All of the titles mentioned. Also as a little girl I read Thumbelina over and over again so it was my favourite then.

I didnt actually like fairy tales when I was a little girl, they scared me, but I adored the Paddington stories. To this day I recall Paddington going out for dinner with the Browns and asking for HORSES DOO VRES, and an Olive from his hors d'orves flew into the trombone of the band player. When ever we are out, I still ask for HORSES DOO VRIES, people think I don't know what I am asking for, but Paddington does.

Alice in Wonderland. I always wanted to go down the rabbit hole

craftergran Sun 15-Sept-19 10:47:18

Peter Pan because they could fly

My all time favourite fairy tale was Haensel and Gretel. I could fully identify with Gretel getting lost in the woods, as I spent a lot of time playing in the old woods near our house. There were quite a few old women in the village that I transformed into the old which in my minds eye.......and some dishy boys that I chose to be my phantasy Haensel.
So the Brothers Grimm were part and parcel of my childhood in a tiny village in Germany

Yes i too went to cinema to see snow white& the seven dwarves, but it didnt scare me.i loved cinderella in books& films. The one that scared me was the red shoes! What a horrible tale for a child to think of them cutting off her feet& the shoes carrying on dancing! Ive never read that one to my grandchildren.it used to give me nightmares when i was a kid.

Nannan2 Sun 15-Sept-19 11:28:57

Gosh yes,id forgotten about thumbelina,i loved her too as im not very tall myself(grin)

Grampy Sun 15-Sept-19 14:43:20

Jack and the Beanstalk intrigued me as a child, I couldn't get used to the idea that Jack could climb up to see the Giants castle, and I wanted to be him.

Greenfinch Sun 15-Sept-19 14:55:20

The Ugly Duckling because of its message of hope.

I can remember reading Aesop’s Fables as a child and being fascinated by the story of Medusa with snakes for hair.

Jacqi Sun 15-Sept-19 15:34:07

Tinkerbell, Cinderella, probably but I did love Hanzel and Gretel, and all the others, just in awe of all the imagination the storytellers had. I must say but not really in the answer.
I did love It's a Wonderful World song on the ride in DisneyLand so many years ago, still love it as well, just sings in my ears all the time.

rmunson Sun 15-Sept-19 15:51:22

Snow White because I wanted the 7 dwarfs as my friends

CazB Sun 15-Sept-19 15:51:58

Snow White and the seven Dwarfs. I was frightened of the wicked queen when I was a young child, but the dwarfs made me laugh and the ending was happy.

newfield Sun 15-Sept-19 16:44:05

Cinderella, Loved the story of a little girl who had nothing becoming a princess

purplevamp Sun 15-Sept-19 17:03:20

I loved Alice's Adventures in Wonderland because I wanted to eat the cookies and drink the special drink that made her grow smaller and then taller!

Djl71 Sun 15-Sept-19 17:10:27

Cinderella The dress and shoes and the creatures helping her

GrannieBabi Sun 15-Sept-19 17:21:03

As a child I was addicted to the Andrew Lang series of Fairy Books each one named after a colour and crammed with stories, well known and obscure. I borrowed them all from the local library - I must have read more fairy stories than I had hot dinners!
One of my favourites was The Tinderbox. Don't know why, as the soldier who retrieves the tinderbox was a very bad character. There was just something about the dogs 'with eyes as big as saucers/mill wheels/the round tower'

floorflock Sun 15-Sept-19 17:30:30

The Princess and the pea.
I thought that a Princess must be a magical person if she could actually feel a pea through all those mattresses.

Jaxie Sun 15-Sept-19 17:38:54

Thumbelina: I wanted a little sister so would fantasise about having a small person to cherish.

Tanny Sun 15-Sept-19 17:48:56

It’s Cinderella. Every little girl loves a princess

AmyRoses3 Sun 15-Sept-19 19:27:28

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I will never forget that wonderful moment, when, as a child, I read about Lucy’s feet crunching on snow as she pushes through the fur coats in the wardrobe. I really did believe that another world lay beyond the wardrobe and it's a story my children and grandchildren find equally magical.

hil22 Sun 15-Sept-19 20:03:13

The Princess and the Pea was my favourite because I was fascinated by the fact she could feel the pea under so many mattresses!!!

Donnylover Sun 15-Sept-19 21:00:50

Snow White because I loved the 7 Dwarves

Kim8 Sun 15-Sept-19 21:08:54

Cinderella was my favourite and then my daughters and now my granddaughter too.
