White - being small in stature could always have empathy with the dwarfs

I loved little Red Riding Hood. Not sure whether it was to do with visiting my Granny because she lived in the woods - or at least, had a lot of trees and at that age I probably thought it was 'the woods'.

The Little Match Girl - I just loved the illustrations of her in my book of fairy tales.

janash1959 Thu 10-Oct-19 19:18:31

I loved Snow white and the seven dwarves, because I loved the fact the I could always remember the names of the dwarves.

Lkilby Thu 10-Oct-19 20:22:28

Hanzel and Gretel because of the house made of sweets.

ykellock Thu 10-Oct-19 20:24:47

I liked Snow White and 7 Dwarfs. We did play at school and I was Grumpy!

Mariobug25 Thu 10-Oct-19 20:40:26

Cinderella - because it showed that there can be a silver lining to a bad situation x

I liked the Ugly Duckling. I wasn't a dainty child and I loved the idea that you can grow up and be different.

cathryn1 Thu 10-Oct-19 20:47:14

Cinderella for me, there is always good that shines through

Emmamaryd Thu 10-Oct-19 20:50:27

The ugly duckling. Reassuring for kids who feel like the odd one out.

cathyov Thu 10-Oct-19 20:51:09

I loved the Ugly Duckling as I always felt like I was 'that duckling' but I would turn into a magnificent swan one day....ok maybe I am still waiting but the fairy tale always kept the magic and hope burning and I made sure I shared it with my children too and am continuing the trend with my grandchildren as well - always believe smile

ustupidwoman60 Thu 10-Oct-19 20:53:10

cinderella- I just loved the whole story, especially the bit about the fairy godmother and how she managed to get away from the horrible ugly stepsisters and marry the handsome prince -

Siameselouise Thu 10-Oct-19 21:07:30

The Princess and the pea. I was quite a fussy child, so it reminded it of me when I was little!

kathrynnn Thu 10-Oct-19 21:14:25

Cinderella - surely every little girl's dream. A rags to riches story where Cinders meets and marries a prince - and gets to wear beautiful ballgowns

Yellowroses Thu 10-Oct-19 21:25:37

The Ugly Duckling - I just think it is a sweet little story and has a lovely moral.

fionajk42 Thu 10-Oct-19 21:30:58

The Happy Prince. Although really sad it made me think about what I could do for others.

grannybiker Thu 10-Oct-19 22:06:15

I love The Three Billy Goats Gruff as my Dad always did the voices We used to walk along a disused railway line (Great blackberry bushes ;) ) and there was a wooden bridge where we used to act it out with Dad as the troll. It was so exciting!

gill81uk Thu 10-Oct-19 22:21:05
